Oh my god it is so hard to wait for Pt. 3. This Burma build is perfect for my Seraphon army. The only different thing I'm going to do is add some colourful, vibrant plants to break up the green and give it a more fantasy look.
Great work Mel! I'm not sure there's no place for simply giving us a vlog for the BBB. They're a nice change of pace, still with some educational/inspiring stuff. Keep up the great work, boss!
At 16:09 the bases mounted on the plasticard look like little chocolate cookies, lol! Glad to see you back on the project, I can't wait until it's done!
Mel, that is some awesome looking terrain, really like the statue thingie, the board is going to look great, and I keep passing by the plastic plants in the dollar store, not anymore.
Hi Mel just found your channel great many thanks, have learnt a great deal in a couple of days. You are probably aware but hot melt glue is great for fasishing tree roots. Fix as normal, when dry, pipe the glue from the trunk to the base, one cleaned and painted they look good. Ian
I am definitely not a jungle boy myself, but I must say this looks really really cool... Very interesting and truly inspiring, I looking forward to the next update ... So maybe I am a jungle boy... after all ;-)) Many Thanks Mel for showing and keep up the good work.
I really liked this video. So much more relaxed and... you. I understand the reasons for the Lets Make rush thru, but these kinds of videos are much funner to watch. One thing the audience needs to know to understand the terrain... what is the movement rate of infantry in B.A.? That will determine the spacing of the cover. Looks wonderful Mel!
Fantastic looking so far Mel.I do have a suggestion I'm not sure if the Burmese used them or not but adding some Punji Pits might be pretty neat to add as a way to block movement but not Line of Sight. Or maybe add a few huts to add some flavor. Just a thought
Not sure how I feel about nice smelling terrain. Hm. Too used to the the semi-intoxicating whiff of strong solvents and adhesives, maybe? I LIKE, the herb mix. Looks cool. Maybe if I used febreze or something? I tend to favour square foamboard as a base to keep it in line with my board edges, never liked circular bases for terrain, but I like what you've put together, blends well. Where do you hunt for the grassy foliage? Any favourite shops to check out? I shop online but I rarely find good bargains.
Looking really good. Any plans for placing fallen branches, trees, roots - stuff like that? Maybe coconut fibre could work for some of the finer messy roots?
Seems better to add the foliage first, I'd be cautious with the watered down pva afterwards on the final step. The spray bottle/airbrush seems better but won't work if foliage is first.
Nice terrain, do you gonna make some streams/paths through the jungle? That could add interest to the table(do i go fast and in column or slow and deployed?) The sides of the paths could be a good place to put linear clumps of bamboo. Is just an idea.
where did you get your mask from Mel? I've been trying to find a decent one but my local big box hardware scores only seem to have the flimsy throw away kind :/
Did you know, that most geniuses have a "habbit" of having a word they use to end a thought. I'm glad all the negative comments about "yeah" doesn't bother you. They are just not geniuses.
Great work and loving the progress. really enjoyed the "compromise" between removable and permanent foliage. to enable troop movement inside the cover but still limit it slightly (in addition to whatever terrain rules an individual system may have) which is particularly nice in a dense jungle theme. Is this planned to be for bolt action? Any chance we can see some games played on the board when you're done!? Oh, and do you plan to spray the plants with a matt clear coat before giving them a quick wash like in the earlier tutorials, or just rely on the wash to remove the plastic-y shine? you probably won't need it to hold down your "flock" since you've already cured it with the pva and the wash, but i've found that it helps the wash hold better on the plastic and it never really hurts to give an extra layer of protection :) I promise this will be the last question, but di you have any plans for water features? Not necersarily rivers, but what about swamps or marshy areas?
It is for BA and no doubt we'll have a couple of live games on the channel when we do. I'm planning on using matt medium with a brown wash for the plants but all the pieces are going to get a hit with matt varnish anyway, so it'll get handled one way or the other mate. I've got loads planned for the build including rivers, swamps, mangroves etc mate
Dumb question but have you ever used bubblegum or chewing gum as a filler or something like that because gum hardens and what not and when you chew it it’s very pliable, anyway just a question????
If you look at some of Mel's older videos, there are lots of ideas for different sizes of terrain and you should find something that you would like to give a try. Mel has done dozens and dozens of videos where he assumes the viewer is a beginner like you ( and me too ) and takes you through stage by stage until you have the finished terrain that you wanted. Check out some of his playlists on this subject, you won't be disappointed. Have fun Aleksandr, Joe
yes thay and know who are got what whont the dumb pome tree happy well meell like it so fare me doing so,e big guys youl see ans see youzsun day [[[[[[[[[[[
Lol “ big balls” love the video, I save a lot of your videos as tutorials and inspiration for stuff that I wanna do.
I love the idea of the feathers for palm trees! Those look like a great attempt to replicate a palm frond.
All that green foliage against that chocolaty brown really looks beautiful!
I’m commenting as I watch, 10 mins in and it looks so good.

