Wow... O_O and here I thought the other alternate endings this mod provides were freaking cool! I should've figured as much with how you can still fight Hugo even while Alex is only a 1st Folder, but I honestly figured that if you didn't have any folds at all, you wouldn't even have the option to get up, or that he'd just getting bodied by Hugo. This is such a better alternative though! That entire encounter really hammered home wonderfully that Hugo is Pointless's equivalent to Buzzo for a damn good reason. The vanilla game already did a great job making Hugo an obscure and dread-inducing presence via his few appearances alone, but all the extra details you can find in SOTWS and Infinity Unfolds only add to that image, with this ending and the 1st folder endings being the absolute cherry on top. It's a really great way of providing the player with a means to save Alex from getting ruptured while not downplaying just how utterly dangerous Hugo is. But yeah, from the top down, I love how all the different fold paths provide you with notably different outcomes to Alex waiting a moment before attempting to get up and confronting Hugo. The 3rd Folder path has a thoroughly Infinitized Alex single-handedly decimate and very likely kill him after a grueling battle. The 2nd Folder path lets Alex and Joel scrape together a narrow defeat on Hugo that leaves him in no state to pursue them or Jason any further currently (though like with Rick and Rando, it's important to note how checking his body provides 'He's done for...' rather than 'he's dead...'). The 1st Folder path has a Hugo that's only partially taking the fight seriously ultimately opt to back off when Alex and Joel prove trickier to put down than his previous victims and just cut his losses before things potentially take the turn for him the 2nd and 3rd Fold endings take. This ending though? It makes it clear that while Alex and Joel wouldn't have been defenseless against Hugo if he didn't get the drop on them, without either Infinity gradually empowering Alex or him simply not getting stronger through more fights in Downtown, he is _NOT_ gonna fucking go down and that all they can do is momentarily knock him down and get the *FUCK* outta dodge before he catches up and repeats the events of canon on Alex O_O Like fuckin' A! Again, everything after that 'fight' did a great job emphasizing how utterly dangerous and lethal Hugo is, that he's killed A LOT of people in his pursuit of Jason, and that our main characters need to get as far away from him as possible. I seriously don't know what I love more; just how fucking _fast_ Hugo is once he gets his bearings and starts chasing Alex, the completely understandable 'Ohhh _FUCK!'_ expression on Alex's face when he brings that scalpel out, _just how fucking fast he is and how quickly he was gaining on them,_ how it looked like he was about to get Alex just before he reached the exit, the sound of him slamming on the well cover like a goddamn horror movie monster or slasher villain, or how he apparently solved the alternate route's puzzle in record time _and almost caught the fucking bus by the time it took off._ Either way, everything about that entire sequence, I freaking adored. I was on the edge of my seat during it, especially with how understandably panicked Alex was the entire way through and how we all know damn well what would've happened to him if Hugo got his hands on him. Oh, and details I especially love was how it seemed like Alex was going to call Hugo a 'green monster' like that blood-scrawled note before the endless desert before the sound of him opening the alternate exit cut him off, and how the achievement name is just called *'fear of the future.'* That name really helps hammer home the feeling that, unlike the alternate fold endings, where Alex is able to fight off Hugo to varying degrees and thus seems capable of defending himself if he ever made any future attempts on his life in those endings, here, all Alex and Joel could do was run, and it really does give off the sense that their escape here was only delaying the inevitable/prolonging what's in store for Alex in his future... But yeah, in case the whole essay didn't hammer that home, I think this ending is freaking awesome. Seriously, Infinity Unfolds does such a great job adding onto what SOTWS already added on to Pointless. (Huh, and I also recently played Pizza Tower, and isn't it funny that this is the _2nd time_ I've seen a middle-aged man that can kick much more ass than his appearance would imply narrowly escape an uncannily monstrous humanoid (one that we have _zero fucking info on_ despite the many questions he poses beyond some vague hints/implications) in a narrow, dark corridor..._
@@theSars Thanks. Hmm, additionally, with how you can hear a goat bleating after the 'fight' and how you used Goat Headbutt Ex on him, do you need to use that move on Hugo to get this ending rather than disarming chop, or does it just not matter? Oh, and on that note, I need to know, how do you even get Goat Headbutt Ex anyway? Do you just have to do the standard Goat Headbutt repeatedly like Joel with the Gun Toss?
@@lolrus5555 no no it can work with either way, normal headbutt, disarming or ex. You get it by examining the corpse of the guy who throws a tv to a jerseyhead earlier
Do you mean at 21:00? I took that more as Alex looking behind him and slowing down slightly as a result. Though with everything we've seen of Jason... him 'accidentally' pushing Alex into Hugo so that he'd be too occupied gutting him to go after Jason wouldn't surprise me in the slightest, given what we've seen of his personality.
OH! It finally dawned on me! When Jason pushed or bumped into Alex, that must've been when he pick-pocketed the pink pill off him in this ending! Nice detail.
Alwx: Okay, okay, I got to skip Autumn, start a new life, live in the City under an assumed name! "Church Alexland." Yeah, that's good. Go the the city, join a gang, shave off my beard, and live happily ever after. Hugo: pretty good... except you forgot the part where I *+RUPTURE* you! 20:18 Alex: *repeated wheezes/gasps of terror*
Surprised Hugo can bolt it like that for such a hefty guy. I find it amusing that he had to go back and do that bs switch puzzle with all the confusing doors, lol. And just curious, did you do a playthrough where you watch the TV after you give the trauma kit to Joel? You don't get an achievement, but there's cool dialogue.
@@theSars Yeah, and it's a pretty cool scene in general too. Not only does it have the detail of Raymond Ripe still observing both Alex and Joel and backing off since Alex isn't alone/Joel's packing heat, but it's very interesting to hear Alex and Joel discuss what they just saw on that demented program when the former had zero comments on it in vanilla Pointless. It's very interesting seeing both characters verbally point out how bizarre/unnerving that program was as well as the unpleasant implications that it's connected to the City, the same 'Utopia' that's Alex's main motivation to keep going and that he's hoping will be somewhere better than all the pointless violence and insanity that's consumed Olathe since the Flash. I especially love the part where Joel points out that for as unnerving and strange as the program was, it doesn't seem to indicate that the City would be any worse than any of the previous places they've been to on their journey, and all Alex can say in response is that that is _exactly what he's afraid of._

@lolrus555 you can also get it from that football wearing Gold Diamond-turned-franchiser.
i really like the concept of a chase scene in a game like this
That"Geen...I'm sorry"has more emotion than 87% of anime deaths
the reason things are less is because alex wasn't spending so much time in downtown, so that's why the ending is different.
it was a really idea weird for the only way to get this ending was to delete all your folders, but i think it was worth it. this ending is great!
LMAO
Wish Hugo chase was one of those famous RPG Maker's runaway sequences
Small detail that i like that they added is that jason pushes you behind into hugo, man its been 7 years i need more jason

If you pay attention, it plays the sound effect of when you lose an item at that exact point as well.
This chase is kinda goofy.
Why?
Because they aren't running - they are walking.

interesting that the drive to the city is different in this ending (no franchisers or joy mutant on the way, elephante stays on his phone).
