Got to agree with the 80’s been best for racing . I also was a teen , racing first year of AMCA motocross, brilliant bikes and even better tracks , plus 40+ riders in every group . Lucky to get 40 at a meeting now total 🙄
Julian. An absolute genleman and legend!! Could listen to him for day's!!!!
Please could you talk to the captain Mark Phillips British champion and were it not for his Donington accident I believe a wsb champion, avery underrated rider. Love your podcast
Good shout, Steven! Let’s see what we can do 😊
Bsb needs to change the tech so that it’s easier for the riders to move on with there careers I feel that bsb riders are trapped in the series 😢
BSB will never do that, William. The spec electronics were brought in to keep costs down as much as possible. If all of a sudden it was revoked and a return to open software like WorldSBK you’re immediately looking at huge wage bill just for a competent data engineer… it’s just the way it is. Progress for a rider is difficult but as Jules Ryder says, it’s not BSB’s remit to provide our next World Champion, they want the best British riders for their own show, naturally.
Hello Dave, what do you think to Eurosport going over to TNT sports, do you think it’s going to affect viewings figures massively. As I already pay £40 a month for Sky and Sky sports, I can’t afford another £30 for TNT on top of that.
Hi Dom, it’s a tricky one but my thoughts for now are this… It’s pertinent right now to wait for an announcement from BSB first. All that has been announced so far is that Eurosport content is moving to TNT, which is big news in itself but has been bubbling away in the background for ages but only just made public. There were plenty of races broadcast on Quest HD last year and I'd rather wait until BSB announce where the races will be shown rather than just assuming I have to pay £30 a month to watch the races (which I won't be doing, £30 for 11 rounds of BSB, eight of which I'll be at doesn't make sense and the WorldSBK World Feed is cheaper than TNT). I get people's frustration but nothing has been confirmed as to where BSB will be shown in addition to TNT, I'd like to think that with Quest extending their live coverage as it said in the initial BSB Press Release that it'll be shown there. I get that there are TNT subs who may watch BSB for the first time etc but I suspect they'll lose viewers if it's not free to air and the series can't afford for that to happen with gates not yet back to pre-covid it feels. It’s not guaranteed to go to Quest HD for a full season of rounds, it’s more in hope than expectation on my part. Speaking to friends who are closer to the situation than I am are as in the dark as we all are. Hopefully a realistic outcome is found 🤞🏼
Keep doing what you do, with some great guests and hopefully I can see you at the NW200
Thanks Keith, look forward to seeing you there 🫡
We’ll be there, make sure you say hi if you see us 😊 thanks Keith x
Great podcast. It's nice to find out a little more about the lovely Jennifer 😊 as well as what's in the pipeline. Keep'em coming.
Ah, thanks dude 😊 Always great to be invited on to the show x
Always remember going into Mick's garage in Middlestown. The his better workshop when he rode for Kawasaki,
I'm a big fan of Brad, i wish he'd been a bit more successful in WSBK. unfortunately it was not to be. It's great to see him back in the most competitive national championship in the world 🌎. Go Go Ray.
I watched the whole thing, albeit over a couple of sessions. Finished the first half at midnight, but only because I was up at 5 the next day for work. Jen and yourself are a great double act. You were asking about ideas for new guests. How about Dave Hewson? His involvement in motorcycling is total. I first met him as a gangly 17 year old when he was a Saturday lad at Italia Moto in Lincoln (His tea was horrible!). After his career at Ruston Gas Turbines, now Siemens, his passion for the TT and the development of Obsession Engineering. His role as an instructor at Rapid Training and his involvement with the BSB as crew chef for Marvel / Rapid Honda must have some entertaining stories. That, and his sense of humor, would prove 'interesting' I think. Anyway, keep up the good work and all the best for 2025.
