Great demonstration. None of the so called automobile "reviewers" will ever mention such a basic finding.

May not be much of relevance nowadays . Most smaller cars today are equipped with EPS ( Electric Power Steering) assist which behaves differently .
Self-centering was more of a thing when one had to wrestle with mechanical steering and it also depends on many other factors .
Modern steering is nearly effortless. One should simply be aware of steering characteristics of vehicle one is driving.
In any case having a hand always on the steering rather than let it move freely back is safer for vehicle control.

Very true... I had even consulted with the showroom regarding this issue... they say that the speed of the car should be above 30km/hr to experience the level of power steering... so the executive drove my car at high speed in curvy roads... Well as far as I know and have experienced with other company cars, S Presso has the worst power steering performance...

Also the executive said the tyre pressure should be always upto the mark for best performance of the power steering... But I didn't feel much change even after topping up the tyre pressure

I disagree. I have driven many cars (no point listing them) all over the world and the Spresso has a very good steering and goes where you want it to go.

I would assume poor steering geometry (Front castor) in design. The tall stance, pushed out strut tower points for packaging might be contributing to this.

Happens with almost all Maruti cars, I experienced the same in Ciaz, Alto 800, Zen, but not in 10

I drive a ford figo..which feels great in steering feedback and when I took Spresso, i was literally shocked to see pathetic steering not coming back and no feedback

Yes, it is true. Maruti s-presso has this issue. I took a test drive of spresso yesterday and observed the same stearing issue. I asked the executives and they told they will check with the experts and get back to me. So, pl. be careful when someone is planing to take new models of maruti...

You would fail your UK driving test if you let go of the wheel after a turn. You are expected to control the car and not allow it to self centre. I do not know why such basic driving concepts do not find their way into reviews, or find their way as adverse reviews like this car steering does not self centre. It should not ever be allowed to.
