Fabulous! I recognized the area you traveled immediately. The number of sheds you found is amazing. Beautiful work on all counts. Thank You for a lovely experience.
Thank you very much. Shed hunting/bushwacking is one of my favorite activities to do in the spring and fall in the BWCA. I’m glad you enjoyed the video and hopefully it brought back pleasant memories for you.
@@nemadjihermit I visited with a couple of gentlemen that were searching for a logging camp that was just ENE of your first camp. They found the site ! The father of one of the gentlemen worked at the camp. The small lake was named after the camp.

@@nemadjihermit 😃👍🏼. I think we used to use those boots for lawn care treatments 😃👍🏼. The other thing I was wondering was if that was a littlbug stove? I guess i have one other question 😬…. No worries.. it is a littlbug stove. It works great and I absolutely love cooking with it. As for paddling with a single blade vs a double blade the only thing I can say is just get out there and start using one. I kayak and canoe and I don’t have any problems switching back and forth. I think you’re pretty much using the same muscles.
Great video, thanks for sharing. I was there on a 14 day trip many years ago & say 8 different moose in September. Had two walk right through our Malberg campsite.
I was born and have lived almost all of my life in large American urban areas but I love these videos about camping and canoeing in the northern wilderness. I would love to take my astronomical binoculars out there and just look at the sky at night unobstructed by city lights. But, I would be concerned about bears, wolves, cougars, and bugs.
@@sevenstarsofthedipper1047 The night sky is absolutely amazing in the pitch darkness of the Boundary Waters. As far as risks go when camping in the BWCA animals aren’t anything one needs to be particularly concerned about. Thanks for the comment, I’m glad you enjoyed the video.
Well done, Nemadji. Very peaceful video. Beautiful scenery. My favorite was the footage of the owl. I also liked the various moose and grouse shots. Looked like you very much enjoyed your trip. That particular area is among my favorites in the BWCA. Thank you for sharing. :)
Thank you very much for your kind words. I’m glad you enjoyed it. I do enjoy these solo trips in which I’m able to connect with my surroundings on a deeper level and I try to convey that in my videos and comments like yours make me think that I succeeded. That area is my favorite as well.

I give you a ton of credit... I did a 2 week solo in September and could not get the camera work right, it started detracting from the trip and vibe so I stopped. Trying to release a 15lb northern, camera, waves was a mess lol. Great video as always
Lol…Yes trying to manage all of that can be a handful and I’m not always successful either. I just keep at it because I like the results and it’s nice to have a record of the experience. Practice makes perfect. I know what you mean about detracting from the trip, always thinking about camera angles and getting the shot does get tiresome and can feel like work. But reliving the adventure and putting together a coherent sequence of events once I’m back in the comfort of my home is pretty rewarding and it gives me an extra incentive to get out there and do more trips and who doesn’t like that…But anyways, thanks for the compliment and I’m glad you enjoyed the video.

Just finished watching your 2023 Fall solo. Great video. After decades of going to the BW, this June I found my first set of Moose antlers. Great you found so many and got to see several Bull Moose. I know it's hard work making these. Hopefully, you will continue to do so. I noticed the ending credits show Wonder Lake just west of Sawbill. I might check that lake out this August returning to Sawbill on my solo.
@@airmorse Thanks for the great comment. I just finished two back to back trips so I will have a couple of new videos out soon….I do enjoy making them not only for UA-cam but also for my own personal enjoyment. Bush whacking in the spring and fall has been one of my favorite activities for a long time and stumbling across antlers every once in a while makes it all the better. I fell in love with Wonder Lake when I discovered it a few years ago and decided to make it my spirit lake. It’s a beautiful lake with a great campsite and best of all doesn’t see a lot of visitors.

Excellent film making! You capture the spirit of Boundary Waters so well. It looks like you use a DSLR + zoom lens for the wildlife videos, no doubt safely dry bagged during paddling! May I ask, what are the main shooters during paddling & portaging? Was it a couple of GoPro Heros?
Thanks for the memories. I did an 8 day from Kawishiwi to Pan in late July 2023. I wish that I could have taken much more time and spent a little more time at each lake along the way. Any thoughts on how to eliminate double portages?
You’re welcome and thanks for the comment. That’s a great area to get into the heart of the boundary waters. Yeah, hit the gym and put on about 50 more pounds of muscle. I’m of the opinion that you should just slow down and enjoy the portages as much as the lakes, there is plenty to see there as well. If you feel like you’re in a hurry you have two choices, either allot more time for your trips or don’t be so ambitious.
Thank you, I’m glad you enjoyed it. It was the Kawishiwi Lake entry, not sure what number that is off hand. I’d rather not divulge my exact route for this trip. It was a ten day trip starting on October first.
Excellent video, thanks for sharing! I've had several summer trips, but a late fall trip looks beautiful. What were the temps? The only logistic I havent worked out is the footwear - I generally wet foot during travel and it would be too cold for that in the fall. Are those rubber boots tall enough to keep you dry? I seem to have been over my knees a few times this year!
Thanks for the compliment, I’m glad you enjoyed the video. In the spring and fall there’s always a chance of bad weather, I have experienced snow few times, so you need to plan accordingly. But the beautiful weather, lack of bugs and fewer people makes it worth it. When the water is cold I do wear rubber boots, you do have to be careful about not going over them but it does happen. In my opinion fall is the absolute best time to visit the Boundary Waters.
