This was the first public performance of the entire Queen of the Murder Scene album. This was in Mexico City in November 2018, so the girls were 18, 16, and 13. They are best as a live band, with a pure unadulterated rock sound. Raw, energetic, and passionate as rock was meant to be.
All 3 girls can and do sing lead, but it's mainly the guitarist. The drummer does a few songs, and the bassist if she's forced to. The Queen of the Murder Scene is a concept album that tells the story of a girl who goes from unrequited love to obsession, stalking, murder, and then a battle against her evil side for her soul. This song is actually the girl's funeral, and you are invited in to hear her story.
They recorded this album in 2018, maybe partly late 2017; at the Lunario performance, they were 18 (Daniela or Dany, guitar), 16 (Paulina or Pau, drums), and 13 (Alejandra, or Ale, pronounced AH-leh, bass). They are sisters. They started on piano around age 5, and started their second instruments around age 8 or so (Maddog Jones should be along with his full bio). Pau is the secondary lead singer; she sings about 25% of the songs. Dany is the principal lead singer. There are a number of songs where Dany and Pau share the lead in various ways, most notably in Survive, Sinister Smiles, and Disciple. Ale rarely sings lead; she's a good singer, but doesn't enjoy singing lead. All three sing backups. The man is their co-manager, Rudy Joffroy (Luis Villarreal, their father, is their other co-manager; their mother, Monica or Mony Velez, is their personnel manager). He's playing the part of a preacher at the funeral of the protagonist of the album, so this song serves as both a prologue and an epilogue. As you're planning to review the entire album, I won't tell you more about it, other than that there's a lot of variety in their music. They're known as an exceptional live band. Typically their live recordings are better than their studio ones, in part because they're more energized and in part because time has elapsed since the initial recording so they've both improved their skills and made changes). But they don't normally depart from the recording, although in one case they had a guest other guitarist who traded solos with Dany, so the song was extended. They have indicated that at some point they want to add more jamming, but they're working on improving their skills progressively. The bass in their first two studio albums is really too low in the mix; it's somewhat better on Mayday, but I think the low bass is still a bit too low in the mix. It's not that I like thumpiness either, but Ale is now playing a 5 string bass, and her low B string sounds and feels fantastic with a good subwoofer (there are some live recordings without compression). Interestingly, Choke is my least favorite from Mayday (although "least favorite" simply refers to a stack rank; something has to come in at the bottom) and Evolve is my favorite. There are actually 12 songs, with another 6 to come presumably some time this year. From what they've said, there are probably some really good songs to come, and it would be like them to release the best songs after having gotten some attention from their upcoming tour.
The Warning are very good at translating the studio sound in live shows. Actually they sound better live imo. They certainly have great stage presense for they have played together since they were very little. At this show Dany the guitarrist was 18 I believe,Pau the drummer and vocals was 16 and Ale the bassist was 13. Also that was not their dad but their manager who plays roll of a preacher preaching about salvation for this song takes place at a funeral i believe and is the prologue to the album which is a concept album. Thanks for your reaction!
This is the kind of band that you must see live to fully appreciate! Great young talents! The QOTMS concept album is a masterpiece! BTW, the bassist, Alejandra (age 13 at the time), wrote the bass & main riff for "Dust to Dust"!
They are a great live band! Nice reaction, Sir! You could check their newest singles Evolve, Choke, Animosity… they have great live session versions on their channel that will not get blocked! Dany the guitarist is the main lead voice, but Pau the drummer sings lead on some songs, Narcisista, The End… thanks, greetings from Germany 👍⚡️🤘
Great reaction Smitty! The Villarreal sisters were 18, 16, and 13 years old at this performance. This song was created from Ale`'s amazing bass riff when she was 13 years old. Their manager Rudy is portraying a preacher at the "Queen's" funeral. The entire QOTMS album is a story of a girl's journey through unrequited love from infatuation and obsession, on into stalking and murder, then madness and the fight over her soul. It highlights their great lyrical writing and amazing composition and arranging skills. Half of the songs were written when they were 17, 15, and 12 years old. Their songs are entirely written and arranged by the three of them. There are no adults or other "helpers". Looking forward to watching your discovery of this great band! 🗣Thank you! 🤘🤓💯
I enjoyed your reaction and your approach to the music. This was their debut of the album _Queen of the Murder Scene._ At the time they were: Alejandra 13 (bass and backing vocals, piano), Paulina 16 (drums, lead vocals, backing vocals, piano), and Daniela 18 (guitars, principal lead vocals, piano). The cameo appearance was their manager, Rudy Joffroy, who also was on the recording. They are three incredible songwriters, musicians, and performers. The entire Lunario concert is available on their UA-cam channel. First time viewer. Subscribed!
My neighbor (our Dad garage band bass) serves musicians to help get their royalties. Introduced me to this group before they started working with him. HUGE energy.
