Eris severing the connection to the throne world isn't the first time we've seen this sort of thing. We actually did the reverse back during the Dark Below campaign when we severed Crota's connection to the universe
That last entry would’ve been an amazing cut scene. Listening to you speak it. I was able to picture what everybody was doing and it just would have been a very good final cut scene.
The way Ikora speaks in the radio message has me wondering it the 3rd episode, Heracy, will be where we deal with Xivu. Also, Ikora starts out by talking about the portal in the traveler, and how Eris' plan worked, banishing Xivu, but she doesn't link the two thoughts together.
It definitely feels like they didn't have the answer yet. Like it can either be an object, like the aforementioned heirloom, or it could be the idea of "becoming your enemies" which is what this whole season is about. I guess we'll just have to see what happens...

I think it stands to reason something even more powerful could influence, break or perhaps even destroy that throne world. Having power dwarfing Oryx himself may gave given Eris the authority to axe Xivu's, a lesser Hive, connection to her throne world. It wasn't specified it was destroyed... My question is what stops Xivu from making another one

Check out Sororicide XII (Love) and the love on the seasonal sparrow "Laminos." It makes it sound like Savathun helped Eris escape the moon and the ritual to give her the hive eyes.

The answer to the portal has to have something to do with strand. That was the power that revealed itself when we needed it most and the power that savathun directly showed to us through osiris.
My biggest complaints is we should have seen what happened in the lore card in that cutscene as well also how the hell is her body still intact? After witch queen eris chopped her body up in an autopsy and suddenly it's whole again for the vanguard to transmat

