The Nissan Qashqai was the car that really lit a firecracker under the family SUV trend, and it caught on so rapidly that millions of them are now on the road. It’s still going strong today and has evolved to meet changing tastes - notably when it comes to engine options.
And it needed to evolve. You see, while the original Qashqai had the market pretty much to itself, this third-generation model faces tough competition as rival manufacturers roll out their own takes on the hugely successful SUV format.
Naturally, Nissan has stuck with the winning combination of an elevated driving position, stylish yet reasonably rugged looks and down-to-earth running costs, while also giving buyers plenty of trim options - from the enticingly-priced Visia up to the luxurious Tekna+.
The Qashqai's engine choices consist of two 1.3 DIG-T petrols (138bhp or 156bhp), which have some very mild hybrid assistance, plus an e-Power engine that aims to blur the lines between petrol and electric cars.
How? Well, the e-Power is unusual because its petrol engine doesn't actually drive the wheels. Instead it powers a generator, and the electricity this produces is sent to a motor that propels the car along.
The Nissan Qashqai's key rivals include the smart Peugeot 3008, the fun-to-drive Seat Ateca and the generally excellent Kia Sportage and Skoda Karoq. At the top end of the range, its price creeps into the premium territory of the Audi Q3 and Volvo XC40.

I can’t understand why this car is not sold in Japan although Nissan’s HQ is located in Japan.
This is the best design among all of Nissan cars. (other than interior 😢)
Japan has Nissan Kicks epower (P15) since 2020 (m.b. earlier)- which is just slightly smaller that this qq, but have a much more reliable old atmo 1.2 engine. 4x4 available for kicks since the end of 2022
Great video and beautiful car. Can you tell me the version of e-power? Accenta, Business or N-Connecta? Or something other?
This doesn’t seems to have any connection of what is sold into EU & UK market.
In the EU, in theory it shall be a Tekna due to the fog lamps, leather interior and panoramic sunroof, extras which are only available on Tekna and Tekna Plus, however in EU market, Tekna also have as standard 19” alloy wheels (this seems to have 18”), electric front seats, Bose sound system and electric trunk lid for open and close.

I am not a car designer but wondering is it really that hard to make the screen embedded into dash??

It’s just because of FOV (field of view).
The FOV when the screen is embedded into the dashboard is minimal to none.
The point of moving the screen intro the FOV of the driver is to minimise the timing between looking at the screen and looking forward.
If this doesn’t make sense, just have a look where usually the drivers mount their mobile phones on cars without sat navs, and no, in 2023 it’s not just because there are only windscreen mounting systems, it’s just because as higher you can have them, as quickly you can switch back to the traffic.
HeadsUp display’s are just another example of trying to keep the drivers look forward only.
Does Nissan has clean Qasqai - diesel option.. Without E or hybrid... Just plain diesel engine?
