Neil's segment has brutal climbs. I feel like Isaac should've done the last segment as he's closer to his prime and ligher than the others. Good job nonetheles. Kudos!
Props to the whole team, including Neil, doing 50k when you're out of shape is no joke, and you weren't that far off from the others anyway, fantastic effort. And Tom Couzens is a super hero, that ride looks like murder!
Refreshing to have you feature some XC style riding - most features these days, at least as witnessed on youtube, seem mostly focused on enduro / downhill. I was also wondering if you guys brought along any energy drink or bars during your rides? As with road racing, all that climbing really needs adequate supplemental carb's for anything more than 90 minutes or so. Looked like Neil was hitting a bonk toward the end. Nice video!
that looks like a really nice ride if done at a more leisurely pace. And what i would give for someone to open the gates for me too. Great vid, would love to see more like this. Top work guys
Did this as an adventure for my 55th. Birthday bash, after15 years not on a bike. Some of those hills are brutal climbs up, and challenging on the downhill. The climb up to chanctonbury ring, is just a killer Well done, great effort to all. Let’s see Si and crew do it !
Amazing effort, parts of that route are brutal. I live in Eastbourne and ride the SDW a fair amount but never gone further than B'ton - i am almost i tempted to go further, almost.
Tactical error. They had the person who was admittedly in the worst shape on the leg with the hardest climbs. Always anchor a relay with your strongest person.
Great Work boys. Need to share the combo strava file. And good to know locations you swapped the garmin over. Some of the clips not quite in realtime order I suspect. Given me the urge to have another go at SDW in a Day
Great effort guys! SDW just sucks the life out of you. Made my second attempt to ride it in one day a couple of weeks ago - called it a day at Ditchling Beacon - but if I'd had someone to open all those sodding gates for me...
Tremendous efforts all around, thanks guys! That's got to be a crushing feeling for Neil to see the average dropping after they handed him off the Garmin. Unrelated, do you think a 2x drive train for more top end on the flats/downs would have made an appreciable difference? There's days I miss my old bike with its 3x.
GMBN comes to my yard. The bit in the middle anyway. Should have roped Blake in & stopped off at Steyning for some jumpy action. Take your mind off the realisation it's all winch & plummet round here, not for fat downhillers!
Talking about stupid this. At least it's not as bad as Si Richardson. Trying to get a KOM starting at 2991m and finishing at 3961m Only to find you did it fast than the current KOM holder. Only to find out Strava didn't recognise it as the road has change that much.

I understand why they went the order they did as to try and give Neil a buffer but I agree the last section has brutal hills to tackle
I agree most of the climbing is at the end
Cool that you got the actual FKT holder on the show, that was a nice touch.
Props to the whole team, including Neil, doing 50k when you're out of shape is no joke, and you weren't that far off from the others anyway, fantastic effort.

FKT is what I'd be if I tried one of these!
Great effort 👍 I bet with the trio of Isaac, Rich, and Hank should be a dangerous combo 💪
Great video!! So refreshing to see a team/relay challenge on this channel, would love to see more like it, maybe a big downhill one??

Great effort guys that looked tough,Neil great stuff grinding it out in the end as you looked cooked.
Rich is so happy to have another XC host on GMBN!
Hello from New Zealand, love GMBN, what a great bunch of Presenters and all the interesting videos you guys come up with.
I've done SDW twice with the British Heart Foundation - best time just under 14 hours. It's tough as Hell, but an utterly brilliant ride!
Having done this earlier the year and as a local, I still can’t get over Ian Leitch’s double record - the times are staggering! Seems unbeatable!
Respected guys, I grew up riding the south downs and there ain't any easy bits. More videos like this please.

Wow great film and the guy wit the FKT must be a machine 💪
Great edit - really enjoyed it.

That bit up to Firle Beacon is brutal, great video lads
Awesome effort guys. I think there’s a perception that we don’t have anything tough down here in the South, but let the nay sayers try this!
Great content! We need to see more things like this! Congrats!

more of this type of video please :)

Haven’t watched it yet but can tell this is gonna be a banger!
We want to see Rich beat the time by himself. Time for another endurance video!
Ha ha keep your eye’s peeled 😉
GCN's turn now!
Loved it...great effort, all!
If you want the Fastest Known Time,
make sure you chose the 'better' weather and surface conditions,
makes a huge difference as many would know.
YESS BOYS! I like this kind of video! More challenges more fun!! Also, it's inspired me to ride more!
...DOOM music VIBES kicking in around 13mins for Neil 😂
Was hoping we'd see Neil in some Lycra. Great effort! I know I couldn't do it.
Tremendous efforts all around, thanks guys! That's got to be a crushing feeling for Neil to see the average dropping after they handed him off the Garmin.

Brilliant bringing Tom in to the shed with you at the end! Thanks again guys.
I reckon the GCN crew with Simon and Hank would've beaten that time. Time for another battle perhaps?
What an epic route 👊🏻
Team work makes the dream work 🤘
Oh how many gates was there really 😂
Cracking effort lads
Definitely more challenges 😂
You guys did very well!! 🤟
first, i love you guys so much, great content, keep up the great work
I did the SDW on a specialized status….. toughest day on a bike ever! 😂😂😂
Neil's MTB fashion probably cost him 20 watts in that headwind.
How about trying a group FKT for the 100 mile White Rim in Canyonlands NP in Utah, USA?
How about trying the desert dash in Namibia? Nearly 400km in 24hrs.
Bar ends look uncool but would have been useful I think. Good video.
You could do the same vs GCN's team using gravel bikes
Did you guys go on a shortcut at the start on the road to avoid Boomtown?
What about a gcn vs gmbn challenge? Same fkt, gravel bikes vs xc bikes?
Hi Guys what tyres did you use and did you het any punctures/flint cuts?
I know where all of Rich’s hair went. Isaac stole it.
7hrs 42 Elapsed time for me yesterday on a gravel bike
I just done this with my dog and towing a trailer 😅 4 days
AGAIN! AGAIN! AGAIN! 😎💯
cheers
Next time four people with blake 😂😂
Seems a bit mean to put, by his own admission, the 'weakest link' on what has to be the hardest third of the route 🤔
GMBN comes to my yard. The bit in the middle anyway. Should have roped Blake in & stopped off at Steyning for some jumpy action. Take your mind off the realisation it's all winch & plummet round here, not for fat downhillers!
This is hard
I did this and the first day took us 3h:23 mins 25.6 miles it was challenging
Let’s see if GCN can beat this on gravel bikes
I love going past roadies on my non electric enduro bike! 😅
Get the Vegan Cyclist over from the States - let him have a go -serious hardcore.

Would be faster on a hardtail I swear
Good effort but the rider order should have been reversed.
If you're openly cheating, why not let Neil use an emtb?
@efswheels for the win🏆
