Since 6 months ago, I have depression and stress because of my workplace. I wish I can quit, but my family needs money. So I tried a lot of handcrafting and ideas to sell. From accessories to stationary, then I tried making soap after saw some soap videos, mostly yours Katie. And I hooked! Soap is my new hobby and fell in love immediately. Also, in my country it's really rare to find handmade skin care products. Now I'm planning my soap business and after I make some profit, I'll resign from my job. Wish me luck!
I work at lush and I recommend you use a plant based glitter to create an amazing shimmer in the water, seaweed glitter for example is hydrating and safe for kids and pregnant women

I once saw someone using this press and she poked a hole in the middle of the first-half full of the mold, finished filling it, then pressed. No packing, obviously, she just plopped it in and made sure to get that air pocket in the middle and they float every time! 🙂🙂 In case you wanna give it a try
For the record, I have no interest in bath bombs and have no idea how I got here, but you don't "need" to buy the "porter cable" brand of air compressor. Those types of compressors are called "pancake compressors". The connections you have are extremely standard and can simply be found by searching for "Air line and tool quick connect". Just FYI. Oh, porter cable is just a brand. It's not a bad brand per se, but if you find another compressor cheaper you'll be fine. (So long as it can reach 90 psi)

I just need to THANK you from the bottom of my heart. I've been struggling for two months trying to alter my recipe to work on this machine and yesterday I sat down in pure frustration to do even more research on what could be the issue and found your video. Just watching the video and using the texture you described helped me figure it out. I had it way to dry and had been scared to dampen the mixture with 99% because I live in a city with 80% humidity daily. But yesterday I got 3 batches to work just feeling the mixture and using your press with hands and move the hand pressed piece around. If it broke to easily I knew I needed more moisture. 😭😭😭 It's been days of pulling my hair out and tears, but not any more.
If you want them to float Katie all you gotta do is not pack so tight and poke holes with a kabob stick or even your finger! Fill the mold half way and poke poke poke then fill to the top! Absolutely NO packing it in. Also to make them spin n shoot color use embeds! ❤️
But if you don't use clay to make it hard, they will easily break during shipping. Also Lush has a patent on embeds so I wouldn't use those.. They also have a patent on Bubble bars. People get sued all the time here in Portland when they are selling them at craft shows and markets.

I use the fizz fairy dyes for all my bath bombs 😊 they are water soluble so you don’t need poly 80 and they won’t stick to the tub ... you can even use quite abit of colourant ... and Tina is Amazing to work with and order from 😍
Don't be afraid of water. No RA or WH. I live in Maine, it's humid. Start with the most basic recipe you can find. Low oils, no water added unless its to dissolve a dye. What you saw on top of your water from the sugared strawberry was oils. The dye stuck to the oils, which is what polysorbate 80 helps with- mixing the oils (and therefore colorant) into the bath water.
They came out fantastic! You are certainly right on the price point. I love that you let us know who it is good for. Between the air compressor and the press it is a substantial investment... not practical for home crafters... but great for people with client base. Even with the client base you would still have to do the nerdy math and figure out how many bath bombs... including batch failures it will take to pay off the machine. That being said... growth can cost.

I had a pneumatic bath bomb press and sold it about six months after I got it. I’ve been using Bath Bomb Xpress’s hand press, and I just love it. My bombs float and have a nice, smooth finish. So much depends upon the consistency of your mix. I think my problems with the pneumatic press were because of the fine, fluffy consistency of my mix. Different things work for different people.

I have two requests 1- can you make a smaller bath bomb with the smaller mold and then get the bigger mold have another color and put some of this bath bomb powder in the mold and put the small bath bomb you just did and then put some more powder and press this way you'll have one color fizzing and then it'll change color at the end 2- can you try and put some detailed textured fabric or stencil or something in the mold from the bottom or top idk and put the powder and press you'll end up this beautiful textured artsy bath bombs (I hope lol) 😂 Hope you like these suggestions and hope you do them soon x❤ Please like so that she sees this x❤

I have a bath bomb press and really like my 3d printed molds as well. The recipe I got from the manufacturer is VERY bubbly so I had to change mine up a bit too. Poke a hole in the mold a few times before you pack it and mine always float (even the big ones). Water dispersible dyes are so much nicer than regular lake dyes. Good luck in this new journey Katie! The reason the ones with the rings float is because the gumball plastic bubble the room is in is mostly full of air.

That press is the same one I use and it’s AMAZING. it’s so affordable and so are the molds and it’s super easy and quick to use.

What did I learn with bath bomb making?
purple pigments will react with Citric acid and makes it smell like sulphur
I found this out the hard way! Two batches of bombs that i couldn't bring myself to use :(
only if they are ultramarine based :) you can use lots of purple colours , just avoid ultra marines and you will be fine :D
Better than my lesson when I tried to use Lakes for the first time....don't be afraid of using more poly80. My sink was blue for weeks.

Poke a hole in the mold a few times before you pack it and mine always float (even the big ones). Water dispersible dyes are so much nicer than regular lake dyes. Good luck in this new journey Katie! Ummm...a black pepper + patchouli + vanillin scent? I know this is a signature combo of that other hand made place ( rhymes with flush) but they kinda of only make it for Halloween and only as a bath bomb and I think a shower gel. *hint - it's Lord of miss....

Katie I love you and your channel, but I truly hate the bath bomb press company. Their customer service is trash, they don't sell certain products until you've made a large purchase with them before; and worst of all they're just rude.
