    The 39th floor?!!!🤣
    I wonder how many people got the sideways reference to the 39 prohibited forms of work on Shabbat?

    The prohibition of using electrical devices on Shabbat. Some authorities believe it's a Torah violation due to "building" or "completing" a device by turning it on. Others see it as a rabbinic prohibition of "creating something new" (molid). Additionally, there's a concept called "weekday activities" (uvdin de-chol), where certain actions are prohibited to preserve the special atmosphere of Shabbat. Despite differences in reasoning, all opinions agree that using electricity is forbidden on Shabbat.

      It's ridiculous to say that "all opinions agree" about the electricity issue. Because activating an electrical circuit is none of those things. It is not "completing something new" because it is all the same stuff that was there before, nor is it "performing work" because it is actually reducing the amount of work a person has to perform.

    • @allphaseelec5738
      @allphaseelec5738 Місяць тому

      #1 is Fire NOT BUILDING a Circuit.
      Electricity is fire which is the Prohibition of lightning a fire on the Shabbat!!

      If you have to think too hard about it... then you probably shouldn't do it on shabbat... keep it simple.

    In defense of the Shabbat elevator... it is the same din that stops us from pushing buttons on the elevator or flicking on a light that keeps us also from turning on social media, smart phones, TVs etc and actually forces us to spend Shabbes reconnecting with family, friends and God... so i appreciate a good laugh but i will stay with the Shabbes elevator, תודה

      חייבת שלא להסכים. אם ללחוץ על קומה במעלית או על האור בחדר יגרום לך להתנתק מהמשפחה שלך אז משהו פה לא תקין. להבין את ההבדל בין עבודה לבין מנוחה יהיה מה שיקל מאוד על החיים של כולנו.

      @PhoenixL0vee It only takes a small break from tradition before the whole world collapses. One elevator button, next thing you are throwing out your kippa and dancing on a pole.

    What about if the lift had facial recognition and based on that knew what floor you wanted, so you have done absolutely nothing, been completely passive, would that be allowed?

    • @justincase7848
      @justincase7848 Місяць тому

      It's a good question and would probably be debated, being that you're not actually completely passive - you're causing the machine to do whatver it does when it recognizes your face, simply by stepping inside.
      There are similar problems with hotels with all their automatic sensors that adjust the heat, turn lights and and doors on off open closed etc. it's a problem
