I love the character of the Amyrlin. One quirk about her that I love - you see she was a fisherman's daughter, so her pattern of speech has a lot f fish-related sayings, if you listen for them you'll notice it. 😄 I also love that actress so I was all *squeeee* this episode. Plus getting to see the inside of the tower and Nynaeve getting called out like she needed to by Moiraine - Nynaeve is my GIRL but she does need to get checked occasionally. 😂😂
This was the last episode they filmed before being shut down by COVID - Barney Harris (Mat) didn't come back after filming resumed, and has been recast for season 2. So the whole Mat arc for the next 2 episodes got cancelled, in effect.
So they tried to explain it in the show but maybe didn't do a great job: Moraine and Lan have been searching for the dragon reborn for 20 years, ever since Gitara had the foretelling in front of her and Suian when they were training in the white tower. They can't share what she's been doing because they would both be stilled for hiding the foretelling from the white tower and finding the dragon and telling no one. That's what Moraine has been up to and why she's so secretive. It's also why she asked to be exiled. She would not be able to continue her quest if she stayed at the tower, which is what her superior blue sister was telling her to do. I hope that makes sense.
I thought Mat was the dragon until this episode. When Moiraine pulled the dagger's black sand out of him, my hope was dashed. I really wanted him to learn how to control it. I do wish they had written 2 more episodes this season. 8 wasn't enough for me.
This my fav ep of the season. I loved seeing more of Tar Valon & seeing all the different color’s of Ajah’s. I’d definitely be green, if guys were allowed. Jesus have mercy! Sista Strong Jaw deh yah a do dih most! She was workin on my nerves & it looks like her red sisters are just like her! Moiraine w/her hair did in that blue dresses in the White Tower gave me Arwen in Minas Tirith vibes! Yea, Moiraine basically made an Unbreakable Vow, honey. I’d hope that if Siuan dies or if another Amyrlin Seat is elected before Siuan calls Moiraine home, the oath would break.

So, having seen Siuan and her backstory, what do you think about the story that Nynaeve told about the old Wisdom, who was supposedly turned away for being too poor? Moiraine is an Aes Seadi, and even more than that a Blue Ajah. She won't share information unless she has to.
Glad you picked up Moiraine swore to SIUAN, not the Amyrilian Seat. I feel like that will be important. Also it REALLY bothers me how Barney's (Mat) final line of the show is "is it too late to change my mind?" Like... idk. It feels weird. Like its the actor not the character and he's breaking the fourth wall. I know that's not the shows intent at all but it feels that way to me.
Yes. The wording of what is sworn on the oath rod is very important. As it is said “An Aes Sedai never lies, but the truth she speaks, may not be the truth you hear.

The "is it too late to change my mind" is kinda... like he regrets leaving the show and that's his final line. Its like its Barney talking to us, the audience. I know that's not how its supposed to come off but... idk weird feeling from that scene.
Yup the amyrlin seat is like a position right? There’s a chance someone else can take over. So she swore to her lover. Which was clever and romantic imo Although I guess to all other Aes Sedai in the hall, it would sound like Moiraine was insulting Siuan? Even earlier Siuan brought up Moiraine being a Lady to look like they were beefing. So it would like look real bad to the other women that Moiraine was bringing up Siuan’s birthplace and stuff.
