  • The Boundary Waters Canoe Area (BWCA) is a brooding, eternal land of elemental rock and water that beckons canoeists with the promise of wilderness and solitude. A place where it seems time has stood still for hundreds of years. A place that holds the possibility of sighting a moose on a portage trail, the tug of a lake trout on a fishing line or the sound of wolves howling at night. Come with me as I leave civilization behind and lose myself for 10 days of paddling and portaging through this ancient land of majestic pines, crystal clear water and ancient rocks. Lakes visited on this spring trip in the second half of May include but not limited to East Bearskin, Crocodile, Crystal, Pine, Stump, West Pike and Mountain. #camping #outdoors #nature

Where are all the mosquitoes and black fly's lol?! Brings back memories. My Dad used to take me up there and over the border every summer. We never filtered the water. Just drank it from the lakes and streams. Back in the 70"s. Great times. Good video. Thank You!

Thank you very much. Glad it brought back some good memories for you. If you go early enough in the spring you can totally miss the mosquitos, but the black flies can be horrible though on the sunny warmer days. I do bring a head net along. I do drink right out of the lake without filtering.

There were also many many wild blue berry patches to gorge on. Smallie fishing was excellent if you could find the structure also. I noticed and like how you outfit light and stick with the traditional Duluth style pack. Also the paddle strokes you use. Well done lol. @@nemadjihermit

@@nemadjihermit yes I watch UA-cam when I am working in the home office it's mostly canoe camping trips unless I'm looking for a project. We live off grid too and have 50+ sled dogs in Normanna Township 😎

Great video! What brand/model camera were you using?

Thank you very much. Actually I’m just using GoPros, a Hero 8 black and Hero 11 black. I also use a Canon 7D Mark II for the wildlife footage but I don’t think there is any in that particular video.

This looks amazing. I wondering the route you took, and the campsite you were at 6:41?

In the description I gave a rough outline of the lakes I visited in their approximate order. That campsite was on Stump Lake, it’s beautiful lake and campsite and my favorite spot of the trip. I spent three nights there all told.

I don’t really do planned routes anymore, I just have a general idea of the area I want to visit and move about as the spirit moves me. If I find a lovely spot I linger or if I don’t like an area I move on quickly.

Thanks for replying. I'll take a look. Maybe it was your filming techniques, but the areas that you filmed have looked more beautiful than. Any other places I've seen in the boundary waters. It looks like a very likely place to visit next August.
Also, I noticed the description after I commented. Sorry about that. Once again, thanks for the great video.

Great video but a little narration would have made it even better.

Thanks for the compliment, glad you liked it. I’m not much of a talker but maybe in future videos I might try and add some narration.