Jason Flom of Lava Records felt the same as you after seeing them live at The Mercury Lounge in NYC. He was so excited and impressed with them he met them the next day for 2 hours and they hammered out and signed a contract 7 months later. Also, Chris Smith of 21 Entertainment Group saw them at The Whiskey A-Go-Go in Hollywood, CA, met them after the concert, and later flew from Toronto to meet them in their hometown of Monterrey, Mexico and signed them to 21 EG. It was Chris Smith who suggested to Metallica for the collaboration with The Warning and Alessia Cara to record the Enter Sandman cover for the Blacklist charity album. Alessia is also a featured artist with 21 EG.
Hello Smitty, thank you for your sincere reaction and point of view. Here are some performances that helped me to reflect upon their journey and grow. 2018, Take me Down, Dakota Bar: ua-cam.com/video/VLm72P-1ylU/v-deo.html (impressive to me is that it was composed by Ale the bass player when was around 9) the grove, the stage presence, the love, the feel for the music. Fast forward: 2020, Dull Knives, The Warning Cave (in their basement): ua-cam.com/video/-VUCzqDyOdI/v-deo.html, (there is a live performance of this at Whiskey a Go Go. The ones who were there said it was just awesome performance (and to add more, after almost 2 hours of concert at the end, they played by request Atlas Rise from Metallica with an out of this world energy and mastery) Here their stance towards detractors (not critics) for them composing and singing in English: 2019, Narcisista, En Vivo en Foro DiDi Monterrey: ua-cam.com/video/O7IAEhN4RMM/v-deo.html Queen of The Murder Scene, is just to me an extraordinary feat from whatever angle I think about it. To me is good and satisfying by a LOT seeing young ladies of the TW going for rock. I mean there is so, so, much around in terms of other genres with wayyy more "attractiveness" but they decided to put their talent, discipline and work on this. Keep rocking and peace! Thank you!
Dust To Dust, THE THEME OF THE BEGINNING OF THE GREAT CONSEPTUAL ALBUN OF QOTMS, WHICH ENDS WITH THE THEME THE END, TO UNDERSTAND IT YOU LISTEN THEME BY THEME, IT IS THE STORY OF A GREAT PSYCHO LOVE
QOTMS is a concept album about stalking and murder so please be sure to react to the the songs in order. The man delivering the preacher's speech is their manager, Rudy Joffroy.
What you are starting to notice is that with all 3 albums, the music is diverse. Some songs are punkish, some classic rockish, some grungish and so forth. Don't give up on the Mayday LP, I am sure there are songs you will like on that. Choke was clearly tuned to be on radio airplay which is probably why you notice some of the modernism in the music.
THAT IS WHY THE WARNING, IS THE WARNING!!!. SIMPLY AND SIMPLY 3 SISTERS, THEY SOUND AS IF THEY WERE 5 OR MORE, THEY COMPOSE EXCELLENT SONGS (MUSICALLY AND LYRICALLY) THEY ARE A SPECTACLE WHEN THEY ARE ON STAGE, IN STUDIO OR A CAPPELLA, THEIR SYNCHRONICITY IS PERFECT AND THEY ARE EXPERTS OF THEIR MUSICAL INSTRUMENT INCLUDING THEIR VOICES. THAT'S WHY THEY ARE THE ROCK REVOLUTIONARIES OF THE 21ST CENTURY. THEY ARE NUMBER ONE! EVEN IF THEY ARE ALLERGIC TO THE COMPETITION. THEY DON'T NEED TO DRESS UP AS ANIME OR VAMPIRES OR MAKE GUTTURAL NOISES WHILE SINGING, SIMPLY THEIR TALENT, ABILITY, DISCIPLINE AND PROFESSIONALISM MAKE THEM STAND OUT FROM THE WORLD ROCK SHOW BUSINESS. LONG LIVE THE WARNING!!! 👍🤘_⚡⚡⚡⚡🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽💯💯💯💯 SUSCRITO Y LIKE SOLO POR THE WARNING.
Nice reaction to the "Warning" the girls have said in interviews that the latest album captures there live sound the best so just don't know if your ear is so used to the modern compression used in music recording now that it triggers your ear ,would be interesting to see your reaction to the live sessions from Victoria Studio's they did (Choke, Evolve, Animosity) would be the same.
I love The Warning and really wanted to see your reaction. However, I couldn't get past the annoying beeping you use that happens while you're talking at the beginning, so I exited.
Right on, feel free to skip ahead when the music starts, when the FX also stop. It’s just a little thing I like to do cause it’s fun for me. I understand if it’s not your thing though. Thanks for checking it out!
Hey man. I am enjoying your reactions and think you are doing a great job at this. The one thing I will say is it is hard listening to your intros because the damn sonar binging sound is as loud as you are and it is really annoying. Just tone it down to a background sound and then I can watch the openings more. Trying to be constructive, not complain.
Hey thanks for the input and the kind words. I’ve done away with the sound with the future videos, I think. I’ll agree it’s a tad distracting. We’ll just have to imagine we’re in space lol

Paul the drummer sings lead in most of this one. Nice reaction
The "preacher" is Rudy one of their managers
Excellent
Pau(drummer) sings lead on somewhere around 25% of their songs. This was the live debut of the entire album. That was Rudy their manager not their Dad
One of the cool aspects of this band is their variety. They refuse to keep writing the same song over and over.
