Just an FYI, there was a part when you were fighting a couple of skeletons that wouldn't die. There was a nearby totem that has an aura that prevents allies from dying.
/Jewels/ go into your passive tree(*), not gems.
(*Yes vets, I know that's not a 100% true statement, but for the time being it is for her)

Ah yep that makes sense re the totem! Sorry, jewels not gems 🤣 I have 2 now but I am holding off until I find something I really like!

@@CassKGaming Try to path near what we call a 'two-pointer', a jewel socket that's so near your main pathing that you can grab it with only 2 passive points. 2 Passive points can get you a fair bit of good stuff on the tree, 3 points can give you a minor node, a notable, and the associated mastery node, so a three-point jewel socket has to have something really good in it to justify the investment...
And yes, this is another reason to not path through the elemental damage wheel just above the witch.

      @CassKGaming  3 місяці тому

@viljakainu1548 I think I have an idea of where I want to go with the jewel socket and the tree and coincidentally it’s on the way to a couple of bigger nodes I want! I am prioritising those first though and will get the jewel when I get a jewel worthy of socketing.

@@CassKGaming It's great to have the option to just nab the socket when you get something nice. Also, the socket itself takes up the passive point, but you can switch the jewel inside the socket in and out...
and jewels can roll stats and resists, so they can be a good way to patch up your res or stat deficiencies as you go!

nice!!! congrats on reaching act 3, you're now close to having to chose your ascendancy! by this time you should REALLY focus on 1 damage skill which is of 1 element, so since you chose witch, you'll have 3 options for ascendancy: Occultist (focused on cold/chaos damage and curses), Necromancer (minions) or Elementalist (elemental [fire, cold or lightning, not chaos] damage over time)!
oh and 1 more thing: your skitterbots don't deal damage, they solely cause 2 elemental ailments on enemies: chill and shock, chill reduces action speed and shock increases damage taken. if you want them to deal a tiny bit of damage you can link the gem to the Infernal Legion support gem, it's a nice little thingy!

    • @viljakainu1548
      @viljakainu1548 3 місяці тому +1

And the tiny bit of damage won't be worth anywhere near the mana reservation for any possible configuration AFAIK? It's a total noob trap :D

Hehe I streamed act 3 the other day (vod is on twitch) and have to chop it up for here. I got through the Labyrinth and picked my Ascendancy! It was so fun. I think I picked a good one :)
And re the Skitterbots… I just love them :( But I suppose I will look into a potential replacement due to how much everyone keeps telling me to replace them. I am considering how I would like the build to look and wondering if so can make it! I would love some kind of semi permanent fire shield/fire aura that damages close enemies. Idk, I guess I will see if it’s possible!

@@CassKGamingWarning: big wall of text incoming.
There *is* a fire aura that damages nearby close enemies and you already own and used it: Righteous Fire. You have to build around the skill though but it's not *that* hard to do. Look for Fire Resistance on your gear and the skill tree, the notable passive Fire Walker near your starting point for example or the notable passive Holy Fire in the upper left corner of the tree. The latter one is especially good for RF.
In order to scale the damage RF inflicts on enemies, you should look for fire damage, elemental damage, burning damage, damage over time, "(fire) damage over time multiplier", area damage, generic "damage" and life/energy shield. Apart from life/energy shield, none of them will increase the damage you take from RF but be weary of effects that increase damage you take like shock or reduced resistances from for example enemy curses (Elemental Weakness, Flammability). Speaking of curses, get one from Clarissa. Fou your build I recommend Flammability.
There are also two auras that help tremendously with (fire) Resistance: Purity of Fire and Purity of Elements.
Purity of Elements can be bought at Clarissa in Act 3, Purity of Fire however is a little bit more tricky for Witches. You need to do the quest "A fixture of Fate" located in the Library which is located in the Imperial Gardens in act 3. Once you've done the quest the NPC Siosa in the Library offers every single gem that is available up until this point, even gems you don't get to buy as a witch until then.
If you only find room for one of them, I'd recommend Purity of Fire if you want to use RF and Purity of Elements if not. Both will be a *lot* of Fire resistance though.
There is also a kinda hidden passive that makes using RF a LOT easier but first a little crash course in passive skill tree terminology:
There are six different types of passive notes on the tree.
      1) Small Passives: The ,well, small passive points like all those +10 Intelligence/Strength/Dexterity notes and all smaller notes that lead to
      2) Notable Passives: The bigger ones like Heart of Flame or Mystic Bulwark for example.
      3) Keystone Passives: The huge notes with the golden rim. Those can be build defining but can also brick and entire build if chosen poorly.
      4) Jewel Sockets: Blank notes for Jewels and cluster jewels (more on those once you found one)
      5) Ascendency Notes like Shaper of Flames
      and the "hidden" ones:
      6) Passive Masteries: When you put a point into a notable passive that is part of a so called cluster - for example the fire cluster in the top middle of the tree with the notables Heart of Flame and Breath of Flames - you unlock Fire Mastery. Right beneath Breath of Flames is the Passive Mastery "Fire Mastery" you can alocate a passive skillpoint into this mastery and can choose one of multiple passive effects. In this case one of the following:
      1) Fire Exposure you inflict applies an extra -5% to Fire Resistance
      2) 40% of Physical Damage Converted to Fire Damage
      3) Burning Enemies you kill have a 3% chance to Explode, dealing a tenth of their maximum Life as Fire Damage
      4) 50% chance to refresh Ignite Duration on Critical Strike
      5) Regenerate 1 Life per second for each 1% Uncapped Fire Resistance
      6) Critical Strikes do not inherently Ignite. 100% increased Damage with Hits against Ignited Enemies
There are several Fire Mastery clusters and whenever you allocate a point into one of their Notable Passives you can put a point into Fire Mastery choose another one of these effects.
In Righteous Fire's case the number 5) Regenerate 1 Life per second for each 1% Uncapped Fire Resistance makes it incredibly easy to sustain RF without burning to a crisp yourself, as long as you have loads of fire resistance. Note that this regeneration has no cap, normally your resistances are capped at 75% (it's actually 90% but for the sake of simplicity we ignore that for now) so if your fire resistance would be let's say 200% you still will suffer 25% of the enemy fire damage. However, the mastery states 1 Life per seconod per UNcapped fire resistance so you still would regenernate 200 life per second.
TL/DR: Get as much fire resistance as possible, get as much life regen as possible including that Fire Mastery effect, try out Righteous Fire and watch how the unrighteous will turn to ash - TO ASH.
P.S.: If you have trouble managing your auras' mana costs then take a gander on what "Mana Mastery" has to offer. Also Life Mastery has some *very* good passives worth speccing into.
P.P.S.: The majority of RF-Builds use Skitterbots sooo... ;)

