- I figure everyone wants an update on the damage, how bad it is, how it is all going to get fixed, etc. Hopefully the car is going to be better than before the damage, unlikely, but I hope so lol. The LS1 engine is still good ( really an LQ9 ), the thing still runs, the wheel, tire, suspension, arms, subframe, rear body, front body, tube front, frame rails, everything are pretty destroyed. Oh, the body kit, the hood, the fenders on all 4 corners, the car is a complete mess. We will make the thing work though!

First of all, glad you are ok! Definitely looks like a HANS device may have helped with that angle of impact.
Secondly, a lot of people are missing the point at who is to blame. Sometimes you have accidents where you can clearly see who is at fault and sometimes you don’t. With that being said, these cars are built mainly for learning and for fun. Style points are always a plus, but anyone who wants to keep their stuff perfect will never grow in this sport.
Accidents happen, just happy everyone is healthy after such a shunt

Grants car is fast, this is the second person he's rammed like that with it. It just depends how you look at it and who you favor. Drifting is controlled chaos, an oxymoron. Unless someone purposely hits another and I doubt either wanted to wreck their cars. It's a Big risk, all who tandem take.

Shit we would’ve loaded up and headed straight home and started ripping it apart when we got there assuming we didn’t start stripping it at the track which if we couldn’t leave the event immediately we would have started (but that’s the racing dirt oval and chasing points every year in us)
The beauty of racecars is that anything past the suspension mounts and steering mounts is just decorative

Regarding the car, if you don't want to transplant the powerplant and keep the chassis due to sentimental value, which I understand, I would recommend to use other car for the next event, take your time with the rebuild and almost certainly tube frame it. The rear might be salvable, but that front section is too far gone imo and don't see it coming back to align anything close as it should.
Shit happens and drifting is as it is. Good luck mate, I hope it can be revived.
All that rear-end damage from a bump? Come on now, it was hard contact at all. If that all from Grant, how in the hell is the exhaust perfectly straight and sticking out 8 inches from everything? Yes, you had a poor transfer and braked while pointing. Yes, Grant bumped you. No, you didn't have rear brakes. Lots of things added up to make this happen but, not all that damage is new
you do realize 240's are tin cans right? also he hit the bumper not the exhaust. Grant cleared the exhaust on initaial bump and on the tail slap at the end. only time i've bent exhaust is when i'm dragging a tire wall and it snatches the exhaust tip because it's down low.
Why not just get a new shell? This looks like a crazy amount of work in a few days unless you guys work from morning to night
Tbh I would total out that chassis and just buy a new 14 shell that rolls. Then swap it all over.

Glad it didn’t take a bigger toll on you than it did. Don’t rush the fix, this thing has to be able to keep you safe as well.

That was definitely a nasty hit. It looked like a small mistake on your part, coupled with a fairly decent mistake/mistimed surge on Grants part, and it just turned into the worst case scenario.
Grant Flanders tapped that ass! On a serious note glad you ok and bringing her back to life.
I would cut down that frame rail all the way down to the strut tower, next time you pull the motor, pretty sure jimmy did the same thing on made his own mounts for the tension rod brackets on the 13

Do kbd do anything to help you with the body kit? Hopefully you'll get the chassis close to straight and it will drive as good as it did.

we were in a deceleration zone as laid out in the drivers meeting.....
@Lone Star Drift looks like from Grant's video that your rear brakes locked up, you straightened, he had nowhere to go. If you were still at angle, he probably would've just spun you out and your right rear would've hit the wall instead the more expensive right front.
Even if he made the transition without contact grant still would've smashed into the side of him..if you watch the replay grant is surging/diving in way too fast

That car needs a visit to a Car-O-Liner bed. You should plum drop it to check to see if the front end is even close to square.