There probably wouldn't have been too much they could have done with Xivu's throne world. We've had some lore entires describing it as being nasty, visceral, and covered with weapons everywhere. Seemed pretty simple to reflect how simple Xivu really is. The way in probably has to do with the Imbaru engine since there's still one more minor arcana locked away. And/or something related to the veil
My only guess is that the imbaru engine can somehow be used to enter the portal. looking at the triumphs and deck of whispers there appears to be 1 more test in there that we havent unlocked yet.
It would be interesting if we get a lore tab of Eris talking to Osiris about strand, since severing a connection that strong would warrant such a conversation. It would help explain how she came to her plan.
Still think that key like structure on the Witness's Pyramid Ship has something to do with it, seeing as it points directly into the heart of the Portal
The biggest problem is that the majority of people won't read the extra lore or watch lore videos and be really confused when Savathun returns... "I thought savathun was supposed to be dead?" That last lore entry should have been in the cutscenes too, because it's very consequential.
It totally is, and a lot of people would miss it, that's why im not 100% happy with how it ended. Overall I did like the season, I do share the opinion that the ending should've been longer and explained more, otherwise we get another "The Veil" situation.
like when she nova's that ogre and popped chaos, or flew in during splicer. They got Saint to pop bubble, SURELY they can implement other characters in missions, right?
Eris Morn, star of the season! Really enjoyed the seasonal plot, enjoyed the finale, I just wish that the lore entry was part of the cutscene too. I'm sure there's all sorts of reasons that as a player we don't think about, but it would have been cool to see that bit rather than being stuck to reading it.
We’re also missing the last card for the Imbaru Engine, so there’s also that to expect before the end of the season. Edit: I hope we get to hear from Elsie following these events. I think it’s a shame they’re not really using her character much, but hopefully that changes Edit 2: I think the Imbaru engine will most likely tell us what we need for the portal
Think about this now we have light, dark, strand and with the addition of hive magic, we are more than capable of crossing the portal. We just need the formula to do it..
Just as an FYI if you don't know the Table where you get your Cards changes when you get all major arcana and shows a celtic cross (a tool for telling the future) and the cards show the Wish card in the Solution position
Savathun looked at immaru, smiled and told Ikora and Eris that they have the answer. And imaru is the key to the traveler. Immaru is the connection to the light. Immaru is the connection to the light that should never have been. It’s a to the light and the dark at the same time.
I wanted Ikora and Savathun to have a throw down. My money was on Savathun. I loved how my Guardian came in with “I am!”. Like, Savathun, I’ve already gave you the beatdown once…
Xivu keeps trying to pull her throne world (the black terrace) into our reality, so I think if she does that we'll probably still see it. Maybe she won't be able to resurrect but will still have the other powers a throne world gives.
If you read “XII Savathun” is basically confirms that Savathun manipulated everything with Eris from Crota - now. All so Xivu could have a sister to love.
I would like to point out the secret could be an Ahamkara. Ikora says "what form its taken" and there are no other shapeshifters in this game that I know of.
The whole severance thing bothers me because it brings us to the question of whether we would ever visit Xivu's Throne World. From what Savathun said about her sister's sentimentality, it would have been a great opportunity to showcase that contradiction in game; how Xivu's Throne World differs from her image as the Hive Goddess of War. So I hope Xivu will be done justice and not just get swept abruptly in some kind of dungeon or something like what they did with Calus at the end of LF. But then again Calus got his own raid, dungeon, and the whole campaign of LF was about facing him.
I think Xivu's banishment from her throne world could open up for some really interesting story implications in the future I'm imagining the power vacuum will cause a new foe to step up and take her place as the ruling power over that space I'm also wondering if this is really over for Eris, I can't imagine that 1 single spell - no matter how large - is enough to completely sever her connection to the hive
I hope this lays to rest any concerns about Eris turning evil and becoming the Witch Queen in this timeline? She was presented with the Hive's power but rejected it. If anything, choice is what defines us. Also, I love Ikora's VA. You can hear in her voice her barely veiled fury as she said "It went against my every instict to let Savathun squirm away again..."
They bring her back to deliver those amazing 2 lines. And then shes shanked. Makes total sense. Loved this story beat. I forgot about killing Savi so she could take her power.
My theory with how eris cut off xivu is fairly speculative but what if by gaining savathunes power she was given her chance to create her own throne world? We've seen this with caydes death that a sufficient powerful foe could allow you to do so and eris even mentions potentially having her own throne world but saying after that she will never have one. So my theory is in that moment, she held true to her world and instead of using the power to create her throne world, she used it to seal a throne world or erase it. Thereby never having the chance to have her own just as she states earlier in the season.
there are a couple of things that she has given to us that i think it could be there is her big ship on mars there is her throne world there is the black pyramid ship in her throne world i mean what if we ride one of those through the portal or if the throne world is a bubble attached to another bubble why can it attach to a second bubble and become a gateway between the two (crota accidentally opened a gateway to the vex in a throne world once)
I wonder if what Savathün says is "You already know how to breach the portal, it is within you and will reveal itself when the time is right" is meant to be taken at face value and literally. With enough paracausal power and knowledge of the Light & Dark we can cross the portal. So perhaps next season will be Savathün and Queen Mara Sov working together jointly with Eris to use her Imbaru to allow us to breach the portal?? Maybe just maybe?
It's weird that in our dialogue with her, Eris says that Ikora "tells her" that Savathun was resurrected again and is leaving Immaru with us, but then in the lore book Eris was awake and also part of that conversation with Savathun. Also if we were already in the room, why would Eris feel the need to tell us things we already saw more accurately than she did while passed out? I liked the ending but definitely think that the whole lore entry should've been in the cutscene.
Has anyone else noticed that after the main cutscene eris says ikora told her savathun was revived again but in the lore entry eris is there when she gets revived and was talking with savathun asking for the portal info
I’m thinking that because Xivu’s throne world is a sort of “parallel space”, and we cut her off from it to make her an accessible target, that the secret Savathun gave us is, likewise, a manner in which to sever the witness from the traveler’s “inside”. Sort of unlocking the connection the witness formed to the traveler and thus allowing us to follow through the now unlocked path. Just a thought, if I’m guessing based off what happened this season. But, you know, bungie. This is all possibly an open road left that way intentionally while they devise the rest of the story going forward.

