Probably one of the best of the later episodes. An emotional ending.. It's been stated that the series didn't really develop their characters fully, or had no love interests, or knew very little of their backgrounds. This is a fine example, when that is not the case. The subtle revelations always works best for an audience.
Sadly enough, Danny knows what Steve is going through in losing his girlfriend; if you'll remember, Danny's girlfriend Jane (played by Anne Archer) was murdered by her friend's husband in the episode Beautiful Screamer (it was part of a plot by the husband to get her friend's money; he murdered Jane and another friend of hers to make it look like a serial killer)...
The actor getting beaten by Steve played "The Most Interesting Man in the World" in the Dos Equis commercials. Here he is playing The Most Pulverized Man in the Surf!
My favorite scene. Steve knows this is the man who killed the woman he loved. He beat the crap out of that man. Dunno said twice, stop Steve you are going to kill him; even then they had to pull Steve off of the guy!! I love this episode!!!
@@Lupton2000 Kam Fong was very upset on how his role ended with him being killed on the show. There's a good interview with him on Mike Douglas from the 70s I think it was 79 when his character was killed off
@@johngibson2884 Chin came back in the 1997/8 "reboot" that never became a series. I read where the former regulars who were brought back for that show didn't tell the writer/director about Chin's death in the original series. And Steven Cannell, the force behind the production, didn't know until after the scenes with Kam Fong had been completed.
@@gogreen7794 Thank you for the info. there was a great cast reunion where they explained that he was not happy at all that he was killed off and he missed the reunion party. I was amazed to hear that Kam Fong was actually a real policeman in Hawaii.
Very rare to see Jack Lord doing his own stunts like this especially towards the end of his career. He was a good 57 years old in this scene.
Love the old hawaii 5 O
June Kawamoto :
me, too! Thanks you like.
The new Hawaii Five 0 doesn't compare
The new show is trashy, the old show was classic.
Alwsys loved Jack Lord for his acting talent. So handsome and incredible actor. Still watch the Hawaii FiveO series still playing on TV.

I liked the show so much that I went and bought the whole complete series online.
thank you
So did I!!
OMG It's a fictional TV show. Police officers have lives and emotions. It portrays the vulnerable side of McGarrett.
steve lost someone very close to him and this gets steve very emotional here
He always says, "stay thirsty my friends", Steve was just giving him some water to drink. LOL
@Michael(open): Salty, at that.
@Michael(open): One other thought... Paul wrote, "(I)f (thine enemy) thirst, give him drink..."
😂😂😂

Oh Poor Steve That Is So Sad! I Love The Original Hawaii 5 O!!!!!

Unknown 1081 Yes, sadly~
Merry Christmas
From what I understand, Danny was going ask Jane to marry him. So sad.
@@maryhlad5277 Right😢. I will never forget that episode. It made me cry😭.
Never seen that episode
@@scottmckellar1157 The episode was named BEAUTIFUL SCREAMER. I cried when Danny found Jane laying on the floor dead.
Hawaii 50 was always my favorite show.
Never a cop show can touch this classic,"one big happy family" my fav episode, end scene best book em ever.rip jack lord
This and "Last of the Great Paperhangers" stand out for me as particularly good episodes from the later seasons.
The actor getting beaten by Steve played "The Most Interesting Man in the World" in the Dos Equis commercials. Here he is playing The Most Pulverized Man in the Surf!
The guy McGarrett is beating up is "The Most Interesting Man in the World", Jonathan Goldsmith, (aka Johnathan Lippe)
Instead of Book 'em Danno, it was Whoop ' em Steve.
😁😁😁😁
Rest in peace
Very much miss rest in peace
1:09... The background music takes a *Charlie's Angels*-ish kind of turn.
Wow great scene in the surf
I don't usually get beaten up by cops, but when I am ... I accept it gracefully.
???

I get a great deal of satisfaction watching this scene and think of all the people who have done wrong to me that I would like to do this to.
A rare view of McGarret's dark side . He would have killed the perp in the surf if not for Danno
He did the very same thing to Chin Ho's killer.

What dark side? Any real man who lost his wife/gf to a murderer would have done the exact same thing.
I love McGarret doing that. There are some people who should end up the same way.
I don't usually get my ass kicked. But when I do... it's on a gorgeous Hawaiian beach by Steve McGarrett. Stay thirsty, my friends.
Likely from late 1976 or early 1977!!!
uh no jack mussed his hair up
such a horrific tragedy.
McGarrett kicking his ass ... No need to book him, Danno.
😂😂
Only McGarret could make a blinding red sun visor look fashionable. With that face pounding scene you had of known a woman was involved.
this is a good ending as good as can be enjoy this one gang Mahlo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They were not in Honolulu but on on of the other islands in Hawaii.
I wonder if Dano ever found his Gun @ 2:22 falls out of his belt
