I didn't have chips one day and cut up corn tortillas. Fried them in vegetable oil on the stove top and added garlic salt after they turned golden brown . I love adding any left over meat boneless skinless chicken, carne asada, and carnitas 💚💚.

I use Serrano and Habanero chilies, too, but don't remove the seeds. I enjoy it very spicy! I also add pickled red onions to the ingredients you listed, although I don't add any pepper or garlic salt, just conventional salt(to taste). I would think the garlic salt leaves an aftertaste...hmmm? Maybe I'll try adding garlic salt out of curiosity.
I’ve made them without the drying before and they don’t come out as crisp so drying them first definitely eliminates that and makes them crispy so it’s a really vital step in making them. Hope this helps!

Well, we don't add onion, cilantro, and pepper. I cut the avocados and added garlic salt and mash in a bowl with a spoon.Then I add some jalapeño salsa I blended with,onion,garlic salt and tomato sauce and mix it. We don't roast the jalapeños and I leave the seeds or roast the tomatoes. Sometimes, I add tomatoes and sour cream when I make a lot. My grandma showed us that way. Hope you try it.😊

Why is it necessary to dry chips out in oven first before frying?
I’ve made them without the drying before and they don’t come out as crisp so drying them first definitely eliminates that and makes them crispy so it’s a really vital step in making them. Hope this helps!
