The wings actually open to help the vehicle cool down because it had to have that feature to allow it to be as fast and agile as it is without overheating which is why in attack formations it would need a bit of extra cooling

I am in complete agreement with you on this. It is one of my favourite starfighters. This needs to be made in UCS form. Fix the wings. The empty space on each should all go one way. Just change the tops left to right and then they will be correct as per box art Edit: pull them off while leaving the grey bar on them so u don't break the red clips

I still have it just taken apart and my Obi-WAN’s torso is cracked. But it’s still awesome and my dark red pieces are still pretty stable.

For the lightsaber, there’s a small space behind the cockpit seat, but you’ll need to break down the Sabre to put it in. It rattles when swooshing, but I don’t care
I know I’m late with this comment, but I’m regards to the lightsaber, I had this set as a kid and what I would do to store the lightsaber (and still do as I have it on display in my room) is to store it in the crevice behind the seat. If you open the cockpit, there’s a bit of a cavity between the Technic structure and the cockpit hinge. If you take the blade off the hilt, you can store both pieces in that little area and close the cockpit no problem, it won’t fall out during play and isn’t noticeable on display. Doesn’t even jiggle around much if you swoosh it. Don’t know if that was an intended feature, but it works pretty much perfectly. Just thought I’d share my experience when it comes to that since that’s something you pointed out

The lego company Finally remakes obi wan's intercepter. But the lego game doesn't use that remade ship. Instead they copy pasted anakin's recent remade intercepter and colored it red.

I actually just bought one of these beginning of December to go with the last Anakin’s Jedi Interceptor. Awesome set. Mine was essentially NIB just the tape seals were broken but everything else was intact and mint.
I took mine apart, used the Anakin's Jedi Interceptor (75038) build instructions with a few extra pieces had an identical one to Anakin's but with Obi Wan's colour scheme. Hey presto! no astromech poking too far out of the socket and a much better model, the way it should have been. LEGO really took a step backwards with this set when 75038 was the best one at the time.
I have 2 of this set because my friend gave me all of his Legos when he moved and I already had the set. I also got the Milano from GoTG 1 and a few other sets from him. I will always be thankful for that goodbye gift. I also got the U-Wing which I really wanted at the time although I massacred that set.

Lol my former job had a webshop for their employees where they had this on discount. Bought it besides the a-wing / darth's tie set from Rebels, to prevent shipping costs. Nowadays this little thing is even more worth than the Rebels set. Wel, since you inspired me to clean up my Lego shelfs, since less is more, this one probably will end in a plastic bag. It is better, but it hurts.
This is such an underrated set, and I f'king hate myself for not getting this back in the day. Hopefully I can find it and Anakin's green Interceptor on Bricklink for cheap.
I think they did a great job with the legs! That's not a quality control issue, that was intentional! A quick look at the source material, and you'll see what I mean
I had this lego when i was a kid, i didn’t like that much star wars and it was usual for me to destroy legos. 1 year ago i was curios if i could found some of his pieces but I didn’t. So I went to see how much it costs. The regret i had was incredible.

I'm so glad the dark red and dark brown pieces have improved over time because the old versions of those pieces were scary to assemble.
It's even worse if they've been subjected to light and dust for years.
