I'm surprised by Walle's hesitancy to swim given all his other characteristics, and I must say, I do believe that is the first time I've seen a dog asked to be taken out to the stick then swim it back. Walle's got how to play fetch in the water all figured out. Zazu...well, I'm convinced Labs really are part duck with just great retrieving genes. Zazu's a sweetie. Oh, and JFTR, he wasn't thinking I hope I can a piece of steak, he was thinking, since I've got two of the best humans ever, I know I'll get a piece of that so I'll just wait right here.

What a beautiful place to camp with the boys 💙💙 certainly a peace of heaven. I love to watch Zazu swim. It is the exercise that he loves and is such a natural. Camping with dogs is just the best, my lab had his own bag, he did not like the poping of the fire, so when it started getting dark he would go and stand by the tent door, inside he goes and lays on MY bag. He was totally cool with being left alone in the tent for a few hours. So many great memories, thanks for posting.

Dear Anji, If Walle still doesn't swim, here is what my husband did to teach our GSP. They do swim only they are not aware of it. So my husband took our GSP in his arms and walked into the lake a bit, not very far from the shore but far enough to get into the deeper water where Dante (our GSP) did not touch down. Then facing the shore, he let Dante free. He repeated this a few times then walked into the deeper end a bit more and more again. In an afternoon elapsed Dante realized that he actually CAN SWIM (Yaayy!!!🤩😍). After that he became an "Aquatic-Canine-Sapiens" - (he always thought about himself as a differently shaped human). He loved water beyond any other activity and that is great because they don't overheat, don't dehydrate, it's very complex an exercise yet easy on joints. I hope this helps if Walle still has doubts related to his swimming skills. With Love🤗😘 PS: Oh my, I see later that you did exactly the same - oh, well, I still let my message on, just another proof how we (parents) think the same...
We really want Walle to like swimming, right now he is still a little nervous. It just means that we need to go to the lakes more often 😂 Walle is slowly building confidence... hopefully will soon be like Dante ❤️
