You could say that there is drone footage out there but i have not seen it and read many groups on the war on telegram everyday and havnt seen any video yet linking to the supposed kill. Either way if it is indeed confirmed, its likely not a within range kill i.e. its not sighted in the tanks sights and fired on like that challenger kill which on its own is more impressive in my opinon, having a drone that sees your misses allowing you to adjust isnt the same as not seeing were you land and having to adjust.

      Challangers are actually considered to be one of the least successful tank series in modern generation (Comparing to T-72/80/90, Leopard 2, and Abrams). First of all they have troubles with their powerplant which makes them the slowest of all. Recently that was addressed by british and they introduced new upgrade that overhauls the propulsion systems and gives it a new transmission (I believe it is german btw), also they have a huge hole in the armor of the front lower plate. During operations in Middle East there were even photos of challangers with reactive armor on those plates to protect against portable anti-tank weapons. Third issue is that british stick with rifled canon that is a big issue because it requires different ammunition than smoothbore Rh-120 family guns (which are NATO standard) and also reduced speed is reducing its shells performance (in energy formula E=mc^2 acceleration). What makes it a good tank, is the good front turret armor and modifications that add the active protection.

    That training makes sense. See how the Challenger2 behaves on different terrain. It is also prudent to establish a baseline of tactical maneuver skills because decision making has to be automatic due to the speed of mechanized warfare.
    This tank’s firing precision is based on a ballistic computer that gives the main gun a ballistic solution based on various inputs and the gunner’s actions. It is incumbent for the gunner to prepare the tank for precision firing.
    Of course maintenance is a key to succesful tanking. The Ukrainian trainee alluded to the Challenger2 being a much better ride. This is a result of a much better suspension than a T72’s suspension. A good suspension means the tank can be driven faster because the crew is not thrown around in the tank. The Ukrainians have a lot to learn in a short period of time, but they are motivated!

    My dad was born is USSR, Russia and wanted to become a tank-operator. He studied in a military academy, spent lots of time around and inside the tanks.
    He looked at what Ukraine is getting, watched a few videos, and then said: "the russians are fu**ed". Now this is coming from an ex-KGB officer that spent years in those tanks and really loves russia because it's his homeland (ex-KGB because he eventually shifted his role in the military).

    The fact that they are training new crews means that they are expanding their forces and/or replacing losses, which is what I would expect to hear for a conflict of this type. While it an experienced tank crew would make better use of these tanks than a fresh crew, it is far more efficient to to train spare crewmen and new guys on these tanks as opposed to pulling out crews from the older tanks and needing to train personnel both on the existing tanks and the new ones.

    • @MPdude237
      @MPdude237 Рік тому

      @@TheJimyyy I don’t doubt it. However, it only makes sense to train guys if you have the means to equip them. While training reserve crewmen is helpful since it allows you to rotate personnel and replace casualties, past a certain point it doesn’t make sense to train more tankers. A tanker without a tank, or pilot without a plane is not very useful once you have sufficient reserves, so once reserves were filled, they likely focused more of their mobilization efforts towards other areas with higher demand. Not saying they stopped training completely since attrition is a thing and you need to replace injured or dead crewmen reserve or active, or to crew that random T-72B3 Dimitri found, but they likely toned down crewmen training efforts after the initial waves of Warsaw Pact tanks and captured Russian tanks had come in. Now that 50+ new tanks are coming in, they likely don’t have a sufficiently large roster to crew both the existing tank fleet and the new tanks, which is why the trainer said that most of them are fresh guys.

    • @MPdude237
      @MPdude237 Рік тому +2

      @@warbrain1053 That is true, since these guys already know the fundamentals of tanks and need only how to operate their equipment, even a Sherman or T-34 tanker would get up to speed quicker than a newbie. They are likely training reserve tankers, former crewmen who are returning to uniform, or crews who don’t have tanks due to losses, damage and repairs, or major maintenance. However, given the fact that they are training new crews would indicate that the current roster of crewmen is insufficient to fill the new tanks from the west. Ukraine needs as many operational tanks as it can get and pulling a crew out of an active T-72 would result in an empty T-72 and therefore a non-operational tank if there isn’t trained personnel to replace them. While experienced tankers will get through training quicker, someone still needs to crew the now vacant T-72 or T-64, so if a experienced tanker takes 5 weeks to retrain, and a newbie takes 8 to train for example, that would mean that there are 5 weeks you have a vacant tank while you train a replacement crew, should you decide to retrain an active crew on a Western tank. Of course I am making up these numbers since I don’t know how long it actually takes and it can vary (complexity of platform, number of vehicles and trainers available relative to trainees, what training aids and simulators are available and in what numbers, the amount of training received, etc), but I am using them to illustrate my point. While an experienced crew is better in a Leo 2A6 or M1A1 instead of a T-64BV or T-72M1, they are not so much better as to leave functional tanks vacant for 5 weeks or so. After all, at the end of the 8 weeks (or however long it takes) you have two trained crews and with intense fighting in and around Bakhmut and needing to defend a large border against further Russian offensives, pulling crews out of operational tanks would do more harm than good, for now atleast. Once Ukraine has more tanks than it needs, it can retrain existing crews without depriving forces of their armor.

Their infantry already know how to use AT weapons and are probably the most skilled anti-tank fighting force in the world right now. One of the most enduring paradoxes of human history is that in order to achieve peace, one must be ready for war. War is a destructive and costly phenomenon that nobody desires, yet it often seems inevitable when conflicts arise between nations or groups with different interests and values. Peace, on the other hand, is a state of harmony and cooperation that everyone aspires to, but it can take different forms depending on the perspective and goals of the parties involved. For some, peace means coexistence, where different entities respect each other's sovereignty and rights and seek to resolve their disputes through dialogue and compromise. For others, peace means domination, where one entity imposes its will and ideology on another through force or deception and claims to have brought stability and order. An example of this latter type of peace is the annexation of Crimea by Russia in 2014, which violated international law and sparked a geopolitical crisis. Therefore, those who value peace as coexistence must always be vigilant and prepared to defend themselves against those who seek peace as domination. As the Roman writer Vegetius famously said: "If you want peace, prepare for war."

Imagine if instead of the famous Latin adage "Si vis pacem, para bellum" (If you want peace, prepare for war), the world had adopted another motto: "If you want peace, prepare for diplomacy." How would that change the course of history? How would that affect the current conflicts and crises? How would that shape our future prospects and challenges? I am not here to debate about whether this is possible or not because, again, I said "imagine." I am here to ask you to open your minds and hearts to a new vision of peace that is based on dialogue, cooperation and mutual respect.
