- We sit down with the six-time BSB Champion Shakey Byrne to find out his best-ever season, the difficulties of '18, rider management, his plans for '24 and his memories of the late Paul Bird... It's a fascinating chat, an emotional watch at times, but a real eye-opener into the world of Shakey.
Enjoy!

Another great chat and good to get some of the great Off Track "not the usual questions" being talked about... One thing I couldn't stop looking and thinking about was, did anyone else notice how thin and small the Ducati superbike looks from only a few years ago compared to the winged space ships we have now..!!!
Excellent interview with the great man. Shakey was definitely world class and it was a shame he didn't find the right bike at world level, but at least he can look at his endless championship trophies and know that he made a hell of a mark!
Thank you, that’s hugely appreciated - no question on his ability, plus there’s a lot of luck involved in racing and he had his fair share of both sides. Great fella.
Don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone ride like Shakey did on the “Fast Bikes” roads trips with the lads ! Blew my mind at the time ! No surprise he became a BSB champion 👍👍👍
He can pedal, no two ways about it 😁 I’d have LOVED to have been part of those trips ✊🏼🍻
How can you possibly only have 2.3k subs!!!!! This is quality stuff and deserves a much wider viewing.
Haha because I’m not well-known outside of the paddock and we’ve started from ground zero - we’re growing steadily. Appreciate your kind words 👊🏼
Legend with plenty to say, what a team own he could be too ( task master with big whip ). Get him again Dave !
I think he's up for it! We've seen something in the Spring that we might be able to gatecrash again 🙌🏼
Thank you Dave, another brilliant podcast
Brilliant loved every moment
Thanks, Penny 🙏🏼
Absolutely brilliant
Cheers Paul, so glad you enjoyed it 😊
It felt like two mates having a chat which is great to me. Us motorbike racer fans have lost far too many of our heroes at too younger age so Shane retiring suits me fine. You've gained another Sub.
I really appreciate your kind words, thank you and thanks for the sub, too! The show is only as good as its guests and we’ve been very fortunate this year to have some very open and entertaining ones 🙂
And yes, I understand you perfectly on that sentiment 🙏🏼
Shame that Paul Bird has passed on, his impact on motorsports is immense and a bit of a shock
Thoroughly enjoyed that Dave 👍
Thanks JNB! I was hoping it would go down well and I’m so glad you enjoyed it 👌🏼
Enjoyed that 👌
Great pod again team shakeys great. 🤟
Cheers Rod, always appreciate your kind words 🙏🏼
Absolute fucking legend 😂😂😂 great stuff Dave and shakey.
Can’t use that again! It’s genuinely being retired 😁 what a guy… 🙌🏼
If you have him on again ask him about the Fast Bikes days with Colin Schiller, Great Channel hopefully the subs will really start rising 👍
He’ll be on again for sure, DC, so I’ll ask him 🙂 thanks for your kind words, we’re building week on week and plenty more to come 🤞🏼
This was brilliant
Thanks so much, Dean! Really appreciate that and glad you enjoyed it 😊
Great podcast again

Agreed, Nick - the Amazon one was poor for those of us outside Spain
It’s hilarious how Josh Brooks still bothers hims.
Best BSB rider ever…end of.
The records don’t lie ✊🏼 genuinely top fella, too
Awesome episode Shakey is a legend…. But can’t help but think the actor to play him in a movie of his life…: Daniel Craig 😂
