I teach KS4 and KS5 an option subject on a full-time basis in an academy based in Lincolnshire UK . I've been doing this for 13 years. School starts at 8.30 am but I arrive an hour earlier just to get my planning sorted and school finishes at 3.35pm.
This also depends on if you have arranged some interventions to catch up for study. You get about 30 students with mixed abilities, so you'll have your hands full in the hour of your lessons.
There are 5 subjects for an hour, 1 hour break and an additional 20-minute break, which makes up your timetable.
Accents doesn't bother me at all. I've been in the UK since finishing my secondary school in Nigeria.

People especially Africans are just too fixated about UK, US and Canada which is so wrong. Trust me, you can make in China, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Kazakhstan, Cambodia or Macau more than double of what a teacher makes in the UK per month. There are a lot of British teachers in Asia , some of them are my colleagues at work here in Far East Asia and they usually tell me that they can never teach in the UK. Don’t concentrate on UK . It is next to impossible to get into those lovely Grammar Schools and the pay scale in colleges is much lower than in mainstream schools. The behaviour of pupils in many of these state schools is horrendous - these kids have absolutely no respect for teachers, and it is usually these schools that are desperate to recruit teachers from abroad - the British teachers won't go anywhere near them. Speaking from personal experience.

    Hi... Thanks for this video.
I have a Nigeria Certificate Examination (N.C.E) in Chemistry/Integrated Science. I'm currently studying Chemistry Education in a University in Nigeria. Am I qualified to work as a teacher in the U.K?
If no, is there anything I can do to get qualified?

I'm very new to this family. In fact, this is my first stop on this channel. I have subscribed anyway.
My very simple question is what is the opportunity for English teachers since UK is English speaking and mother land of English. Do they really need English and Literature teachers?

English language may be added later in the year. In the interim, be familiar with the books that are used for secondary schools by googling GCSE English Literature books and poetry.
