Set in Garrods department store, Lord Eynsford has been courting Mary disguised as a bank clerk who was engaged to Lady Betty who wants instead to marry Hughie an amateur thief who has stolen a trophy cup, accidentally switched suitcases with Mary's euphonium playing cousin Timothy who had the trophy subsequently stolen by professional thief Teddy Smithers. You get the idea.
