Also, I am unable to offer you a job . If you’re in the process of applying for a visa or job in the uk, kindly do your own research and seek professional assistance as necessary
I am so grateful you are putting videos like this out there. Honestly m excited to see where you are in the next 2 years. You are soaring girl👏🏾
I just came across your videos today in South Africa, Today i started the process of applying for teaching jobs in the UK. than you so much to Boma for sharing, behaviour management will be a tough one being from this part of the world. big up sis.
Every profession has got its own challenges. Kudos to teachers.
What people have to endure for greener pastures 😢😢
Such an eye opening Nanelle..You do all
This is such a good video. I am also an African teacher who worked in the UK for a few years before moving on to Teacher at British schools outside the UK. I am also documenting my international school career. Well done Boma, you really touched on a lot of crucial points on being a UK teacher. 🎉
Was going talk about managing challenging behaviour as a teacher as this is major in the uk
Weldone again
Thanks Nanelle for inviting this lady. I will however advice you do an interview for a BLACK secondary school teachers as I believe the experience is dramatically different. I do supply in the UK by the way.
Thank you so much for inviting Boma, I always love your videos so educative and encouraging. @ Boma, thank you for sharing your experiences. I was a teacher in Nigeria with 4 years experience. I am in the Uk now pursuing a career in healthcare but I still have it in mind to go back to teaching. I wish to get used to the environment and the people properly before going back into teaching...thanks❤❤❤
The time is now. Start as a teaching assistant
Thank you for this Nanelle ❤
You're so welcome!
Thanks so so much Nanelle for bringing Boma to enlighten us, I enjoyed listening to the experience of an African trained UK teacher, it gave me hope on my journey 👊🏾 currently doing the one year training and documenting it too. The rules have changed now and the exams are no longer there and the NQT induction year is for 2 years now. Thanks Nanelle for another beautiful episode.
Thank you 🙏🏽
Hello!!! I looked for your page before my interview for my pgce interview even though I follow you here. Maybe it was tension that didn’t let me see you😂😂. Anyways I made it through the interview and I currently hold an offer, but I have small issue. The Satisfactory Health and Disclosure and Barring service checks are required. How do I get this? Is it a police report and the medical checks, did you use the tuberculosis test? Please answer me. I look forward to hearing from you sis. God bless you
@@phellyciaifedi5251 congratulations 🎉. You would need to get a police report from your country but the DBS would be when you come in. The tuberculosis is for your visa application process
@@phellyciaifedi5251 the medical checks would be a form sent to you when you start your registration with your school
@@winnyscorner thanks so much. So I will only have to submit the police report for now. Is it when they have offered me an unconditional offer before I pay the deposit? Or I will pay the deposit before the unconditional offer
thank you Boma , God bless you
In South Africa corporal punishment is not allowed in schools. In high schools kids get detention, well the high school I went to gave detention for bad behaviour.
My son is in primary school and in his school they do not give the little kids detention but give them stars for good behaviour and everyday they are in zones (green, orange and red) based on behaviour. If a child is in the red zone their parents get called into the school. Not too sure about type of punishment for the older grades.
Gr1-Gr2 I know kids are taught all their subjects by their class teacher and believe they start having different classes (taught different subjects) with different teachers at a later stage roughly between Gr3 or 4 up to Gr12.
Kids however only start school from age 6 (preschool) and age 7 (primary school). Was lovely to draw similarities and differences in this video. Thank you so much for valuable content ❤
Thank you Boma❤
God bless you for this, I commented on another UA-cam channel saying teaching in the UK is not as easy as people think especially for Africans and they almost crucified me. Thank you for bringing someone to say it as it is. I'm currently a teaching assistant in the UK after over 10yrs of teaching experience with TRCN qualification from Nigeria.
I can as well tell everyone back home that I'm a teacher here but don't. Let's tell it as it is instead of giving false hope
Glad to see someone with similar experience. It can really be demoralising at times however, it’s all part of the process. I am documenting my TA experience on my social media. I don’t tell people it’s hard or easy but when you read in between the lines you will understand it😂. Nice meeting you 🎉
For secondary schools in Uk there is detention, suspension, they spend their breaks at the disciplinary section which they don't like at all.
I would love to know more about high school. I am a biology and chemistry teacher. From Kenya
Hey shauline , can we link up , if unaeza penda kufunza UK@@shaulinewangari3532
same her did you get the help@@shaulinewangari3532
This is quite informative!
I am currently a supply Maths Teacher in the UK and I must say the students behaviours are not quite encouraging, most times you will be teaching and only very few will be participating. The disciplinary measures are also not helping the matters.