Hi Steven, thanks so much for your message mate, much appreciated! Dave has recently been on CtR and it was a good show, I usually wait six month or more between a guest appearing on another podcast before I get them on mine to keep the variation as much as possible. He’ll certainly come on the show, I get on great with him and he’ll be a grand guest when the time come 🫡
Thankyou Steven 👌 We’re like Beavis and Butthead 😂😂
Nothing to do with this but I can''t afford to watch BSB live this season. I was watching Eurosport via Discovery Plus. TNT Sport is £30 plus per month. Not a good move for BSB. Times are getting harder and the gates will drop and TV viewings will be small. Not good for sponsors for the future.
Loved it, guys. See you at NW200.
Can’t wait! Thanks so much, Caroline 🙂
You sure will, let’s try and grab a brew or even better a pint this year 😊
we’ll be parked up in our usual spot at the finish line. Will probably be in the hospitality on Friday night as well.
Did this episode over 2 days at work. Such a great catch up. Dave’s favourite BSB round.. Oulton Park. I was wrong, I went with Cadwell with Jen 😂 love the banter with you and Jen, could watch you guys all day long 🤣
Thanks so much mate, hope you and the family are doing great 🙏🏼
Haha Can you imagine, a day in our lives would be boring/hilarious viewing 😂 Sending love to you and yours x
Brogan & Carl could potentially be a good one. Brogan will have a hire car story surly
Tells us to be careful with fake news. 1 minute later says 'when Michael rutter came out' 😂
😂😂 fair point
😂 There’s hidden messages everywhere 👀😂
Loving this !
Thanks so much, Michael!
Through the riders eyes, Rory skinner winning at knockhill 👍
I’ve listened to almost every episode and this by far has been my favourite great work yall!!!
Thank you so much, that really means a lot and glad you enjoyed it 🫡
It’s all about the stories mate 👍
And wherever we can it always will be 😉
I enjoy all of your pods mate, haven’t missed one since we first met at thruxton and have caught up with a few from before 😉👏
Always appreciated, Dave - your support is immense and we’re grateful for it 🫡
Looking forward to Hodgy. 👍 The mechanics, both we're fabulous, such a great watch and listen from the inner side. Keep doing what you are, cos you're certainly doing it very very well.
Thankyou so much, it’s a pleasure to be here 😊
Cheers Nodbod! Hodgy is all set up for next Wednesday at his place and he’s really looking forward to it 😉 And much appreciated on your kind words, thank you 😊
Sound, im looking forward too that podcast watch. 👍
Interesting one guys that MotoGP didn't do to well I guess that maybe it's the lack of british riders in the top class David Alonso was very good as is he . I really enjoyed that chat with Mark Lloyd who is a brit with an important roll in MotoGP . Gotta say on "THE" comment who the hell is going to want to talk to an interviewer who is ignorant churlish and slags them of 😉. Brilliant watch both as always and thankyou for doing what you do and answering my question perfectly 👌👍More of for sure !
Thankyou Mal, I may be biased but I think Dave’s approach to the riders is perfect. A laugh and a joke, plenty of reassurance and the best stories appear. Maybe some people like a very aggressive style but it would be the fastest way for us to quickly lose the trust of our guests. No guests… means you’ll get me every week instead and I’d need to do an awful lot of learning to do that 😂😂😂
Thanks so much, CM! Yeah shame about the MotoGP stuff but if we get the opportunity we’ll try again this year. Thanks for all you awesome support 🙏🏼
At 40.45 did you have to use Jens 40p for the metre. lol
I said something cheeky and Dave had to cut it out 😂😂
Thanks to both of you stars for keeping me entertained during my drive to Coventry and back. Jen ably showed her logical thought process (3 riders at Cadwell in her two man team, to give her the best possible results!) Thank you also for reading my questions out. Great answers given 👍 X
😂😂 I’m indecisive, I’d be a nightmare 😂
Joined Patreon now guys so financial worries over. Re training in my training days, I used to say unless you leave the gym with every item of clothing soaked with sweat, you’ve not done enough No don’t shorten the podcast - enjoyed it very much.
