- Winter storm Jonas wreaked havoc in southeastern Kentucky and northern Tennessee overnight on January 22nd. The next morning, I headed north into "The Gorge," a scenic stretch of the CSX KD Subdivision across Duff Mountain between La Follette, TN and Jellico, TN.
The railroad was barely moving due to frozen switches, power outages, and speed restrictions, but they were moving none-the-less. We only caught 3 trains all day, but they were well worth the effort.
Sit back and enjoy the sights and sounds of modern mountain railroading in a surreal winter setting!
There is just something else about trains rolling through a winter wonderland.
Great video ... any word on if they still load up near Pruden/Fonde? About 8 years ago I think they were maybe loading once a week.
Wow, Evan. That was beautifully done!
Evan, your work just gets better and better. A very professional look at CSX in the snow.
