Ferrari's F1 team had been through a rough couple of years by the late 80s. It was down to the F187 Formula 1 car to turn that around.

Tru the F1 2013 historic mode....... Its just something else I mean the handling obviously isn't even there but just the sound....

This is incredible, and yes, it would be glorious if you guys posted more vintage F1 please. The 1980's were truly some of the greatest times in motorsport. In my opinion, even with the modern rule changes in F1, nothing rivals the sound of those old engines. There was just more emotion and guts back in the day.

Yeah, I cringed at that. Michele was always the "brides maid, never the bride" in F1. I'm a huge Gerhard Berger fan, but Michele deserved better. Was really sad to learn he'd died a few years back.

Isnt it funny how exhaust going in difusor just recently made it into supercars?! Also, this Formula looks like it was still one of ones you could build in your normal garage without clean room, without using magnesium, titanium, unobtanioum etc.

When you compare it to the rest of the cars of the eighties it really is astounding what was done to these machines. It truly makes me wonder though, if the romance of the Era would be as easy to translate in modern F1?

Ferrari have made the largest impact on f1 but team lotus and brabham made the largest impact on f1 design, ferrari having an 8 year advantage over lotus, lotuus still beat them to the fifty race victory mark.
Colin Chapman was the genius behind his team. Enzo ferrari was a intelligent man who guided his team.

listening to lamborghini chief tester manual gearboxes are too difficult with cars spitting 400+ bhp and still according to him is even exhausting when 600+ bhp. they eliminated manuals 'cuz is dangerous with this kind of power.
But we don't give a sheep and gimme dat manual now :-)

filippo carli Well they had manuals during the 80's when most cars had well over 1000hp in quali settings, Jenson Button said recently that the modern cars are too easy and need to made more challenging.

+Daniel May It would be lovely, but F1 is technologically supposed to be always moving forwards. Manuals for driver entertainment but paddles for 10/10ths competitive racing. I love the old cars, like this F187 and its great to see and hear them on historical track days (I go as often as I can). But old cars are best left to reruns and historical events. I want to see the best tech devised on anything this side of the 21st Century.
