Switzerland, its origin, its scenic everything, its fierce neutrality, its willingness to protect Nazi gold, and the gold of anyone else... it almost seems too much. When the Knight's Templar were captured and killed all in one fateful day, at the behest of the Pope and the King of the Francs (as they owed the founders of banking a shitload of money) some undoubtedly survived. Like fucking Jedi escaping Order 66. But less pretentious. As so it was that a collection of duchies and principalities became known for their ridiculous martial prowess, where previously they'd had none to speak of. They became known for their skill with halberds. And for their elite troops who could literally garrison a mountain pass fortress with a hundred men and effectively stop experienced armies consisting of thousands. It was thusly that Switzerland could not be conquered and absorbed into the super kingdoms that were emerging in Europe at the time. They sat right between the most powerful of them: the wealthy, powerful merchant kingdoms of Italy (not to mention the Church's little empire, also HQ'd in Italy). The proto German state, aka the HRE, the Holy Roman Empire. The French. The Austrians? Idk I can't recall; it was a very long time ago, after all. Regardless, those mountains became home to a quiet but fierce people. With wealth. Widely recognized as unfairly good, the elite troops of the Swiss, with their funny costumes, their pole axes, f and funny hats, eventually agreed to no longer embarrass the great powers. I wonder what it cost. This has something to do with why those troops provide all the security for the most densely populated, richest (by GPD per capita, I think) nation on earth: the Vatican. They were little more than peasants prior to the Templar's arrival. They sought sanctuary and they found it. Whether this is the truth of it or not, I choose to believe something along these lines happen. Bc that's how history unfolds.
Realmente maravillosa, ante tanta belleza uno se queda sin palabras. Tengo la gran fortuna de residir en Suiza y frecuentar estos paisajes tan espectaculares.

Who remembers the movie "Heidi?" Where a Swiss woman sends her daughter to live with her hermit grandfather? This region looks very similar to the region shown in the movie.
This is a perfect example of nature curated and fawned over, over hundreds of years. It's perfectly fine to tamper with nature for the sake of its health and prosperity. If you want to see nature untampered with, wander through the woods in a place like Oklahoma - you'll find very quickly that unaltered nature isn't that magical. National parks, on the other hand? Curated, fire hazards cleared, trash tightly regulated. This is where medieval era RANGERS came from, a royal field police who would prevent poaching and the molestation of nature. Basically the equivalent of a modern game warden, though rangers of old were far more proficient and far better respected.
Who says?? The word "suppose" is so idealistic. Tell the people of China, lran, lraq, Afganistan that thats what their land is suppose to look like. Theyd look at you like you were plum out of your mind or the most naive person who ever lived.
@@patriotpam777I think he meant "oldschool architecture" should be the norm instead of brutalist concrete and glass blocks. And why are you so venomous and hostile? Heidi vibes. The first book I ever read. The impact was so strong, when thirty years later I first visited those sun dappled pastures and heard the cows coming home, I felt I knew the place intimately and kept wondering why, as I come from a sweltering tropical country, and then I remembered Heidi. It was like a dream coming true, I just didn't want to leave the place.

I visited Switzerland 21 years ago. It was in Interlaken and along the Rhine river we sailed. We stayed in Interlaken. Waking up in the morning to the sound of cow bells and gentle mooing in the fields, you look up on the mountains and see chalets, and snow. And then visit the town and see the shops. Such peace, such beauty. And the river was clear, absolutely clear. Had a slight green tinge but the water itself was absolutely clear. And the green banks even higher up on the mountainsides. And then lastly seeing the Jungfrau in the background. Wow, what a sight to behold. It holds a special place in my heart. Particularly since I am from South Africa, the bottom end of the continent

I found out recently that a lot of elitists live in Switzerland, and while they are perfectly willing to destroy the rest of the planet, they don’t want any of that crap in their own backyard. And it shows. This is what the world could look like if people just left us alone.

When nature isn't tampered with, the beauty is and will always be a sight to behold.
That is very tampered with...
💯👍