Also Eris just received the power of the Leviathan Eater, should be a pretty big power up and I'm sure that Savathun had even planned that and let herself be killed 🙈
My personal critisim of the overall narative is that they've given themselves too short of a time to tell all of these stories, there are some that could be fleshed out to their own expansions but because someone in an office went 'this is the optimal way to keep player engagement for the lowest cost!' We have paragraph per week storytelling. I honestly think that this "method to enter the traveler" is another Veil a nothing burger of a mcguffin. This season should have replaced plunder, the reason we need savathun is to fight off Xivu along side us, and the reasoning for us to let her go is she will release Osiris or tell us how to. I think that Witch and Deep could have been combined. We could have cut out the entirty of Deep which only seemed to be 'Look this worm knows the Witness's Origin" a cutscene everyone loved but all agreed should have been in Lightfall. Ahsa could have been discovered and used to help Eris turn into a Hive God (which she does, but off screen) and I personally think the pacing of this Season has been a bit weird, it felt like the middle three weeks were just listen to three conversations that all kind of said the same thing, Eris weak, Eris not enough tithes, Eris might get stuck as hive, Savy is kinda scary. Our fight with Xivu should have taken place in Lightfall with Seraph being the kicker to start off the big battle. It also feels like they're trying to tell two core stories at once; The Light and Dark (which i kind of find boring and uninspired and every story directly linked to it has been lacking) The Osmium Dynasty (which has been very interesting even as it has gone on in the background of other expansions like Forsaken) I'm honestly glad they haven't talked about anything other than the Episode names and format for post Final Shape, because like a lot of people I'm so done with this narative after that expansion, and that honestly a fuckin shame, what they have going on in the background is so close to being good that it's like actually angering how much they fumble it.
The answer to the portal will reveal itself via the imbaru engine final test, its all leading to something we find there once we prove ourselves worthy, only the recordings and the final card for the imbaru engine remain left in this season as well as the lore entries. if anything is leading to an answer i can imagine it being a final mission before the next season finally completing the imbaru engine and finding the left item/knowledge in the engines final room

I know it's in Savathuns nature not to be trusted. But her giving us immaru is way too alarming. I think she's setting up a power play where she may no longer need a ghost to use/access the light. For whenever she makes her grand reappearance post-final shape. Plus I wonder if it's possible for Savathun to spy on the city through the literal eye of immaru. Isnt there instances of guardians getting brief glimpses of their ghosts view before getting resurrected? so couldn't that process be reversed if so? Especially from the hive god of cunning?
I think it's the fact that we attuned to the elements of the light I think our guardian is now radiating a frequency that will allow them to enter. I'm also curious if being attuned to the light means that we don't need our ghost for anything besides resurrection now?
always, bungie not a big enough company to make interesting cutscenes anymore, but that's the issue of seasons ~$15 mini expansions with minimal stakes intrigue or ramifications 70% of the time
great finale to the season imo. The boss was easy but it was interesting, it reminded me of the tower part with Zavala in red war. Didn't expect the ending cutscene to go that way either tbh
Was weird that after all that we only had to engage with one of the elemental mechanics though. Seemed like it would have made more sense if we had to do a little bit of void, arc, and solar to win but I only had to do solar.
In the other lore entry from this week (I think it was tied to the final Major Arcana card), it implies that Savathûn is in some way responsible for Eris escaping the Hellmouth, and has strongly guided her path in the time since that moment. I believe that detail may be linked to what Savathûn means when she says “I have already showed you”. Perhaps the secret is tied to Eris’ “rock”?
Xivu created her own throne world Couldnt she just create a new one? That would wash down eris victory If she cannot ever step foot in another throne world or create another that a whole other thing. But thats something we would need answers on. If she cant get another one we could go to war against her brood without the fear of her brood dropping on earth in masses through portals like on torobatl. If we find her, shes in trouble big time. And i personally would like to have next season being the hunt for that bitch which ends up in an exotic mission with some epic ending and a challenging boss fight
They did telegraph the zero face to face with Xivu and mentioned that we need to deal with her after the Witness is dealt with! So Xivu is either a dungeon boss or a post final shape direction of travel. Eris and Germaine moving to a cottage and making happy ever after. The god of war is a god no more!
Prediction: Eris's little green orb contains an ahamkara bone and she's going to wish us through the portal. The ex diris lore reveals the last card she draws is the wish (the wish was the last time-gated card in the Deck too), and the new sparrow we can now get has lore indicating Eris might have an ahamkara bone. If the green orb that has been part of her design since D1 pays off in lore / story terms that'll be pretty cool :)
I always love to see Savathun. I'm just sad she didn't have more lines. She is my absolute favorite of the characters in the game. What comes to mind of "how to follow the Witness", maybe it's to do whit what she was doing, moving the Traveller to her throne world, or tie it to it somehow. I'm just glad I stayed with the game since Lightfall. This season has been interesting and fun. I haven't felt pressured to play something I don't like. Plus the lore. I just wish we see more of Savathun. Maybe not helping us per se, but pulling the strings to get what's needed. So more Savathun and more Caital.
They keep doing these false high stake seasons. I love the theme and ideas they have. It's just they keep making it seem like oh no Sloan is close to being fully taken, oh no Eris might be corrupted, etc. Like there sacrificing so much Then at the end it gets resolved and nothing really happens outside of us benefitting and another villain comes back. Like Ermis gets frozen at the end of beyond light then comes back for a season, savathun dies at the end of witch queen comes back for a season, now I'm just waiting on calus to come back, and then the witness. Idk just feel like it would be a lot cooler if Sloan got fully taken, Eris becomes a hive god and corrupted. Be different then this same stuff.
Destiny lore stuff. I think I can explain with lore why the witness targeted Mars (Raputin) and Titan (Assa) . but I cant seem to think of one for Io and Mecury.

