I got the impression it was more of a reflective "I knew it" she heard him but didnt filter it out well enough to know it wasnt just "The rats talking in the walls" like she mentioned to Mirabel. Looking back she realized it must have been him, but she wasn't sure in the moment. The way she talks about him in "We Don't Talk Abou Bruno" implies that she thinks of him as an aparition haunting her more than a real person
I wonder if she had mentioned it and was told it was in her head or if she had said nothing to avoid being ostracised. We've seen she can't keep a secret so something else was going on.

Am I the only one who finds Augustin's "The triplets all reunite!" To be adorable. It very much implies the last generation (Pepa, Julietta, Bruno, Felix, and Augustin) had a lot of good times together. With August in being the same wacky and supportive one he is now

Well, she’s the only one who didn’t vilify Bruno and probably realized everyone overreacts or lies about him. Her whole part in “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” is talking about how he had to struggle with such a powerful gift and people always misinterpreting and making crazy assumptions about his visions.

She would have taken this time to understand his pain seeing as her own power must be a nightmare to deal with.

I never understood why Bruno was appologising, they were the ones angry at him, they are the reason he left and they didn't even bother going to find him. they even when to the lengths of saying don't even talk about him... one family member even knew he was still around and said nothing. they didn't say sorry to mirabel either. tbh this family is horrible to members that cause issues,even if those issues are trying to help them (grandmas on my your going to a retirement home list) beautiful movie but some dodgy family.

Also… fairly certain they were really surprised and glad to see him, so they didn’t immediately think to apologize. And he was apologizing because… that’s.. him. I’m the same way. I apologize about.. literally everything, even if it’s not necessarily my fault (or it’s out of empathy/sympathy). It just comes out. Just happens. Naturally, a person who doesn’t like conflict will try everything they can to appease the conflict. Yes, that’s unhealthy. This movie is about a family healing. It’s the whole point.

Bruno was apologizing for "leaving". No one knew why he left, and he only did it to protect Mirabel. Everyone assumed that his power was causing bad things to happen. So when he left the family's assumption was that their misfortunes were over. They didn't "talk about Bruno" because they thought he abandoned the family.
And Doleres could hear him talking to rats, so most of it was probably random things he was saying to himself. But even if Doleres knew, she likely didn't want to upset the family and had no reason to tell anyone until there were problems with their gifts.
Alma saw her husband killed in front of her and then had to rise magical triplets by herself. She had to protect the whole town not just her family. You can't blame her for having high expectations caused by generational trauma.
Yeah I had a problem with the lack of apologizing in this movie. From the sister basically making Maribel apologize for being born. Then they sing and it’s swept under the rug.
Bruno did the rational thing when he left because he knew how they would have treated Maribel.
(It’s also dumb that they would blame Bruno when he is just telling them what he saw.)

He was trying to tell her it’s okay that when she’s emotional it rains. Abuela is the one that taught her the rainstorms “ruin” things- like the line “no clouds allowed in the sky” was probably something abuela said to her before the wedding. Bruno was trying to validate her feelings but abuela villanized him to the whole family. It really wasn’t her nor Bruno’s fault. Abuela just sucks.

That is what is triggering me, becuz I've been in that same boat where I'm obligated to "apologize" just for something a family member disagreed with, I tried to be the "good family member" by apologizing, but then when the issue was brought up again i just snapped and said "you're not worth pleasing" and "i don't care what you think anymore", thats something I think this film fails to teach, how to actually deal with a toxic family member
