He does it almost in every song in this album :D Me and my friend kinda took that sound and we use it insted of Hi when we meet >.> Yes, people are always lookin' at us like we must be retarded as fuck.
my parents just walked in and asked me how i can stand listening to this...my question to them how can they stand NOT listening to this..? Living your whole life never enjoying the pure gold that is omnm its unheard of.
To everyone wondering if he has a sore throat he actually doesn't exactly use his throat to scream. He uses his diaphragm just like most singers. And he warms up. (:
Actually Austin did a lot of vocal fry. He pushes from his diaphragm but there is slight vocal filter, so incorrect to say he doesn't use his throat. The only way you can scream and not use your throat pretty much at all is to false chord, and Austin doesn't do those from what I've heard
what a stupid BS, you ALWAYS use or false cords or vocal cords to produce vocals, and both these things are in the throat... You can NOT produce any sound with your diafragm, it only pushes the air out of your lungs, but this air flow then MUST be modulated by something in the throat (false cords and vocal cords in case of fry screams, and false cords and arytenoids in case of so called "false cord screams")
I was listening to this and facetiming my friend who likes pop music and she says "i wonder how much water they drink after this. Like, doesnt that hurt?"
It is pretty strenuous. Even the best screamers have to limit what they do on stage at concerts or train vocally. It's fucking gorgeous when you find a good live screamer.
i absolutely love this song! i dont see how anyone could not like the song or Austin's vocals. not to sound cheesy, but its so clear that he pours his heart and soul into every lyric he writes and everything he screams
My feelings about Austin Carlile are different than they used to be but my feelings about this music haven't changed at all I still wanna windmill hard to this lmao
Whenever someone plays their music really loud in public I immediately go straight to this song and blast it on full power to piss everyone off. It is sheer bliss watching the curls and visible disgust in their creased faces.
Bro, same. My BMW has loud ass speakers and honestly could care less. Miss when this sound was popular. The genre definitely died, but hey, I still bump the songs that defined my upbringing.
the reissue songs are just glorious, feel like these 3 songs have more emotional severity and strength than all of restoring force, something about the rage in this and the sorrow you can feel in the storm that makes these songs feel magical. its like they were in the studio the day after tragedy and the rawness is stuck in the recording forever. nothing against their new stuff but for me this and the flood will be their pinnacle and even if they took this musical direction instead I'm not sure they could top the reissue songs
I love shay like mad and the flood/self titled but these reissue songs have so much emotion and power in them, best metalcore songs ever on the best metalcore album imo
Jake De Santiago I suppose it does if you go at it for long amounts of time, I mean even just normal singing makes your throat hurt after a while especially when it's loud.
i liked the way Alex Terrible explained it saying Extreme vocals is like bodybuilding they are muscles afterall you train them and they become stronger but push it too hard and they tear.
Angel Catalan Their new songs are still just as good, people just say they're "not as good" because Shay left the band and Aaron is playing bass and singing in the new songs now. I love all of their albums and members just the same, no matter what. That's what makes a person a true fan, if they love the band members unconditionally and like their albums. That what makes me a true loving, dedicated fan.
Warriorscatbooksfan1 That's what makes them a sheep. A true fan can still detect when something is good or not. There newer stuff isn't at all like there older stuff. And that's fine. But saying you're not a true fan just because you don't love everything that that a band puts out is not true. People don't say it's not as good because Shay left. He wasn't even in the band when this song came out. They don't like it cause it's not as heavy, it's more radio friendly, and it's just kinda boring. I liked restoring force, but just because people don't like everything someone puts out doesn't make them "not a true fan". It makes them someone with a brain.
Only metalcore band I like. Compared to the other shit, OM&M's lyrics and musical composition both seem better. As well as Austin Carlile's screams not sounding exactly the fucking same as every other metalcore band. Well done OM&M.
the beginning riff to the song (with the name of the song included) makes me imagine like a cartoon-almost like a Disney one- flood with deep muddy chaotic water for some reason.
Honestly can’t believe I’m only just starting to listen to these guys now! I’ve heard them around for the last year or so, it’s only now after reading their Rock Sound interview that I’ve looked them up. Seriously Seriously In Love.
I did check online and there was nothing said about JD featuring on any of their tracks from the flood - but I refuse to believe that voice isn't his!!!
best kind of music to bake cookies to
Baking like a badass.
*bakes cookies aggressively*
THESE COOKIES NEED A BAKING! REMOVING ALL IT'S FLITH!
Best kind of music to ride a submarine to
I love doing that lmao
Anyone else think that sonar shit is awesome?
The coolest fucking part
Nicole Werstler You know what's up.
👌
Fucking littttt
Yes! 😂😭 it’s my fucking fave.
Love the sound he makes as if he is about to throw up.
+Joshua mejia BLEGH
YESSSS BLEEEEGGHHHHH
OMG YAAAAAS
He does it almost in every song in this album :D
Me and my friend kinda took that sound and we use it insted of Hi when we meet >.>
Yes, people are always lookin' at us like we must be retarded as fuck.
He also does it at the beginning of Bones Exposed (which I can scream)
The Flood was their best work by far.
Still
I would argue echo comes close but agreed this was an incredible song in an incredible album
8 year old comment lol but i really liked restoring force as well.
@@Loek-29agreed. These are the top 2 albums imo
This and their self titled
my parents just walked in and asked me how i can stand listening to this...my question to them how can they stand NOT listening to this..? Living your whole life never enjoying the pure gold that is omnm its unheard of.
This comment made my day
Exactlyyyy
That sonar sounding thing at 1:37 gives me chills everytime
All these years later and still I get them lol
@@chillychilipepper3606same lol
1:37 It's these parts of songs that makes them so great.
yesss
\m/
Ah yes, that breakdown is heavy af bro
got me trippin
1:37 - *stops everything im doing*
1:43 - *intense headbang*
I'm exactly the same
2:40
To everyone wondering if he has a sore throat he actually doesn't exactly use his throat to scream. He uses his diaphragm just like most singers. And he warms up. (:
yea I already knew that as a screamer my self