there is a quest to unlock the second imbaru engine test. you unlock it with a new card that appeared

It would be interesting if we get a lore tab of Eris talking to Osiris about strand, since severing a connection that strong would warrant such a conversation. It would help explain how she came to her plan.
Still think that key like structure on the Witness's Pyramid Ship has something to do with it, seeing as it points directly into the heart of the Portal
Fun season, I just wished the ending cutscene couldve been longer because it did feel a little short, with the added lore everything is good tho.
The biggest problem is that the majority of people won't read the extra lore or watch lore videos and be really confused when Savathun returns... "I thought savathun was supposed to be dead?" That last lore entry should have been in the cutscenes too, because it's very consequential.
It totally is, and a lot of people would miss it, that's why im not 100% happy with how it ended. Overall I did like the season, I do share the opinion that the ending should've been longer and explained more, otherwise we get another "The Veil" situation.
That last lore entry made me really crave a battle with Ikora by our side... would be an epic mission, let her just pwn everything in her way lol

Really enjoyed the seasonal plot, enjoyed the finale, I just wish that the lore entry was part of the cutscene too. I'm sure there's all sorts of reasons that as a player we don't think about, but it would have been cool to see that bit rather than being stuck to reading it.

Think about this now we have light, dark, strand and with the addition of hive magic, we are more than capable of crossing the portal. We just need the formula to do it..
Just as an FYI if you don't know the Table where you get your Cards changes when you get all major arcana and shows a celtic cross (a tool for telling the future) and the cards show the Wish card in the Solution position

Savathun looked at immaru, smiled and told Ikora and Eris that they have the answer. And imaru is the key to the traveler. Immaru is the connection to the light. Immaru is the connection to the light that should never have been. It’s a to the light and the dark at the same time.
I wanted Ikora and Savathun to have a throw down. My money was on Savathun. I loved how my Guardian came in with “I am!”. Like, Savathun, I’ve already gave you the beatdown once…
Xivu keeps trying to pull her throne world (the black terrace) into our reality, so I think if she does that we'll probably still see it. Maybe she won't be able to resurrect but will still have the other powers a throne world gives.
If you read “XII Savathun” is basically confirms that Savathun manipulated everything with Eris from Crota - now. All so Xivu could have a sister to love.

I would like to point out the secret could be an Ahamkara.
Ikora says "what form its taken" and there are no other shapeshifters in this game that I know of.
It's either Immaru or The Witness' flag ship that they left behind.
The whole severance thing bothers me because it brings us to the question of whether we would ever visit Xivu's Throne World. From what Savathun said about her sister's sentimentality, it would have been a great opportunity to showcase that contradiction in game; how Xivu's Throne World differs from her image as the Hive Goddess of War. So I hope Xivu will be done justice and not just get swept abruptly in some kind of dungeon or something like what they did with Calus at the end of LF. But then again Calus got his own raid, dungeon, and the whole campaign of LF was about facing him.

