12 years after bilateral mastectomy, multiple surgeries due to infections, chemo infusions including 33 radiation treatments and reconstruction, it came back. Metastasis in my bones, spots on my lung and liver. 2 and a half years later, here I am. My spots have disappeared. I take chemo pills twice a day, I did 10 radiation treatments also. Like you, I go for lab and hormones blockers monthly. Every 3 months, CT scans, I see my DR and bone infusion. My tumor marker is lower than any healthy person today. My hip has started to hurt recently and I have slowed down my gym visits for now. Positive attitude and living a normal life is key. I’ve gone from wheelchair to walker to cane to heels and back. I’m at flats for now because of the hip pain but planning to go back to heels and dancing. I’m soon to be 71 😊 good luck to you, it is definitely tough, but we can do it! 💝

Some people make it and some don’t. My niece died in January of this year. She went fast but my step daughter has been fighting for 2 years now. It keeps coming back. After surgeries and chemo. It’s hard to say why some people live a long time and others don’t. It has nothing to do with being strong or fighting. My niece was strong and so is my step daughter.

I cannot talk this calmly about what am I going to cook today and here you are talking about cancer and metastasis… what a strong lady it’s unbelievable. This attitude will help you heal dear. With cancers is very important to stay calm, stressless and happy as you already are. My aunt was diagnosed with breast cancer and was given 3 months to live. Year later she went to Dr that diagnosed her and he was shocked that she was “still” alive and told him:” It’s God who’ll decide for me how long will I live and not you”. Now 27 years later, she is warrior. Nothing can stop her helping others in community with any function they have, from panning baby showers, to weddings to preparing meals…cook on festivals basically doing her regular things even though at times she is in extreme pain. Good luck to you dear, you’ll get out of this as a winner❤

Thats why they are now doing more and more neoadjuvant and adjuvant chemo , meaning giving chemo to make sure it doesnt spread. Even with the double mastectomy unffortunatly its not guaranteed a couple of cancerous cells have not spread , thats why chemo is so important helping to kill cancerous cells thoughout the body sistemically. Is chemo shit ? Of course it is. It gives horrible complications at times but its undeniably a good weapon agaist cancer . And agaist cancer reocorrence too. I just finished radiation two weeks ago and when they did the right side somehow they hit my heart with the radiation. So now I have a weak heart also had to have three stints put in.

I don't know of any functional doctor that would have recommended tamoxafin. It kind of goes against their way of practicing. My mother is a breast cancer survivor, did tamoxafin, dealt with some (not all) of the side effects, and has been cancer free for 16 years. She wanted her percentage of reoccurrence to be as low as it could be. It's such a personal journey and each individual has their own risk/reward calculations. Unless you were doing blood biopsy tests, typical lab work wouldn't have really picked up on any signs or markers that would raise any red flags. I hope you are able to get the appropriate treatment to address this latest round, you definitely have a positive outlook and fight to take on this journey.

Thank you for sharing your story. This year made me realize that we as women go through so much cr@p in our lives and yet it's unbelievable that in this day and age we are still so under-estimated. Earlier this year I went through diagnosis and surgery of 2 breast tumors myself. It was very humbling and stressful experience, especially that one of my surgeons (I had two surgical opinions) was just not a nice person (to say the least) and made the entire experience a whole lot worse. Here in Canada where I live we can't be very picky as our healthcare is in very poor state. Sometimes cancer investigations and breast surgeries take many months, and people die on waiting lists, so you get the picture...
I watched your 2 previous cancer videos and agree with you that mindset is so important when dealing with situations like this. It took me about 2 months to start getting my $hit together, and I look for more inspiration. Wishing you all the best and I hope that they will be able to suppress your mets with the treatments you picked. I will certainly follow your journey.

There was a new study in Europe, I think, that is looking at the possibility of taking a lower dose of these drugs. There is some evidence that the benefit ratio is still good.
The research on cancer treatment is mind boggling.
I do find a UA-cam geneticist called The Cancer Guy (runs a business for DNA testing if the tumor and makes recommendations for precision medicine). His videos are very interesting. His company CTOAM (Center for Treatment Options and Management.)
      He works with your oncologist.
Some of the large cancer centers also do genetic testing. Places like Dana Farber or MD Anderson. This will be a new standard-of-care in the future, but the whole field is not there yet. The science is always ahead of the medical practice.

Hi Karina..I was searching for an Alo Yoga haul review, and saw your video. I feel I was led to see your testimony, and to become aware of your journey. I watched your video yesterday, and have prayed for you as much as I can since then. In church tonight we sang a song about "Christ being magnified in me," and I thought of you, and how Christ has magnified himself through you. Your video made me think so much about the wasted time I've had on giving importance to the things in life that are not important (i.e. accolades, regrets, unfulfilled desires), as in the end the most important thing is love. I know love can be defined in many ways, and I feel that is a part of our worldview. However, the holy spirit is with you in this journey, and it is with sharing your life with everyone that Christ can use as too as vessels, so he may be magnified in us as well. Although I have never met you, you are my sister in Christ, and I am grateful to of heard your story. May the peace that surpasses understanding continue to manifest itself in you.

Karina, what an incredible inspiration you are: healthwise, spiritually - well, in every way, because you are also incredibly beautiful and chic. I think you have a very intelligent way of dealing with this: looking up research articles, getting expert advise from several sources, and then choose the route that is in accordance with you gut feeling and faith. These years, cancer is no more necessarily a death sentence like it was 30 years or more ago. Today, it's more like a chronic disease one can live a good life with for many, many years. A lot of the stories in the comment section can witness to this. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and experiences on such a private and sensitive matter. I send you tons of love, hugs, and prayers for a full recovery. ❤🙏❤🫂🌹🌹🌹