And I most definitely achieved that 😂 The journey home was just me, eating and being sweaty 😂
Really kind of you, thanks so much Chris 🙏🏼
Always enjoy to hear from you both as a pair and good to hear the varied questions and your responses. Be great to hear Jen's report and info from her Metabolix tests... Which test level did you have as Brad reached out to me to suggest getting tested but gotta be mindful of costs.. I"m sure I've shared details to you Dave of the Influencer store that do many 'infuencers' merchandise, online and they do the production and holding any stock...maybe also a potential further Uggly&Co collab...
I’ll send you the results Craig, I actually scored really well! Even Brad was surprised 😂
Not to distract from your great podcast but think Dave is prime to do a fan show at bsb like micheal Hill does at wsbk. He has a good knowledge and report with the riders.
I think so too and he’d jump at the opportunity if it arose!
Thanks David, who knows what the future holds 🙂
No guys you were wrong about the transatlantics. They were not champions - when it started neith Kenny Robert’s or Barry Sheene were world champions. The teams were made up of the best British riders versus the best Americans. In the early to mid 70s the Brits used to trounce them but then people like Steve Baker, Kenny Roberts and later on Randy Mamola started showing us how to do it! The only Brit rider in the late 70s who could reliably beat them was our Barry. The Brit teams I remember were Barry, Mick Grant, Barry Ditchburn, Dave Potter, Roger Marshall, John Newbold, Percy Tait and Ron Haslam. The Americans I remember were Dave Aldana, Robert’s, Baker, Gary Nixon and Dick Mann. It was the accepted thing to say that the Americans couldn’t ride in the rain. Then it rained…..! Surely Stuart Higgs could bring a few AMA riders over and pit them against BSB guys. It used to be a great weekend Brands, Mallory (ok perhaps not Mallory) and Oulton Park and could be again!
Chris, thanks so much for the info, much appreciated. My memory doesn’t go back quite that far so when I got into Transatlantic in the early 80s it did have the World Champions in it but I appreciate it didn’t when it started 🙂
I.O.M TT..!! Is a mesmerising place to ride at speed, racing it is something ealse. But whatever the reasons are that riders go to participate in such a challenging and dangerous event ? there they remain modern day gladiators- revered the world over.!!!💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Couldn’t agree more, Ian
Morning….just dropped in for 15 mins while I’m having a break at work….will sit down and enjoy the rest later 👍😉👌🇮🇲. My 2 man Team….Joey for the Roads, Toprak for the Tracks … 🇮🇲👍😉❤️. Ps thanks for the answers ….Jen…aww balls ….funny.👍🇮🇲🤣 PPs. I’m rooting for Leon and Storm in BSB this year….and I’m hoping Franco gets a decent ride in either Stock or Superbike…he’s still learning , shame that it went pear shaped at Rapid….another year might have brought the results they were all looking to achieve …🇮🇲👍
Always the first to admit that I’m wrong 😂
I pass Inch Perfect Trials on loads of my rides out, my friend broke down one day and Inch Perfect made brews and supplied the tools to fix the bike, they are top people. Never done trials but i have done a lot of trail riding. I must have a go one day. Another top podcast Dave and Jen.
I can’t wait to have the day there! I’ll be manning the Socials while Dave rides but I think it’ll be a launch a laugh. We’re very lucky to have them so close to us too 😊
They’re great people up there, Chris 🙂 and thanks for your kind words as always 🙏🏼
Sorry Dave and Jen, but I for one have completely lost interest in Moto GP as it has basically become the Spanish/ Italian championship. So the interviews you’ve done with people in that field are meaningless. Sadly looks as if WSB is heading that way too. I do really enjoy your chats though and am amazed you only have 8000 subscribers - you deserve many many more than that. Though it’s views that count for the cash I believe and hopefully the views are way more.
