so much truth here. amazing how artists think that being an entrepreneur & grinding is "too businessy". then they're surprised when no-one listens to their music. thanks for sharing this gem L.Dre
As a Lofi producer with 35 k monthly listeners I really took this video in. He's right, just make something to catch people's attention and get organic likes and listeners. Maybe make some skits or something, how many videos come out every day of someone just making a beat or how they made the beat or just some cover art with the beat playing. Gotta go harder. Also this encourages me to just release the music. Let's drop once a week!
Is there a strategy to releasing once a week? I’ve see. On this channel to set your release 3-4 weeks for better chances to get on playlists, anything besides that? Thanks!
Looking at content objectively is probably the hardest thing to do but it makes so much sense. It can be challenging to focus solely on the art and the brand he's right. Its so important to prioritize the listener.
Shout out to the independent artists getting to it 💪🏿💪🏿 This L.Dre & Nic D content was necessary! If you’re an indie artist, I wish you nothing but success in 2024!
The strategy of promoting playlists instead of the beats is exactly what I’ve done since 2020 and I was very successful with that (I’ve ended up also making my own lofi label Sleep Tales in the process). There is only a few things to have in mind about that, to not rely only on that and make it also healthy in the long run :)
this is crazy for me... i just SEPARATELY discovered both you guys! him first then i found you and BOW now you two have a vid together... imma take this as a sign lol
im really glad more people are finding nic. my homie introduced him to me about like a year and a half ago and i loved his music, sadly i didn't see many interviews with him at the time and now i see him alot more and i love that because he is just such an interesting smart person who makes it very easy to learn .
Hope to see the full interview soon! This video is absolutely packed with gems! Nic D is so inspiring and awesome! Thank you for these awesome vibes, L.Dre 🥳
This was an immaculate video. You given so much value to me as a producer since I was a teen In High school just learning ableton. To an adult right now I’m forever grateful. Furthermore for the people that need this it will go a long way thanks 💚 for always given back to community.
The idea around the 3:00 min mark is also talked about in atomic habits by James Clear. More efforts over time will give you more chances to succeed and more growth overall, versus one big effort / one shot.
yooo.... 😳 it sounds so simple, yet those ideas somehow never crossed my mind for long enough to think about it... I want to hear about the mental side, i want to hear it all, you both are a great at this music producer/marketing game and i want more knowledge! 😁
“Ppl care more when they think they find it and less when you tell them about it” This is a very intelligent person. This man is someone to listen to when he speaks.
13:50 on that note of avoiding spotify because of the pay wall, I've heard that free spotify user's streams actually pay out more per stream, because the free customers have to listen to the ads frequently, and that ultimately makes Spotify more money per stream than premium customers do, so the free user's streams pay out more.
this video is sooo inspiring and I fell like is super interesting for producer that follow you, some more video like that will be very nice sometimes in future, I'll check the full interview on your other channel for sure:)
Plenty of 💎s in this video. I was always liking your songs on Spotify and adding to my liked songs playlists but I will definitely add more of your playlists to listen to. Can't have Griselda bumping when I have my daughter in the ride 😂.
I try to be consistent with the creation, but I also feel it’s necessary for me to take the same time to do my “lil Reese” research and videos like this are perfect. Thank you
I’ve been doing that playlist move he’s been talking about for years. When people ask about my lofi stuff I send em to “All My Lofi” so they can listen to every lofi beat I ever released and then they can shuffle it. Only 6 followers on it so far but it’s the most streamed playlist I’ve ever been on and it’s not close because the math is strong
I'm not pulling in crazy streaming numbers but I've earned over $150 from my music via Spotify so far. That playlist has thousands of streams so far so it's at least partially responsible for what I've received
Yup once I knew posted this snippet and decided I was dropping I Immediately stopped making videos to it and waited for release cause people will want the music and it ain’t even out
yo man, i know this question is kind of separate from the video, but i’ve been trying to update my artist platforms to look the way i want, and youtube is one of them, and i know when you release music their music will actually show up on that persons UA-cam channel, same for you, your music shows up on you channel as supposed to me, is that because you have a larger following or did you apply for that somehow?
I think people need to STOP ✋🏾 putting information out that Doesn't work for Everybody other than themselves. Because everyone Niche or style isn't going to be the same step by step HOW TO GUIDE to success. Because it's always going to be info based off of someone else's experience, in how they've done it versus how it could actually be executed 💯
Won’t be the same for everyone but nothing wrong with tips and best practices from someone that’s made it 🤷🏽♂️ I put the info out there and it’s up for the viewer to decide how they want to proceed
Promoting playlists is smart, you could even use other peoples' music to hook listeners into the playlist, then sneak your songs in at position #2 #3 etc. 🤣
Yeah I messed the math up right here - it was those five songs have to total 33k streams a day. They each have to do 6.5k a day each or somethin like that
I don' get it 1 000 000 streams : 1 song streamed 1 000 000 time is not equal to 100 songs streamed 350 times, nor 5 songs streamed 33 000 times 🤔 Can someone explain the maths / stats ?
It's 1 song streamed 33k times a day is equal to 1 million streams per month, and 100 songs streamed 350 times a day is equal to 1 million streams per month. He's saying it's easier for you to release 100 songs that each get 350 streams per day than trying to make 1 song that gets 33k streams per day.

the absolute worst part of music, the social media. but finding your audience feels so good
I completely agree with you social media is a plague but you can meet so many like minded people there
Love this. Nic D is him.

Takes me like 5 years to get a million streams. 😶 tbh i gave up on trying to make music my main income, it got kinda exhausting ngl 😌

By not having the full interview already uploaded to your other channel prior to this, you didn’t fully pay attention to what Nic is preaching
Btw if you have 5 songs doing 33k streams per day you'll have 5M streams per month :p think he meant 1 song needs 33k streams per day. love nic d
