The prohibition of using electrical devices on Shabbat. Some authorities believe it's a Torah violation due to "building" or "completing" a device by turning it on. Others see it as a rabbinic prohibition of "creating something new" (molid). Additionally, there's a concept called "weekday activities" (uvdin de-chol), where certain actions are prohibited to preserve the special atmosphere of Shabbat. Despite differences in reasoning, all opinions agree that using electricity is forbidden on Shabbat.
It's ridiculous to say that "all opinions agree" about the electricity issue. Because activating an electrical circuit is none of those things. It is not "completing something new" because it is all the same stuff that was there before, nor is it "performing work" because it is actually reducing the amount of work a person has to perform.
Modi, there's people in the comments explaining why you can't use the elevator, Make them STOP LOL Thanks Modi, you get it. I just found you tonight & you had me crying. I needed that. Hugs
In defense of the Shabbat elevator... it is the same din that stops us from pushing buttons on the elevator or flicking on a light that keeps us also from turning on social media, smart phones, TVs etc and actually forces us to spend Shabbes reconnecting with family, friends and God... so i appreciate a good laugh but i will stay with the Shabbes elevator, תודה
@PhoenixL0vee It only takes a small break from tradition before the whole world collapses. One elevator button, next thing you are throwing out your kippa and dancing on a pole.
don't forget the fridge and having your doorkey hanging form your waist, I see it as tradition more than anything, to each their own, live and let live
I couldn't agree more. I deal with so many of them at work, it's even to the point where I'll occasionally argue with them in Yiddish to see which ones can understand me.
I'm a (goy) Christian and believe that Mashiach has come already (but coming back) - but this is still some funny stuff. Saw the shabbat lifts when I was in Jerusalem on a shabbat.
What about if the lift had facial recognition and based on that knew what floor you wanted, so you have done absolutely nothing, been completely passive, would that be allowed?
It's a good question and would probably be debated, being that you're not actually completely passive - you're causing the machine to do whatver it does when it recognizes your face, simply by stepping inside. There are similar problems with hotels with all their automatic sensors that adjust the heat, turn lights and and doors on off open closed etc. it's a problem
Omg the german joke was really hysterical. That's real jewish humor.
🤣 Gimbels ! Fell on the floor !
Toda
The 39th floor?!!!🤣
I wonder how many people got the sideways reference to the 39 prohibited forms of work on Shabbat?
Thank you for the tip!
1939
Didn’t think about it at first lol!
That was my tip too
"Gimbels." I'm laughing so hard! You're a genius! I love you! ❤❤❤❤😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
1:48 The way he switched from fake German to English made me spit out the water I was drinking
I can't stop watching this! Just the title alone has me in stitches! I love you, Modi! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂❤❤❤❤❤

Karen.
No one is looking for this right now.
@@MD-gx6kv I was! His handle is literally "Jewish halachah". Calling someone a Karen ain't mashiach energy my dude. ✌🏻

#1 is Fire NOT BUILDING a Circuit.
Electricity is fire which is the Prohibition of lightning a fire on the Shabbat!!
If you have to think too hard about it... then you probably shouldn't do it on shabbat... keep it simple.
I remember those elevators! Loved this -- brought back a lot of funny memories! 😂
Trust me when I tell you, the rabbis have no problems explaining this law. This is just a comedian, trying to get a laugh.
I have trust issues 🤷🏻♂️
They will explain it alright but will make zero logical sense.
Gimbels in the elevator! hahaha! The Karens did it!
Modi, there's people in the comments explaining why you can't use the elevator, Make them STOP LOL
Thanks Modi, you get it.
I just found you tonight & you had me crying.
I needed that.
Hugs
Was expecting him to say "Berlin, 1939..."
(if you got it, schoyach...)

He nails everything
Modi, a "Keren" is more like a "KLAFTEH" not a "YENTEH"!

i dont think so because it's still would be you activating something
Subbed 👍🏼 😂
39 = 39 melachos lol
The reason why Yentas are not big fans of comedy is because they have to shut up and listen. It goes against their entire being.
39th floor😂😂
Anyone who can explain it probably doesn’t use it😂
😂
❤❤❤
so good :)
What does “stoich”
mean?
I think it means good job.
Shkoyach
It means good job, well done
It's short for yasher koach. Look that up as it's hard to translate
@@civiliseddebateyeah is a combination of thank you and good job
Moshiach energy all around.
What does schtoach mean? @ 1:58
It means great job, well done. Shcoyech
Well done
Shkoyech
It's short for Yshar koach
Which basically means "good for you"
Thank you
He's said: "Shkoyach" - it's a Yiddish corruption of the Hebrew phrase "Yasher Koach" - wishing you strength or colloquially "well done".
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
😄😄😄😄
Shabbos lifts. Nightmare.
Just take the stairs
😆🤣🤣
Wheres your yarmulka???
Oy vey
Hes a jew right ?
Modi is usually better at this stuff. The Hitler jokes are getting too much.
Are you kidding that was flipping hilarious
thanks Karen.
What a bunch of nonsense Shabbat elevator. Stay home.