In all, teaching in the UK secondary schools is so challenging due to behaviours.
Wow 😯
Thanks for your contribution, did you have any teaching experience in Nigeria before moving to the U.K.?
@@amabelsanubi3415 Sure, I do.
In the public or private sector? I'm curious because the behavior you complained about is becoming a norm here in Nigeria, especially in the public sector because of the decline in disciplinary measures. How would you rate your overall experience, if you don't mind sharing, both at home and abroad, I mean on this particular issue?
Thanks for your contribution , did you migrate as a teacher from Nigeria ? and for the behaviour ? its tough
Oh my GOD ,…. She got my attention when she mentioned UNN, I did music and finished 2015…….wow super lioness, I need to connect asap with her.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Obviously, at the primary level, you teach every subject in Nigeria also. I think I would also love to hear from a Nigerian teacher who migrated to the UK
exactly , someone that migrated
My love...always serving the juice😋🤩
The behavior management is quiet tough coming as a teacher from Africa. Your students can go as far as throwing papers at you, the older ones, they won't write, talk back at you. Teachers coming from Africa needs to be really patient.
Wow
Extremely patient 😅😢
i had similar challenge
The guest said map reading is not done in Africa, I beg to disagree because the schools I went to in both Zambia and Zimbabwe we studied maps there.
What about maps did you read.
The English and Maths Test is no longer required for PGCE Training. The NQT is now for two years and is called Early Career Teacher known as ECT.
Well it is important..you get to do it when you are in training and it has a cut off mark...you are allowed several attempts till you meet up with the cut off mark. There is also physics, chemistry and biology
I am currently training for my pgce qts
Do you get low pay during the ECT?
Just like everything coming from a developing country one has to get prior insights of cultural challenges, most developing countries also have issues of attendance truancy but Still traditional by nature unlike western world
My mentor nailed it once again. Very very informative. Nanelle, please kindly ask for me, if you are overseas teacher and planning to teach in Uk, which level would she recommend you start? I’m from Ghana and teach in the senior high level.
Thanks dear . For year she says primary … year 1 to 3
I watch this video while preparing to relocate to teach in the uk, I've berm here teacher 2 years and sharing my experiences which has inspire persons to reach out to me for information and guidance. 🎉❤
Good luck - you are going to need it!
@@honeydate My experience has been positive so far, not because of luck but because of His grace.
Am a secondary school teacher (Govt Sch) in Nigeria, how do I apply
Am a teacher in Nigeria... Pls how do i apply to get sponsorship
I’m going to follow Boma for Keto diet💃🏻😂😂
It is so hard for Jamaican primary teachers to get a job in the UK because we are not eligible to do QTS 🙈
How can I get the site
Hi Nanelle, please can my nurse boyfriend invite me to the uk for us to marry??
It's interesting to learn how different the curriculums are across Africa. In my country we do map reading from primary, we study UK history and Geography too and a lot other countries. Damn I was even taught the UK politics in primary, as to why I don't know, maybe because they are our colonizers. I saw the UK citizenship test questions and a grade 7 pupil in my country can pass that test. Also, corporal punishment was banned, though I disagree with that one. The caning was necessary.
Wow . Which country are you from?
@@NanelleGriselda Swaziland in Southern Africa, although the curriculum I studied was called BoLeSwa, it was the same in Botswana, Lesotho and Swaziland. I even learned about other African countries. I know the African icons like Kwame Nkrumah, Patrice Lumumba, etc, because in Grade 6 we studied African countries and their history.
I’m proudly Swazi 🇸🇿
@@phumlilekhumalo6440 yes mkhaya, we learned Atlas in primary school. Glad to see you here.
Very interesting curriculum

Hii after refused UK visa application can I use the same COS for reapply is this still valid
Yes if the Cos is still valid
@@NanelleGriseldaI have a COS but there is two mistakes i already sent a mail to the employer couple of day ago and still waiting for reply from from the employer. what i do
Hello
To me as a South African, it looks like the education system in UK and the behaviour of the children is exactly as in South Africa. In South Africa, it is a serious crime to use corporal punishment, you can go to jail and lose your certificate.
As a South African, looks like being a teacher in UK is like redundancy. I really don't like SA education especially in public schools. Children are uncontrollable and teachers have nothing to do but instead the Department of Education blames teachers for everything. When a child stabs another child at school, know that that school is in hot water, let alone if the instance took place during teaching and learning period, as a teacher for that particular lesson you should resign the same day.
Kindly give us update about Tier 2 sponsorship jobs right now???
Yeah but are foreign teacher's going to want to stay teaching in England once they experience how horrible it is.
Good point..
What's Boma's UA-cam channel please?