Our audience is definitely a BSB/Legends crowd and that’s great! If we do GP again it might be in a different way or different choices or we might decide to invest more in the travel to Legends etc
Thanks so much, Chris. Yeah it’s a tough one with no British interest in the top class (and likely another 4-5 years until we do, IF we do). We’ve a plan as far as MotoGP is concerned, and it doesn’t involve current riders… 😉
Thank you for answering! We started watching through family who love moterbikes in general! My 5 and 3 year old absolutely love bsb and can’t wait for this season to start, loved this episode, hoped will get to see You both at a round this year 😊
We’ll be at most of them so please say hello if you see us mooching about 😊
What are your thoughts that eurosport is now only gonna be available via TNT sports at £30.99 a month! So, BSB and WSBK will loose loads of viewers??
My thoughts are that it's pertinent to wait for an announcement from BSB first. All that has been announced so far is that Eurosport content is moving to TNT, which is big news in itself but has been bubbling away in the background for ages but only just made public. Always been a fan of Cooperman. A true allrounder.
Absolutely! He’s a class act both on and off the bike, Keith
@OffTrack_Podcast from what I've heard, Richard is quite an unassuming type of guy but has a determination about him that people the length of the paddock like and respect hugely. I can't remember who made the comment, I believe it was about 4 or 5 season ago when someone said about Richard. " he's hard not to like ".
@ that sounds like Whit comment, and he’s right. He’s a great fella to be around - very funny, proper family man, open and as you say the most determined bloke you could ever meet.
Toprak & simonchelli be a team
Wouldn’t it just!

Sure thing! offtrackhost@gmail.com Kind of you, Fred
Looking forward to this year 👍😜🇮🇲👌😉

@ManxAndy I just put 2 and 2 together 😁
Ps just signed up for Patreon….👍👌😉🇮🇲
@ManxAndy That’s really kind of you Andy, thanks so much 🙏🏼
I reckon Davey has a chance of making a fist of a world championship carreer, not quite sure which one but he's a class racer and I really think he's super marketable. Besides that, there should be more brits fighting for world championships.
That's a well stocked bar!
Great podcast. I live in Stoke Golding and Nigel is one of the local heroes. It's so good to hear the background to his career and the teams he worked with.
Can't wait guy's 😉👍
I'm looking forward to this one dropping.
Something a bit different, Peter - you’ll get to know me and Jen a bit better 🙂
So good
Thanks Jay! You’ve dug back into the archives for that one 😁
Thank you for this fabulous pod Dave. Pups' recollections were fab, brought back many memories. It's a cliche, but this man does need a repeat show 100%👍
Thanks a lot, Simon! We’ll be back with Pup at the end of the season 😊
I'm just back from a pre season meet up with some marshal, bowling in Nuneaton, got to bed at 2am, got home, lit the fire, put you on the tellybox, fully expecting to have a nap 😂 nota chance , watched all the way through 😂😂, loved it, the question about a race through a riders eye's, my answer would be any superbike rider at Thruxton last race, i didn't think that could be bettered till the last race at Brands, keep up the great work, see you at a test day😊
You’re an absolute diamond, Ian 😊 so glad you enjoyed the show, wasn’t sure if it was a bit too long as there were a fair few questions… definitely see you at at least one test day before the season begins
And i realise i've just annoyed Jen by making you reply at teatime😂😂 give her my apologies 😅
@ 😂😂 it’s Sunday, we’re not picking it up for another 20 mins 😉🇨🇳
I’d forgive you anything after all the support you give us Ian ❤
@@jenniferdawson5179 always a pleasure Jen x
Almost missed this one but wow just in awe ,"fantastic interview"👌👍
Thanks so much, CM. It gives me huge pleasure and no small amount of pride you’re trusting me to introduce you to the guys who are lesser known outside of the paddocks. I’ll always bring guests with stories and something to take away that you didn’t know before you sat down to watch. It’s hugely appreciated 🙂 now when watching the MotoGP coverage you can look out for both Matt and Mark 😊
