    Very informative. My great great grandfather was born in Gateshead in 1845. His family worked in the Hawks Ironworks at New Greenwich. In 1871, he lived in Heworth (St. Alban Parish) and came to the United States in 1873.

    I used to live in Queen's Terrace until 1966 which was where the Gateshead Civic Centre was built later, Regent Terrace is still there solicitors offices etc.

    you know i would like to hear our heritage from later dates 80s plus or am i dissapointed to be a gateshead lassie
