  • On Wednesday, Georgia's parliament approved the first reading of a controversial "foreign agents" bill, which has sparked days of protests and has been compared to Russian legislation used by the Kremlin to crack down on dissent.
"No argument statements won't make us rethink these decisions. This is why, once again, I offer them to start open discussions," Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said.
Meanwhile, the bill provoked days of protests and even resulted in a fight between lawmakers in Georgia, particularly during a session of parliament as the ruling party looked set to move forward with the bill.
The bill must pass two more readings before becoming law. However, the European Union has expressed concerns that the legislation could stifle freedoms and block the country's path to membership.

Here's what China's leadership fears the most. Putin shares the same fear:
    - fair election,
    - freedom of speech,
    - transparency, and
    - the international rules-based system.

Lots of talk, but no actual description of the law, which as I understand it, simply requires NGOs and other entities who receive more than 20% of their funding from foreign sources to register as “foreign agents.” It sounds as much like a U.S. law as it does a Russian one. I hope the Georgian people might stay free of undue influence from the U.S., the EU, The Russian Federation, or anyone else. This looks too much like pre-war Ukraine, with all the CIA, et al, hijinks, if you ask me. I think I even saw Ukrainian flags in the hands of some protestors who were also waving around a lot of EU flags. Not a good sign. Outsiders are messing with internal affairs, I fear. Be careful Georgians, don’t become pawns - you see what happened to Ukraine.

All these protesters have to be paid actors or something ... Clearly this is the evil doing of CIA agents and angelo-saxony's.
I mean, for what other reason would Georgians hold a grudge against the peace loving and friendly Russians? Makes no sense to me. 🤷‍♂

The US law (FARA) only requires organizations to register if they are in contact or are managed by foreign government organization, the Georgian version of this law requires any organization or person to register as a foreign agent if they are receiving more than 20% of income from foreign countries, doesn't matter if the organization follows foreign interests. see the difference? using this law the ruling party can basically discredit anyone they choose as there are hardly any NGOs which do not receive funding from abroad. also, Georgian people can not count on equal treatment from the government regarding all NGOs and will most likely not label organizations receiving funding from Russia like the news organization Alt-Info and many more.

Also, if you ask any Georgian if they would prefer being influenced by USA or Russia and give no other option to choose, they would most likely choose USA because at least they didn't invade and occupy 20% of our country. (P.S this only applies when there is no other option, we strive for freedom from everyone).
Regarding the post Ukraine statement, USA doesn't have a lot to gain by making us go to war. we could maybe only resist Russia for a few months with their aid and losing this war would mean Russia will be right next to one of NATO countries and gets more strategic advantage in the black sea which i doubt they want.