Won't be long for the next part bud ;-)
Once again knocking it out the park Mel!
You are a legend. Anyone asks me terrain questions i refer them to you
Very nice indeed Mel, you are on to a winner here mate. Best of luck with the rest of the Big Burma Build!
Have fun mate,
Joe
Thanks buddy!
Great work Mel!
I'm not sure there's no place for simply giving us a vlog for the BBB. They're a nice change of pace, still with some educational/inspiring stuff.
Keep up the great work, boss!
I'm enjoying them, they give me a little creative freedom and a chance to do more in depth stuff mate
At 16:09 the bases mounted on the plasticard look like little chocolate cookies, lol!
Glad to see you back on the project, I can't wait until it's done!
Don't make me hungry
Great to see you working on jungle terrain again.

Watch your liver bud!

Ian
I've seen entire trees do with hotglue mate, the plan is to actually cover the ground with foliage, so I'm not worrying about the roots on these
Hiya Mel, Brilliant tutorial. You have given me a idea for Endor... I wait with baited breath!
Crack on bud!
that's gonna be one cool looking board dude... 👍💪😎
Oh yeah! ;-)
Looking froward to using some of your ideas for a Catachan Jungle table. Thanks Mel
Gotta love a death world!
BBB again yay, keep up on it dude!
Fingers crossed, it'll be a regular monthly series mate
I am definitely not a jungle boy myself, but I must say this looks really really cool...
Very interesting and truly inspiring, I looking forward to the next update ...
So maybe I am a jungle boy... after all ;-))
Many Thanks Mel for showing and keep up the good work.
I love jungle terrain, it's like the ultimate in foliaging!

Told you I had a plan buddy, still finding the flow but we're getting there ;-)
Mel, awesome video. The pieces look great! Ever thought of adding a piece with quicksand??
Excellent videos, will watch them all. Yeah!
Good stuff mate
cheers mate
And make a shrine for your Budda with some stairs and offerrings etc, and some old ruin just to break it up a bit, that would look realy Nice. ..
Still playing around with that piece, have something special in mind for it mate
really useful techniques cheers!
Love it when you say foliaging...... lol
It's the only way to say it!
beautiful, very inspiring !
thanks bud
Super idea !
Cheers mate
Cool vid good timing as well working on a botanical garden for my poison ivy gang for batman
That sounds like perfect timing mate
This...yeah....was a great..yeah...video yeah👍

Lot's of things like that planned mate ;-)
mel, love all your videos, they really helped me. sorry I'm a bit late to this but i found and use brown colored hot glue sticks.
Oh, I likes that idea!
Not sure how I feel about nice smelling terrain. Hm. Too used to the the semi-intoxicating whiff of strong solvents and adhesives, maybe? I LIKE, the herb mix. Looks cool. Maybe if I used febreze or something?

All of the above bud ;-)
I'm making a board like this for my tyranids i can only hope it turns out half as good
Just follow along mate, I'm sure it'll look great ;-)
Could you mix your pva sealant with the brown stain? Looks nice, I am just not sure about the mixed tropical and temperate look.
AWESOME!!!
Cheers
Great terrain and inspiring! Why don't you put glue in the brown paint that you put in the end?
Don't need to, going to be sealed properly later
Seems better to add the foliage first, I'd be cautious with the watered down pva afterwards on the final step. The spray bottle/airbrush seems better but won't work if foliage is first.
at around ~ 24:30 wouldn't it be a good idea, to add some PVA to the watered down color?
You could but I know I'm going to seal them anyway way
I'd like to see you do a POW camp in bamboo skewers.
I'll be doing a village for sure mate
could you do a scetion of the BBB featuring all the figures, vehicles and tanks you have done and any you are working on ? PS great work too
Hi Mel. I can never seen to find that extruded pvc you talk about. Could you link me some? Thanks
Have a search for palite mate

oh lots more planned for this build mate
Very cool
cheers bud

It's from 3M mate
Did you know, that most geniuses have a "habbit" of having a word they use to end a thought. I'm glad all the negative comments about "yeah" doesn't bother you. They are just not geniuses.
I've had a few projects had to change as they took so long a new version of a game came out and changed things. I sympathise :o)
Terrain has to evolve with the game mate
True Mel. True.
Great video I am a warhammer 40k player I would like to know how to make a volcano out of card.
You're better going for rolled up paper balls covered in papa mache mate
05:43 Heh. That's what happens when you spend ages away from the missus being a hobby genius :D
Also, that's SOME way to announce your teabag intentions X'D hahaha
Looks very nice Mel. Are you planning to put some paint on the plants or is their plastic colour OK?
Going for washes mate, mainly browns ;-)
Great work and loving the progress.

there's better putties than don't go moldy mate
@@TheTerrainTutor never seen moldy gum but then again one does throw it away:)
Thanks for responding:)
im novice in this theme, but i want to create a first model, you have a idea for me?
