I'm taking delivery of mine this coming Tuesday, been waiting for 10 f*cking months... I think I've probably seen every available review on UA-cam there is by now, but I was so glad when you guys finally did one 😍 Now I'm even more excited for next week!!
We’ve had ours for 18 months now and done 15,000 miles in it and we’ve never noticed anything wrong with the suspension. We have the 22” wheels and it’s super comfortable and controlled. About to take it from the UK to the south of France for the third time. It handles perfectly and the ride seems great at any speed. We generally get about 50 miles on a full charge but if you take it out on a long drive including some stop start traffic and town driving, we have managed to get 65 miles out of it when in hybrid mode. Can’t fault it.
What is the maximum speed it will do before the engine kicks in. I currently have a Mitsubishi outlander Phev and the engine kicks in at 80mph my daily commute is 44 miles so I’m looking at getting the 45e within the next 4 months
Driving the x5 45e now for 3.5k km. never experienced any issue you described with the suspension. in contrast, car is an absolute gem on the highway, eating miles with great performance and comfort. no idea if your car had an issue or so. i bought mine in 2022.
I would say the same. We own a 2021 X5 45e Manhattan green love it and I’ve never had the issue you’re talking about. Anytime it gets a lil too floaty, I just knock the suspension down a level and it solves it. Also the thing about have the car for a week vs owning is, you can setup driver profiles and set electric for example, to drive with sport suspension and sport dampers. I live in the mountains above napa and I can just hug turns in electric collect all the regen juice down hill and having electric mode setup like sport allows me to do that. Living with the car I think your opinion would change.
I just drove one and it was exactly that experience. I got almost seasick behind the wheel. At the same time short knocks come easily through the suspension like in my old E84. BMW unworthy.
Hello Everybody, I'm so happy that someone mentioned this problem. I Have a BMW 540d Xdrive mit adaptive suspension which leads to air suspension at the back. I'm having exakt the same problem. I realized, that only 1 of 10 people can feel this. It drives me nuts. I agree 100 % with Alexander Menck comment, short knocks come through and pumps lead to "jumping" suspension at the back. Switched between comfort and sport, sport nearly solves the problem but strengthens the short knocks. I'm really unhappy and was thinking about switching from my 540d to this X5 45e, but know I'm not confident if this is the right decision. Oh man BMW, please solve this because everything else is so great.
@@benjaminseiger9341 I really wish I felt what you’re talking about. I’m curious if the roads and types of tarmac they are using in your areas is the culprit? I drive ours so often literally never experienced it. Can you explain it differently?
I agree with you on the suspension. We have a 45e and while it is super comfortable and one of the smoothest suspensions I've had, it feels floaty and not confidence inspiring.
I have driven a X5 M. It is all right. It appeals to many people. It is not my type of car. We all like different things. Variety is the spice of life.
My father has the M50d, in standard driving mode (non-sport) with optional air suspension, it too is under-damped. Agree it drives and rides better with dampers stiffened up in sport setting.

Hello. Your description of rear suspension is exactly the same that i experienced with 2019 x7 30d. Also thought that somethin is wrong with the car. Chanel is amazing, keep up the good work.
Weird that they detuned the B58 all the way down to 282 HP on this version. Is it just lower boost? Assuming it has the TU (Supra) HPFP, there's massive room for tuning power gains. ECU flash and downpipe alone may add over 100 HP. I'm curious.
I did test drive one of those when wanted to buy the 40dX. Used the „Adaptive” mode and the handling was just terrible at high speeds - the steering was super precise, but body roll was just simply insane - way, way bigger than in my F15 X5 on steel springs even tough I have 18” rims with baloon 55 section tires on it. Then I knew that air suspension in X5 is just not for me. Apart of that it also left me with mixed feelings - it was shockingly quiet, but didn’t felt as fast as it actually was and the gain in comfort was way smaller than the loss in handling. Soon after that BMW cut the discounts and cut the equipment due to semiconductors shortage, which led me to at least try if the Cayenne is just an overpriced product, where you pay mostly for the badge… and probably next week I’ll finally get my new Cayenne GTS 😂
How does the engine warm up in these cars? After 15min in electric mode let’s say, you need power suddenly. What happens ? You floor a cold engine? These cars in second hand not for me
Qua veerkarakteristiek heb je 100% gelijk. Ik geloofde het bijna niet totdat ikzelf een 45e had, na iedere verkeersdrempel voel je de auto 2x een veerbeweging maken. Ongelooflijk slordig van BMW.

Driving a 2022 X5 45e and I have the same issue as you describe with the suspension. Even in sports mode the car is bouncy. Went back multiple times to the dealer and they say they don't feel anything abnormal. Tires have been roadforce balanced by the dealer, but did not help. Accelerating and braking (mainly automatic regen) below 50km/h does not feel smooth.
Yeah drive it everyday never experienced this issue. Hope you get it figured out. May just not be the vehicle for you. I have a 45e and I experience horrible squeaking and crackling when changing directions (like doing a three-point turn) and steering one side to 100%.
