  • The Zebralight H600 Mk IV is the best waterproof headlamp for the types of adventures that I gravitate towards. I've used this headlamp for years as I've journeyed to waterfalls, sea caves, canyons, creeks, cracks and cliffs all around the world. It's simple, rugged design allows it to withstand not only fresh water, but also salt water.

    Zebralight is US company, but their products are made in China.

      You are right!! I was fooled by their website that said something about owned and operated in the USA.

      I think it’s a balance companies need to make. They can make them in China for $70 that consumers think is still too expensive. But if they made it in the USA like Surefire your paying over $200 and most consumers won’t even consider that price.

    I have all the latest and greatest flashlights from Olight and Lumintop to Emisar and Noctigon. And I’ve had several lights die on me over the years. I’ve had nothing but good luck with Streamlight. And the one that died on me, being 20 years old, they fixed it on the spot under a lifetime warranty. But I trust my Zebralights the most. They’ve been flawless. Albeit the oldest one is only about 5 years old but I use them everyday and they’ve been great. The user interface has a learning curve but then it becomes second nature once you program the groups the way you want them. I like mine spaced evenly apart. About to order an H600c because I don’t have a headlamp with throw yet.
    Pro Tip: If you order a spare rubber mount, you can feed the adjustment strap of a baseball cap through it and have your headlamp on the back of your hat. When you need the light, just turn your baseball cap around. Obviously in the dark, you won’t need the bill of the hat to shade you from the sun.

    As far as spare batteries go, I carry some waterproof match cases that hold the 18650s. Its a great way to have just tons of runtime. I love the runtime and outputs of these Zebralights. You can have 1000 lumens for a couple of hours or you can have 100 lumens all day long which is enough for a lot of work. Indoors the sub lumen modes are great as nightlights and last months.

    I am a bit concerned about the heat. Maybe doubles as a hand warmer during winter lol. Not including a charger seems off, but I have not done research on other lamps, so maybe it is neutral in the overall mix. A deal maker for me is that you have had it about 3 years and I have some idea of what you put gear through. Thanks for the honest rundown, Jesse.

    • @samfordman
      @samfordman 3 роки тому +6

      The light getting hot means heat is being transferred away from the LED, as it is supposed to be. It's a pro, not a con.
      The light is also thermally regulated(that's the "PID" in the runtime claims for the higher levels), and will automatically step down in brightness to keep from overheating.

      @@samfordman Thanks for this excellent info.

    • @ZakWilson
      @ZakWilson 2 роки тому +5

      Zebralights are thermally regulated using a sensor on the driver; they'll reduce brightness gradually when approaching the temperature limit. By default it's 50C, but that can be adjusted between 45C and 55C. Battery and charger are not included so you don't have to pay for them if you already use 18650s.

    What I really like about all of my Zebralight`s is battery level indication that you can rely on. 100, 75, 50, 25%. I do own Armytek Wizard C2 pro, and battery level indication works as follows 100-25%- green light, below 25% orange, below 10% red, which makes it really useless.

    I have three of the Zebralight headlamps, one is a AA version and two are 18650. They have all held up for several years now where a lot of other headlamps haven't.

      SkyRC MC3000. I've had one for years and it's been flawless. It'll charge, cycle, and break in any cylindrical cell battery made that I'm aware of. 99 bucks.
      Like a zebralight, it's the very best you can buy for the money.

    • @donaldstrader7241
      @donaldstrader7241 Рік тому

      One thing to note, at least on some Black Diamond models, is that they may even have an supposed IPX8 rating, BUT that does not include the battery compartment. The latter needs to be emptied and dried. They do now mention this in the product description. I do not have any so cannot personally say. I do know someone who tossed theirs as it was always dead when he went to use it, but not sure what the issue was.
      I generally use right angle aluminum headlamps/flashlights for that reason. One that I have that is not right angle is a tubular magnesium bodied light. I would love to have a Zebralight as anyone that has one is always happy with it, but I have so many others, it is hard to justify. I don't use mine as hard as Jesse ;-) but still want to be able to rely on them in poor conditions.

      A lot of people including myself prefer a right angle light even if it’s never put on a headband to use as a headlamp.