I think Xivu's banishment from her throne world could open up for some really interesting story implications in the future
I'm imagining the power vacuum will cause a new foe to step up and take her place as the ruling power over that space
I'm also wondering if this is really over for Eris, I can't imagine that 1 single spell - no matter how large - is enough to completely sever her connection to the hive
It'd be cool if Xivu retreated to Torabatl, and after final shape we travel there to liberate the Cabal home world for Caitll
I hope this lays to rest any concerns about Eris turning evil and becoming the Witch Queen in this timeline? She was presented with the Hive's power but rejected it. If anything, choice is what defines us.
Also, I love Ikora's VA. You can hear in her voice her barely veiled fury as she said "It went against my every instict to let Savathun squirm away again..."

My theory with how eris cut off xivu is fairly speculative but what if by gaining savathunes power she was given her chance to create her own throne world? We've seen this with caydes death that a sufficient powerful foe could allow you to do so and eris even mentions potentially having her own throne world but saying after that she will never have one. So my theory is in that moment, she held true to her world and instead of using the power to create her throne world, she used it to seal a throne world or erase it. Thereby never having the chance to have her own just as she states earlier in the season.
there are a couple of things that she has given to us that i think it could be
there is her big ship on mars
there is her throne world
there is the black pyramid ship in her throne world
i mean what if we ride one of those through the portal
or if the throne world is a bubble attached to another bubble why can it attach to a second bubble and become a gateway between the two (crota accidentally opened a gateway to the vex in a throne world once)
I wonder if what Savathün says is "You already know how to breach the portal, it is within you and will reveal itself when the time is right" is meant to be taken at face value and literally. With enough paracausal power and knowledge of the Light & Dark we can cross the portal. So perhaps next season will be Savathün and Queen Mara Sov working together jointly with Eris to use her Imbaru to allow us to breach the portal?? Maybe just maybe?
It's weird that in our dialogue with her, Eris says that Ikora "tells her" that Savathun was resurrected again and is leaving Immaru with us, but then in the lore book Eris was awake and also part of that conversation with Savathun. Also if we were already in the room, why would Eris feel the need to tell us things we already saw more accurately than she did while passed out? I liked the ending but definitely think that the whole lore entry should've been in the cutscene.

I’m thinking that because Xivu’s throne world is a sort of “parallel space”, and we cut her off from it to make her an accessible target, that the secret Savathun gave us is, likewise, a manner in which to sever the witness from the traveler’s “inside”. Sort of unlocking the connection the witness formed to the traveler and thus allowing us to follow through the now unlocked path. Just a thought, if I’m guessing based off what happened this season.
But, you know, bungie. This is all possibly an open road left that way intentionally while they devise the rest of the story going forward.

My personal critisim of the overall narative is that they've given themselves too short of a time to tell all of these stories, there are some that could be fleshed out to their own expansions but because someone in an office went 'this is the optimal way to keep player engagement for the lowest cost!' We have paragraph per week storytelling.
I honestly think that this "method to enter the traveler" is another Veil a nothing burger of a mcguffin.
This season should have replaced plunder, the reason we need savathun is to fight off Xivu along side us, and the reasoning for us to let her go is she will release Osiris or tell us how to.
I think that Witch and Deep could have been combined. We could have cut out the entirty of Deep which only seemed to be 'Look this worm knows the Witness's Origin" a cutscene everyone loved but all agreed should have been in Lightfall.
Ahsa could have been discovered and used to help Eris turn into a Hive God (which she does, but off screen) and I personally think the pacing of this Season has been a bit weird, it felt like the middle three weeks were just listen to three conversations that all kind of said the same thing, Eris weak, Eris not enough tithes, Eris might get stuck as hive, Savy is kinda scary.
Our fight with Xivu should have taken place in Lightfall with Seraph being the kicker to start off the big battle.
It also feels like they're trying to tell two core stories at once;
The Light and Dark (which i kind of find boring and uninspired and every story directly linked to it has been lacking)
The Osmium Dynasty (which has been very interesting even as it has gone on in the background of other expansions like Forsaken)
I'm honestly glad they haven't talked about anything other than the Episode names and format for post Final Shape, because like a lot of people I'm so done with this narative after that expansion, and that honestly a fuckin shame, what they have going on in the background is so close to being good that it's like actually angering how much they fumble it.
The answer to the portal will reveal itself via the imbaru engine final test, its all leading to something we find there once we prove ourselves worthy, only the recordings and the final card for the imbaru engine remain left in this season as well as the lore entries. if anything is leading to an answer i can imagine it being a final mission before the next season finally completing the imbaru engine and finding the left item/knowledge in the engines final room

