I’m a 67 year old male/grandpa quilter who just started quilting during the pandemic. Now I’m hooked, love to machine quilt, and love the big spaces to quilt in. You are sooooo good, my goal is to be half as good as you! That would be amazing!
I love your show. Your quilts are amazing! I’d like to throw out a tip and hope it’s ok. Before trimming off the excess from the back of your corner ear, smooth all layers down and be sure the new piece matches the size of the original cut underneath. Then trim if satisfied. I hope that made sense.
This is stunning! My daughter loves this style! I made one for her and just made up the pattern! She loved it and I loved quilting the negative space! Any time I got stuck on what to quilt I told myself to channel my inner Angela and it turned out great!
I loved this video and I love this solid quilt ! So glad to see you... and in this "midnight" style, very proud of you! Bless you, your family and your business dear!!! ♡ LE
Thank you Angela , you have given me some valuable ideas for my quilt which I have been holding back from quilting as it has alot of angles and square points which was putting me off doing it. plus a lot of empty spaces. So this has given me some courage and confidence to tackle it .I will certainly post my finished result on Instagram
LOVE it I bought it from the shoppe, Now I am even more excited to make it. THANK YOU SO MUCH. I am now on my way to buy the backing and the threads. Yours looks amazing.
Beautiful quilt and quilting! My friends and I have been using the Folded Corner ruler for hst’s and binding strips and we think it’s a game changer too! Thank you for one of my new favorite episodes!
I have a self designed quilt top with a TON of "negative" space and was flummoxed on how to quilt it. I hope this gives me the necessary courage to leap INTO the middle of that space and get it done! Thanks Angela.
I love your amazing quilt ! It’s good to get out of your comfort zone to discover new techniques and tricks. Thanks you so much for all your videos. Take care
Awesome quilting and like the folded corner clipper ruler…although I do use a ruler to do the stitching! No marking necessary. I’m still not Great yet with rulers so it lets me practice ruler work. However that ruler would make nice mitered corners, huh. Beautiful examples of background quilting, that IS your comfort zone haha I think I would do that with smaller motifs and less large background spaces, but I do like your thoughts on extending the seam lines to narrow the space and create secondary repeats or patterns and the thread colors echoing the pattern. This quilt reminds me of a SW blanket, which is wonderful in those bold colors. I found a two-fabric piecing similar to this, it’s created with joined half square triangles (say 7.5”) that are then cut again into three 2.5” bars, stitched together , can be arranged as chevrons or just successively making two fabric contrasting strips of different seam line heights, reminiscent of the SW blanket styles. Smaller blocks for that method, depending on the size of the half squares triangle at the start! Or I’ld add some kachina doll or other appliqués motifs to really make it in the SW style, break up that large background in similar colors with echoing around the motif. Appliqués-raw edge-are Great and easy in FMQ too! Fun theme!
WOW WOW WOW!!! Angela, this is so amazing! I love free motion quilting too, but I need more room and the throat on my machine needs to be bigger! I love your work! Love this pattern too! ✂🧵🪡😍😘
I am in awe of your artistry. This is so incredibly creative and beautiful. Could you give us an idea of how many hours you spent on just the quilting? And thanks so much for sharing your skills with us. I am a beginner and am inspired by your designs and appreciate your teaching style that makes quilting exciting and more approachable for newbies.
Love how you quilted this one. I like lots of negative space as it shows off my quilting. I believe if I spend a lot of time quilting feathers, you should see the feathers. Quilts with lots of piecing or applique sometimes becomes the headliners and the quilting is not seen. i like my quilting to be seen.
This was so inspiring! My free motion quilting is so improved over the last couple years because of your "coaching". I will have to make a quilt similar to this one to fill up that negative space!!!
I love this one!! I’ve been wanting to make a quilt for my dad and this one looks like so much fun! Your quilting is gorgeous and I’m so happy to see a new episode of the midnight quilter 😆💜
This quilt is stunning! I love your fabric. I am currently working on the quilt walk 2021 quilt from this past summer, and your fabric (I believe it's called summer stroll) is amazing 😁
Oh wow! I'm following you for a long time and I think this one is by far ma favorite of all the quilting I've seen (and I love all you do!). It's amazing! Thank you so much for transmitting your passion and being so inspiring and encouraging!
Love this one Angela! I haven’t tried rulers yet even though I have had them for several years. I am such a chicken about doing it. I love all of those lines! Thanks for sharing another home run! You are awesome!
This is definitely out of my color comfort zone too, but it turned out great! Very cool modern quilt, and love how you handled all that background area.
ouff this is soo beautifull!! i absolutely love those tutorials you make on quilting with your sewing machine!! and that quilt ohh boy...its a WINNER for me!!!!! Thanks Angela!! P.S did you start quilting in the middle of the quilt ?
I've been Marathon watching your videos and i really enjoy them. You are a great confidence builder. I have peiced several quilts but have never "quilted" one. Do you suggest i stard with free motion or ruller quilting?
The large amount of negative space is a bit intimidating, but watching you gives me confidence to try it. On another note, do you have a video about basting a quilt? I remember you mentioning that you use iron-on batting. I tried it and am hoping there are some techniques to make it a little less work. But in this video, I noticed that you are using those giant straight pins that long-arm quilters use.
Woooow!!! This is mind blowing 💕 you are awesome. Thank you so much for this video. I wonder if you struggle at all like I do while working on domestic sewing machine and a large quilt?!! It’s really beautiful and love the way it you have chosen the perfect designs to make it so beautiful 💕
Hi Angela! Long time fan and subscriber. Can you do a video on the modern binding technique I saw at the recent Quiltcon show in Arizona? I am unsure if the exact name for this process but was told it is faced edge binding???
Angela, can you tell us about that beautiful Handi Quilter machine you're using? It's running very quietly, and the throat space looks huge. What model is it please? Thank you for sharing your expertise so generously with us.
Awesome. I truly wish I had your vision and your gumption to jump in and quilt all that negative space. How long is that process for you? I am frozen at the thought of machine quilting because I don't want to ruin a quilt that took me time and expense to make. How do you get over that?
That was an important Public Service Announcement. It's SO easy to do the entire thing wrong and not realize. So I hear... not like I'd ever do that. :/

Totally agree with you, Larry!
That is so awesome! It's great quilting, isn't it. I hate cutting out the fabric, though...lol
I must be blind! Where do I get this pattern?!? I LOVE IT!
So happy to find you again. Love your shows!!!

I am in love with all of this!! I don’t think I could tackle that quilting in that detail quite yet! But maybe someday!
This is stunning! My daughter loves this style! I made one for her and just made up the pattern! She loved it and I loved quilting the negative space! Any time I got stuck on what to quilt I told myself to channel my inner Angela and it turned out great!

Suggest that you start on small projects. Place mats or pillow covers. That’s what I did. Her quilts are not huge king sized either.
That was an important Public Service Announcement. It's SO easy to do the entire thing wrong and not realize. So I hear... not like I'd ever do that. :/
Is there a video for the striped quilt at the beginning of this video