Austin. From crab core to submarine core
LOL
THIS SONG IS JUST PURE BADASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Does anyone else think an orchestral cover of this song would be amazing?
SOMEBODY CALL JINXX AND MAKE THIS HAPPEN
+Jinxx Purdy omg 😂
no.
I always get goosebumps listening to the breakdown
I was listening to this and facetiming my friend who likes pop music and she says "i wonder how much water they drink after this. Like, doesnt that hurt?"
It is pretty strenuous. Even the best screamers have to limit what they do on stage at concerts or train vocally. It's fucking gorgeous when you find a good live screamer.
Not if done correctly, it's from the diaphragm not the throat
Screaming even when done everything correctly drys out your throat quickly, most vocalists drink lots of water between songs and set breaks
i absolutely love this song! i dont see how anyone could not like the song or Austin's vocals. not to sound cheesy, but its so clear that he pours his heart and soul into every lyric he writes and everything he screams
The song was literally 3 seconds in and I already had chills rushing down my spine.
This band just gives me the freakin goosebumps every single time I hear one of their songs!
BLEEEEEEGH!!!
Every metal song needs at least 1 per album
I listened to this during my emo days but now that I look back at i slick still enjoy this lowkey lmao
Omg same
dude me too, like a throw back lol
Got the urge to bump some of mice and men. Still bumps and I hope Austin gets better
@@uhoh7141 I highkey still enjoy this
Does anyone know the name of the submarine that did the sonar solo? Does he ever tour with them cause I've never seen him before?
It's actually Thomas the tank engines sister, Sally the submarine
+Joshua Panyik (PanyikAttack420) wtf really? I didn't know she broke into the music industry kudos to her
She needs to make a solo album. She's amazing
Mikah Fikes I think it was the one Mr. Krabs served on, the S.S. Diarrhea
I.... I think this is my favorite song ever... I LOVE IT SO GOD DAMN MUCH
Austin's voice is so powerful. he's so much more than beyond incredible.
Still one of my favorite albums.
I love listening to this song when I'm trying to sleep :3
Same lol
Epic battle dreams!
when this song played at warped tour the moshpit was fucking insane it was so awesome
i was in it :D
0:12 the best part. i never realized it until now. i died laughing. it just reminds me or how much i hate broccoli
*of . _ .
...... i like broccoli..... .-. ... "x3

Still here 9 years later 🤘🏻
Omg i FREAKING LOVE this song
sonar breakdown still goes hard in 2022
Seen them last night and they played this, definitely the best night of my life
Could he actually scream that well still??
Tyler Peters yeah it sounded pretty much the same
This song needs a mv!
I picture alot of water in the mv..
yes acctually all of this band songs have a mv..
That intro is too sick, pumps you the hell up.
1:26 sounds exactly like the singer from korn
1:37 is when i went fucking insane.
cheers \m/\m/
RIGHT!
Ikr its fucking awesome
im in class right now and everyone is looking at me jamming to this...its funny
TWEEK TWEEK yes! go HAM!!
Lol my friend showed this to me a couple years ago and I was scared, and here I am now and it's my favorite song on the album. 😂😂
I like their new sound but I love this sound way more
the reissue songs are just glorious, feel like these 3 songs have more emotional severity and strength than all of restoring force, something about the rage in this and the sorrow you can feel in the storm that makes these songs feel magical. its like they were in the studio the day after tragedy and the rawness is stuck in the recording forever. nothing against their new stuff but for me this and the flood will be their pinnacle and even if they took this musical direction instead I'm not sure they could top the reissue songs

