I ordered a Johnson harmonica a few years back. I tried it out. It was about what I expected. I ended up keeping the case and the cleaning cloth and decided the harp would not make a good paper weight and I threw it away.
Man I can’t stand harps like that. Good work on it and all but yeah…it sucks and blows…you’re such a good player you still make it sound alright Tim! Thanks for the Johnson jokes lol 😂
Durn near lost a filling sucking on that Johnson, seriously. Thought I could fix it up but thought wrong (not the first time, I'm told, lol). And thanks for your continued support!
It's very important to be picky about which Johnsons to play with. They're everywhere, cheap, low value and most come attached to problems you just don't want.
Years ago Musicians Friend cleared these out for a dollar. I bought a zillion of em and I still find 'em laying around in old boxes. Like an annoying relative that just shows up at your gig.
@@Tim48103 I'm drinkin' coffee out in my back yard with a kitty cat in my lap and Tim D. vids on my phone. Life is good. I'm binge watching Tim's vids. Great player, love his sense of humor. Tim, you are a joy to watch.
@@rustyshackleford9557 aw, thank you! I'm just gonna forward this convo to my wife real quick - I think she's outside selling my harps in her garage sale.... I really must get out of bed earlier....
Yeah these are junk! The only thing that would help is a new comb. Not worth it though! the next cheapo you should try to fix is the Chicago Blues harp with the clear plastic comb. Probably gonna be another POS though. Nice video Tim. Stop playing with your Johnson now !! Sorry I couldn't resist.
Too many musicians think the more expensive your instrument the better you’ll sound. If you suck(no pun intended) as a harp player a Hohner Special 20 (which Charlie McCoy plays) won’t make you a better player. I spoke to Charlie McCoy tonight at a show he did in Louisville,Tn.
@@garygilleran4871 No, they're not, but they're a good, solid workhorse of a harp. There are cheaper harps out there that do a great job (Kongsheng, Easttop, JDR, Conjurer) but it helps to know a little about how to tweak reeds and such to improve their out-of-the-box performance to where they'll match a stock Special 20. With the SP20, if you can't do something, you know it's you and not the harp.
Reminds me of a harp my kids got me at Disney.😮
Thanks for going there so we don't have to...👍👍👍
The Johnson euphemisms never get old 😂
I just HAD to make a vid... 😁

Apparently not much has changed in the few years since. Mine is still on my desk but is inching its way to the bin.

lol - fine - I'll put my Johnson away now. Meanwhile, you have a link to the Chicago harp you speak of?
Never mind - found it - made by "Kay". I ordered one - we shall see!

@garygilleran4871 completely agree!
@@Tim48103 I took Charlie’s advice and bought two Hohner Special 20….his harp of choice. They ain’t cheap!!
