I love hunting with you and Sage.......your terrain is similar to what we hunt near Huron, SD. four days is not enough to satisfy my hunting hunger...so joining you helps some. Thanks for sharing your time in the field.
One of the other birds was also over 23”. I’m way more impressed by a big rooster than a big buck. No one is letting a rooster go to get bigger next year!!
You are so lucky. In California, we are limited to pen-raised birds because farming practices have wiped out the wild bird population. S.D. is on my bucket list, but right now is unobtainable due to finances. I come to your channel to watch you and Sage hunt wild birds.
The soft western grass (canary grass?) has to be more enjoyable to hunt compared to the cattail thickets you and Sage regularly hunt. Good bird numbers too.
thanks again
Great video Lu! Shotkam never disappoints! Great job Sage!
Thanks!!
Love that habitat West River, been out that way once is all but seen sharpies, Huns and pheasants. That rooster sure held tight!
Yes he did! It’s such fun to go out there. Not especially challenging, but I figure Sage deserves an easy hunt time to time.

Holy birds. Good work
Thanks, Chris. It’s a pretty great place.
That 23 1/4 is a heck of a nice bird! 👍👍

Loved the long reply on the last day of the bird against the clear sky.
Nice work. Big birds for sure.

I swear that Sage was smiling when she brought that first bird back!😁

Nice shed!
Another great video. SD is full of birds
Thanks! It is a great place.
I want to be you someday Lucas - thanks for sharing the last 2. Are you planning to get another pup started in the next few seasons?
Thanks, Clint. The plan is to get a puppy this spring!
Sageee!
What camera do you have attached to your shotgun….great action shots!
ShotKam. Thanks for watching!
Shelter belt!
I seen different kinds of pheasant breed online. Kansas pheasant, jumbo pheasant, and the regular chinese pheasant. Which breed is the wild one in SD?
The ones I hunt are descendants of pheasants imported over 100 years ago from Washington State and some from the UK.
Great video, what model GoPro/video recording do you use?
Thanks for watching! GoPro Hero 10
@@jcwoutdoors Thanks so much, you and Sage make great videos. Lost my hunting dog this year and want to do something new when I get a new dog.

It is so much easier to navigate. Could’ve used a little snow, but I better be careful what I wish for!
Wild plums?
I’ve never seen berries, but could be. Gnarly stuff.
Oh he died😮