I love the growl at the beginning!
I LOVE YOU AUSTIN!
no he's mine 👊
uh no i dont think so
twyla crowchief Jasmine Ramos sod the both of you, he's mine. XD
mine.... XD
2:38 is my favorite part about this song
1:29 is when I started breaking shit
Anyone else blare this music as loud as possible with the windows rolled down in their car? Best feeling ever 🤘🤘🤘🤘
Screaming hurts at first but you get used to it and it feels like singing
It's not supposed to hurt at all buddy. You're doing something wrong.
Jake De Santiago I suppose it does if you go at it for long amounts of time, I mean even just normal singing makes your throat hurt after a while especially when it's loud.
It might feel uncomfortable at first but not to the point it hurts. If you're serious about it take vocal lessons.
A bit late but yeah it doesn't really hurt as much as it feels uncomfortable. Unless you overdo it when you start out.
i liked the way Alex Terrible explained it saying Extreme vocals is like bodybuilding
they are muscles afterall you train them and they become stronger but push it too hard and they tear.
this song is legend of ofmice&men songs
Double kick bass drum tho, holy shit 🙀😻
I already know how amazing this band is yet I need a constant reminder
i noticed the best of mice & men songs are the ones without singing
gtfo
***** best comeback ever XD I love that
***** what did you mean by that. you don't like the screaming or what?
AngryStutterer i was saying i like songs where theres only screaming
***** ooooooooooo, see, I think of the screaming as singing so I thought you were the type of person that comes to these videos to hate, sorry man
Damn years and years later here we are.
Dat sonar ping doe.
when austin goes "yeckk" in the beginning is amazing!
wish their new stuff still sounded like this oh well
Angel Catalan Their new songs are still just as good, people just say they're "not as good" because Shay left the band and Aaron is playing bass and singing in the new songs now. Saw these guys live. Including this song. One of the sickest performances ever.
when you realize of mice and men could djent
The whole of this song... IT IS THE GREATEST THING EVER!!
i miss this om&m
I give so many props to you for that statement. You're so right.
Any metal song with a sonar in it is fucking awesome! this being a great example and Slipknot spit it out being another!
The sonar thingy was amazing haha love this song ^^
It's at 1:37 when I start losing my self...
The beginning of this song... IT IS THE GREATEST THING EVER!!
Oh my gosh the beginning
that double kick bass drum tho
it's fucking gnarly
Hearing this song live changed my life
Only metalcore band I like. Compared to the other shit, OM&M's lyrics and musical composition both seem better. As well as Austin Carlile's screams not sounding exactly the fucking same as every other metalcore band. Well done OM&M.
Ever hear of little band called August Burns Red?
I've heard of them, yes.
^ every bit as good as omam's old stuff but actually still good.
Lance Driscoll
I will check into it.
The sonar sound still goes so unbelievably hard
Austin carlile has more heart than 90 percent of vocalists and he's always great live fuck the h8rz
the beginning riff to the song (with the name of the song included) makes me imagine like a cartoon-almost like a Disney one- flood with deep muddy chaotic water for some reason.
This is badass. I like 0:12.
I'd forgotten just HOW good this album is.
AND NOW WE DROWN THE WORLD
The way he said yeah gives me chills
dont listen to this in the gym you'll throw 35kg weights at the mirror and watch it all smash to pieces as your scream the lyrics of 2:42

Of Mice & Men Were SICKKKK at warped tour.. especially the wall of death..

This and you make me sick best of mice and men songs in my opinion
Best Guitar Riff I have heard in a while....
Perfection
Oh dear lord, that opening riff is beautiful in the most brutal of ways.
THAT LITTLE SNARL THING IN THE BEGINNING UNF
I'm so in love with this band!
I wish they did more songs like this
I absolutely love the new, heavier approach. The submarine section is one of the best metal parts I've heard in a while. Great job, keep it up oMaM!
Total badass
"You're growing in the flood" I love that part.
listen at double speed, OMG!!
+NeonWolffang i just saw this and thats one of the best decisions i've ever made.. ITS SO BEAUTIFUL
no lies one of the best post-hardcore bands ever
Cold world sucks, back to the flood
Agreed
They HAD to change their sound. I won't explain everything, but it's easy enough to research.
RahmiThing how about no
Tyler Peters I was speaking to the original commenter
I know he's sick, it still sucks. Good dude, shit new album
Am I the only one that absolutely loves it when Austin makes the sound at 0:12?
BFG Division
1:38 gives me chills everytime I hear it, and then when he starts to scream over it :o
is he saying Coldplay?
Hoping to show the world
"Hoping" ;)
LMAO COLDPLAY! COLDPLAY! COLDPLAY TO DROWN THE WORLD!
+tammy n. Dead XD
The lick in the beginning is amazing

Nope. I miss Austin. Best to his health
