    I'm Japanese Hanshin Tigers fan.
    Fujinami showed an extraordinary performance from the first year to the third year after graduating from high school, but after the fourth year, he struggled with control and had a difficult time.
    However, after he began to challenge the middleman, he showed a pitch that increased the speed of the ball and made him feel like he was reviving.
    Fujinami is a player much loved by Hanshin fans. I really want him to be active.
    sorry for the long sentence😂

    I won’t forgive Kanemoto who mentally crushed Fujinami by making scientifically and psychologically foolish direction over him. He has the best physique ever in NPB history, and it was so easy for us to imagine him playing as a consistent MLB SP. Hope he’ll bring back what he used to be in Oakland.

      Media, fans and OB destroyed Fujinami's confidence. Fujinami was such a pitcher that he remained in the final selection for the Sawamura Award in his third year.

      @@liamfish6213pretty sure what he is talking about is when Fujinami was throwing a no hitter he never took him out until he was at almost 200 pitches, he was never the same again, he also gave up 8 runs before he took him out, that’s what I remember

    Coming to this video after the A's signed Fujinami, thanks for the insight! Also, I'm curious why you blurred the scorebugs?

    • @YakyuCosmopolitan
      @YakyuCosmopolitan  Рік тому +2

      Some Japanese channels automatically blur the scorebugs for copyright reasons. Possibly because it has the logo or sponsorship of a different company on it. Kind of annoying but I got used to it.

    I'm actually kinda surprised Fujinami decided to go Major knowing how inconsistent he is, in fact this year probably his best years since 2015.
    I'm expecting him to at least venturing NPB Free Agency first at least to fix his inconsistency.

      He can't get anything done with Hanshin and he won't make less money or get worse training if he gets an MLB contract. If he fails he can always try elsewhere in NPB too.

      Of course. Fujinami sometimes have thrown dangerous ball for right-handed batter in NPB. He might improve it somewhat,but he could kill Judge, Arenado and so on if he would be starter.

    Very happy to have this video available, I've been trying to be more aware of international players. I'd like Masataka Yoshida or Kodai Senga for the Mets (all three tbh), but I'd be happy seeing them make the MLB if it's in the cards for them.

      This is an extremely frustrating off-season to be an O's fan so far. I wasn't expecting to land a top tier starting pitchers like Degrom or Verlander, but there were rumors that we were gonna go heavy on the mid tier guys like Bassitt, guys in that range. But now pretty much every worthwhile FA has signed and all we've added so far are Gibson, Frazier, McCann, a couple minor league contracts and a rule 5 pick. I thought it was supposed to be "liftoff on spending some $ to supplement the young guys. Instead it's the same as the past few off seasons, just a few washed up depth pieces on 1 year deals so hopefully we can flip 'em at the trade deadline if they bounce back at all. If the Angelos family isn't gonna spend $ on this team they need to sell to someone who will or Bmore will lose this team to Nashville.

    Red Sox fan here. I’m actually high on Masataka Yoshida. He can be the primary left fielder while also seeing time at DH. Left field at Fenway can be tricky, but if Manny Ramirez can play decently, I trust Yoshida to figure it out with good coaching, too.

    I'd love to see the Jays get in on Senga. They've tried a handful of Japanese players over the years and Kawasaki was the closest thing to a success. Seeing them get in on a real top-tier signing (that would hopefully bring top-tier results) would be exciting and hopefully build some inroads for further major players down the road.

      Yes due to his exceptional physical profile as an Asian SP, there’s no coach for him in Japan. If he had come before he met Kanemoto, he’d have become a consistent inning eater like 3.5-4.0/200+IP easily.

      Yoshida better hitter with high walk and low strike out rate. Suzuki has more power and way better defense. Overall I would say Suzuki as he was always in the NPB MVP race.

    • @YakyuCosmopolitan
      @YakyuCosmopolitan  Рік тому +6

      They’re almost equally good. It’s difficult to pick between them since they do it in slightly different ways. Suzuki has a higher ceiling because he’s a slugger but Yoshida probably has a higher floor in MLB. Even if the power doesn’t fully translate, he can hit for contact.
      Career wRC+
      Suzuki: 169
      Yoshida: 176
      Suzuki is the better defender and runner though.

    If only former Hanshin coach Kanemoto hadn’t mentally destroyed Fujinami…
    He has the best physical potential ever in NPB history. He is right-handed Japanese Randy Johnson: 6’6, exceptional arm span as an Asian pitcher, unique form, unhittable 95-100 fastball/sinker and 87-90 slider. Most notably, his stamina is tremendous. Even at the age of 19, he effortlessly touched 95-97 while throwing 100-120NP in every appearance. But unfortunately due to his multi-dimensional uniqueness as asian, there was no ne in NPB who can coach him. I hope he succeeds as a SP, while realizing that he has little chance.

If he does fine in fielding, he will be a good addition to any team. Somehow teams would not like to use him as DH. Fujinami is too inconsistent n he is not able to get into rotation in MLB.