    >I'm GOOD!
    >I also deny responsibility for my mistakes and the bad stuff I do and the bad reasons I didit!
    XD XD XD
Also, spells get a LOT of their damage from gem level. GEM level. So now that you've leveled up so much, you have huge damage output and don't have to look for upgrades so much.
Also, Herald of Fire has more effect once you turn it on.
Also, Kraityn might not have been a mistake it's been weeks since I saw you activate a quicksilver flask :P
Also, if you're not running out of mana, you probably have too much mana and definitely don't need more mana from the tree!

I AM good! That apocalypse was 100% on Helena and Silk! I saved them AND fixed the apocalypse for those ingrates! I will maintain I did nothing wrong until the day I die!
Haha once I edit the stream I did to show act 3, you will see me using the flasks heaps!!! Oh and I have things reserving mana now, so I am going to have a look into what’s reserving so much :)

@@CassKGaming You're either not noting that pretty much all of the reservation skills are percentage based, so increasing your mana pool doesn't increase how many of those auras you can fit in, or you have linked a support gem to one of those skills which is massively increasing how much it's reserving.

    • @CassKGaming
      @CassKGaming  3 місяці тому

@whypick1_ yeah you’re right, I haven’t paid as much attention to the % reservation as I should. So I will have a to go through them and see where it’s going. I got… very caught up in the absolute chaos and fun when I was streaming the game 🤣 I probably have something linked that I shouldn’t have or something redundant that is reserving mana. Knowing me 🤣

@@CassKGaming For mana, the only question that matters is: Can I cast all my abilities as I want or am I running out of mana? That is, unless you build a mana-stacker, and your base class is wrong for that, so forget manastackers exist. ;)
You need enough UNRESERVED mana to be able to pay the cost -- max mana is used for certain mana-stacking builds that require things you won't have access to.
And you need enough mana recovery per second to offset the mana cost per second of your main skill. If you use a channelling skill, like Incinerate
VERY IMPORTANT SIDENOTE learn to finish off mobs with releasing final wave of Incinerate + Flame Dash combo into the pack to save time!!!! Learn to see when you've ignited an enemy and release+Flame Dash+Ignite damage will finish them off -- DO NOT circle back for the loot unless it's *currency* or a unique you want or a viable upgrade, never turn back to loot trash. End sidenote.
Your mana cost per second is unlikely to get high enough to warrant ANY investment into mana, you can lug around a mana flask in the campaign and even use a low-level Clarity to help if you keep running out of mana.
Do NOT reserve mana with clarity if you're not running out of mana. Unless you have a watcher's eyer with clarity mod or support clarity with arrogance to reserve some of your life, and you'll know that you want to reserve life when you know.

And besides, you gave a thumbs up to killing children because they mocked the weirdo, so good was out the window before you landed on Twilight Strand :P