I know it's in Savathuns nature not to be trusted. But her giving us immaru is way too alarming. I think she's setting up a power play where she may no longer need a ghost to use/access the light. For whenever she makes her grand reappearance post-final shape. Plus I wonder if it's possible for Savathun to spy on the city through the literal eye of immaru. Isnt there instances of guardians getting brief glimpses of their ghosts view before getting resurrected? so couldn't that process be reversed if so? Especially from the hive god of cunning?
I think it's the fact that we attuned to the elements of the light I think our guardian is now radiating a frequency that will allow them to enter. I'm also curious if being attuned to the light means that we don't need our ghost for anything besides resurrection now?

always, bungie not a big enough company to make interesting cutscenes anymore, but that's the issue of seasons ~$15 mini expansions with minimal stakes intrigue or ramifications 70% of the time
great finale to the season imo. The boss was easy but it was interesting, it reminded me of the tower part with Zavala in red war. Didn't expect the ending cutscene to go that way either tbh
Was weird that after all that we only had to engage with one of the elemental mechanics though. Seemed like it would have made more sense if we had to do a little bit of void, arc, and solar to win but I only had to do solar.
The Leviathan Eater should have been so much more than a heroic public event, wtf happened between Deep and Witch?

In the other lore entry from this week (I think it was tied to the final Major Arcana card), it implies that Savathûn is in some way responsible for Eris escaping the Hellmouth, and has strongly guided her path in the time since that moment. I believe that detail may be linked to what Savathûn means when she says “I have already showed you”. Perhaps the secret is tied to Eris’ “rock”?

If she cant get another one we could go to war against her brood without the fear of her brood dropping on earth in masses through portals like on torobatl. If we find her, shes in trouble big time. And i personally would like to have next season being the hunt for that bitch which ends up in an exotic mission with some epic ending and a challenging boss fight

They did telegraph the zero face to face with Xivu and mentioned that we need to deal with her after the Witness is dealt with!

It would have been cool if we did some ritual like the hive do to sever Xivus connection.
Prediction: Eris's little green orb contains an ahamkara bone and she's going to wish us through the portal.
The ex diris lore reveals the last card she draws is the wish (the wish was the last time-gated card in the Deck too), and the new sparrow we can now get has lore indicating Eris might have an ahamkara bone.
If the green orb that has been part of her design since D1 pays off in lore / story terms that'll be pretty cool :)
I always love to see Savathun. I'm just sad she didn't have more lines. She is my absolute favorite of the characters in the game.
What comes to mind of "how to follow the Witness", maybe it's to do whit what she was doing, moving the Traveller to her throne world, or tie it to it somehow.
I'm just glad I stayed with the game since Lightfall. This season has been interesting and fun. I haven't felt pressured to play something I don't like. Plus the lore.
I just wish we see more of Savathun. Maybe not helping us per se, but pulling the strings to get what's needed. So more Savathun and more Caital.

They keep doing these false high stake seasons. I love the theme and ideas they have. It's just they keep making it seem like oh no Sloan is close to being fully taken, oh no Eris might be corrupted, etc. Like there sacrificing so much Then at the end it gets resolved and nothing really happens outside of us benefitting and another villain comes back. Like Ermis gets frozen at the end of beyond light then comes back for a season, savathun dies at the end of witch queen comes back for a season, now I'm just waiting on calus to come back, and then the witness. Idk just feel like it would be a lot cooler if Sloan got fully taken, Eris becomes a hive god and corrupted. Be different then this same stuff.
Destiny lore stuff. I think I can explain with lore why the witness targeted Mars (Raputin) and Titan (Assa) . but I cant seem to think of one for Io and Mecury.
We now have the Hive as an Allie. We have the same goal, to survive the witness.
