    👍🏻👍🏻 I've got my first zebralight on the way, the sc53fc. I had intended to make a chart for programming it, lucky me I found this video and you've done a really nice job at laying out your chart, I took a screenshot to use as a template for mine 😁 Thank you for taking the time to make it and this video clarifying everything! 😎

    Zebralight sure has an unusual UI, but it's fascinating the possibilities for programming. Definitely an advantage if you have two primary usage zones, with different lighting requirements. I don't really have much so I programmed G7 to be "Muggle Mode." For each brightness level (L, M, H), same brightness as the matching sublevel (e.g. L1 = L2), so to the user it just looks like there's only 3 brightness settings. If they manage to double click on any level, there's no change.
    One thing you didn't mention--factory reset. If your G6 or G7 programming is screwed up and you want to start over. The number of clicks you do to enter a group (G5, G6, or G7), you just do 3 times in a row. So to reset G7, from OFF do 7 clicks, pause a half-second, 7 clicks again, pause half-second, then another 7 clicks. Light goes off. Your G7 is back to factory settings.

    Hey, I really appreciate the strobe warning :) a lot of people in this hobby forget we exist.

    Thanks for this, brilliantly explained. Sending my sc52w l2 back for switch repair, ordered a sc64w hi and was looking at the programming assuming the UI was the same and I see there's a ton of other things you can do and i couldn't make heads or tails what this g5/g6/g7 stuff was. So you can have 3 preset programmed mods to cycle between. That is so f'ing cool. Love zebralight!

    Instead of pausing, you can also turn the flashlight off and then back on. But pausing is easier.
    Programming H2, M2, and L2 levels in G5 seems to be a bit different from G6 and G7 on my SC65c HI: You only get a limited selection of 2 or 3 lumen levels for each one, and you can simply double-click repeatedly to rotate through these options. There's no need to triple-click at all.
    I noticed you're using a reverse mapping, with the highest lumen levels on L1/L2 and the lowest lumen levels on H1/H2. I'm also using a reverse mapping. It eliminates the flash when you double-click from OFF, it's more nighttime friendly with a simple click turning it on low, and it means you can use the same 0.6 second press to reach high regardless of whether the flashlight is on or off. The flexibility to map arbitrary lumen values to each of the 6 levels makes for a surprisingly customizable user interface, and one of the reasons I chose this flashlight.
    Thanks for putting this information out there for people like me to discover. It really helped.

    Wow Zerbralight should pay you to use this as part of their manual. How do you change the lumens for the strobes? My strobes are very dim (battery is good),I don't know how to increase the brightness.

    • @BackPackHack
      @BackPackHack  3 роки тому

      @Edward Fenn: After pressing the switch three times to enter strobe mode, wait a few seconds, then double-click the switch. You can cycle through all 4 strobe modes that way.

    How did you manage to destroy your previous ZebraLight, if you don't mind my asking?

    • @BackPackHack
      @BackPackHack  4 роки тому +5

      I hate to admit it, but I ran it through the laundry (wash only, not the dryer).
      I thought it would be fine as it worked. But a couple days later, I noticed water droplets on the inside of the lens. I pulled the battery out and a couple drops of water came out and the terminals of the battery were rusted.
      Inserting a fresh battery, the light would just cycle through the 3 settings until I pulled the battery. So I ordered a new one.
      But I have been slowly bringing it back to life. I've been leaving it in my work truck, no battery, cap off.... laying it on the dash so it gets nice and warm every sunny day. For the past 3 weeks, it's been functioning perfectly.
      But it will be a while before I can trust it. If nothing else, I know have a spare.

    I can’t understand difference between G7 and G6? G5 is clear that only the secondary levels can be programmed. But can’t understand what G7 does that G6 can’t?

    • @BackPackHack
      @BackPackHack  2 роки тому

      They're essentially the same... all 6 levels of each can be programmed to any of the 12 available lumen output levels.
      Myself, I use G5 as 'tactical', giving me the lowest the highest and 4 other levels in between. G6 is my 'EDC' range, from the lowest to the middle, and G7 is my 'blind em' mode... the 6 brightest levels.

    • @BackPackHack

      @@BackPackHack I found out what it is, something nobody talks about in these videos.
      Once you put it into programming mode you immediately have to start adjusting the brightness up and down, if you wait even like 1 or 2 seconds it exits programming mode.
