Hi Alli ! I'm a 70 year old woman, renting for the first time. I live all your tips. I did the temporary wallpaper in my kitchen (after I watched you do it). I couldn't believe how easy it was. And it's such a big positive change. Keep sharing your great tips. 😊
I loved all these! I own now but back in the day I rented an apartment and with daughters in high school and friends over constantly I wanted something with a little more flair. I used a TON of insulated foam board for a multitude of things. I created a faux arch on the windows flanking my fireplace, I created a faux brick wall, and no tools other than a box knife, screwdriver, and paint! The foam is malleable so I used the bottom of the screwdriver to press into the foam to create the illusion of mortar between the bricks and a heat gun (CAREFULLY) creates texture, as does spray painting (it eats at the foam). You can also add faux rivets and other textures for different looks. It’s really alot of fun and easy to use!
Hi Alli. I actually started watching your channel as one of those "add-on" ones in case there was nothing else to watch 🤭. Now I get excited every Sunday to find a new episode waiting for me! I have become one of you biggest fans and I love all your content. Thank you for a great channel ❤
I get what you mean, I think it’s because she’s become so much more confident and daring in her projects and it’s really exciting and fun to watch. Better quality videos, higher concepts, more engaging to watch, and it’s been so refreshing seeing her in the new apartment with so much more space and possibilities! Very proud of how far she’s come in such a small amount of time, hopefully more people catch on and she becomes more popular too 🙂↕️.
Hi Alli, I’ve been binge watching your videos for several weeks now and I love so many of your ideas. A suggestion I have for you is to show more without all the tools because many of us don’t have the tools required to do some of these diy’s. Thanks for sharing.
DIY or commission hack. Make a tshirt quilt. Can be of your child's high school shirts as a graduation gift. Can be band T's of concerts you've been to. The possibilities are endless.
Not only are apartments boring, white boxes devoid of personality or character, oftentimes a house is also like that when you buy it. New builds are very bland & older homes need to be renovated so a lot of these little touches can help turn a house into a home. And if you're scared to create holes or you're not sure if you're going to like something, you can do it the renter friendly way first. I love watching renter friendly videos even though I own my place.
If I were your landlord, you could do all the 'temporary' decorating a 'permanent' thing. I wonder if your landlord would see what you have done to the place, whether they would be extremely thankful for a renter like you. I know I would.
@@donnabacon4681I know why, and here it goes: the next renter Will have other tastes, maybe someone who loves pink and hates beige, so, they'll ask for a white wall, and so on and so forth that even if the landlord thinks it looks nice, the nagging of the renters is so disturbing that it's easier to mantain a white wall, even if you want to refresh it, only one hand Will BE enough, but not the other colours, you'll have to really spend on paint to give it a second or third.
command strips do leave residue on the wall or some sort of discoloration. I recently moved, and had a discoloring on the wall, I couldn't get off and tried to color match paint to obscure.
I "framed" the bathroom mirror with electrical tape. It looks okay, but I'm going to try using wood-grain contact paper instead. Such an easy upgrade tip. You've inspired me to look for peel-and-stick seagrass for my bathroom too!
Greetings from a windy Cape Town South Africa 🇿🇦 I loved this video. Your tips are so simple, but it really add character and elevate the overall look. I can't wait for the day that you move into your own home. I would love to see how you transform those spaces. 🥰🥰
I have heard that you can use a hairdryer to heat the adhesive and then gently remove them from the wall. I haven't tried it yet, but I do think that would work!
The only thing to be mindful of when adding a rug over a rug is to make sure color doesn't bleed through if it gets wet or is in direct sun. Had that happen.
Where did you buy the rail for the back wall? Your frame turned out gorgeous, I love the gold you did on them.the chairs look really nice too, nice job. You also have a beautiful scenery outside, I’d Love to set and watch the ducks I the water, gonna see if I can find some of your other videos, love What you have done, I’m always looking for ideas, thanks so much for sharing with us.👍👍♥️♥️
Thank you Alli this great ideas. I do have a question the bathroom bar lamp over sink any ideas to cover it in a girly way? Like crystals & silkie cloth?
Which peel and stick do you recommend that won't damage the paint, drywall, or leave some sticky residue on? There are so many videos of the peel and stick causing renters to go out and purchase paint, Goo Gone, or other instruments to get their rentals back to normal.
I got them from IKEA! I ordered them online and I love them. Here's the link: www.ikea.com/us/en/p/haeggveckmal-room-darkening-curtains-1-pair-beige-00569030/
I am assuming that when you move out you fill all the holes in and paint over? You talked about doing electrical work, have you ever been penalized for violating the lease? I love your design, I love watching you, but I am just wondering what happens when a person moves out when the boundaries are pushed.
Wire shelves drive me crazy! Not only are they an eye sore, they are often impractical! Stuff is always falling over because it isn't just a flat surface. Or stuff gets caught or falls through the wire. 🤦♀️

To fill any holes in walls, I recently discovered Dap Eclipse. Just put on the sticker and paint over. Works great. No more spackle and sanding.
Never heard of! Thanks for sharing!!!
Hi Alli! 76 here. I'm in the same situation as Patti Nick's. I'll be using this channel as my reference point. You have excellent taste.

Like the bathroom ideas especially the shelves.
HI, I love all your ideas, will try the piel stick floor
I love your ideas, I'm finally buying my own home and now having to undo all that I've done in my rental. What a pain so don't do too much! 😊
I love all of your ideas to make an apartment look so much better.
Thank you for mentioning foam board and trying other shapes! You are SOO creative. Looking foreward to the kitchen makeover!
Love your style!! Love your bedroom , 3 colors 3 ways, pillow, evergreen pucture and drapes, love the demure plaid❤😂

Wow such awesome tips.I loved them , even though I own a home now. Those tips are great if I wanna keep changing the decor.
I gotta say, I love your arch idea! I am going to look around my house and see if there's any where I can use that well.
If I were your landlord, you could do all the 'temporary' decorating a 'permanent' thing.
I wonder if your landlord would see what you have done to the place, whether they would be extremely thankful for a renter like you. I know I would.
I wondered the same thing 😊
I agree! She just elevated an otherwise boring beige apt. If there are tastefully done, I don't see why any landlord would object.

@joanahope3013 this is why they are white or beige. You can work any decor into them. Alli does impeccably!

I’m moving into a new apartment and you’ve given me the motivation and confidence to create a home from a rental!

You absolutely nailed it. I’m sending this to my daughters. 😊
Best video yet thanks heaps 🎉
How do you get the command strips off if you can't pull down on them to remove them from the wall¿
I have heard that you can use a hairdryer to heat the adhesive and then gently remove them from the wall. I haven't tried it yet, but I do think that would work!
Love all your videos ❤Thanks

You forgot plants and naturals. Opens up the space and personalized it.
Be careful with peel-and-stick wallpaper on MDF. I learned the hard way that it won’t come off. 😫😡
