So just to add to this. I use to have235x35x12. I had to pump them to about34psi just to be able to turn easier because they flat tires. I just removed the front tire and installed a 140x70x12. Can't wait to try it out. Then I will do the back wheel.
Hey I got a 12x8 rim and Michelin tires is a 130/ 70 x 12 will this work on the rim? Just curious what is your tire that you used in this video on the 12 x 8 rim?
+Ben Suttles I used a 140/70-12 tire on a 12X8 wheel. I believe the 130/70-12 is a low profile tire, it doesn't have enough sidewall to stretch the tire on to the wheel.

I've worked only with 12" wheels. Never with 10". I looked at photos of the 10x7 and only could find 205 50 10 wheel and tire combos. After looking at the 130 90 10, it would be really hard trying to get the tire to stretch and seat. Not to say it can't be done. It would just be really hard.

First of all, you made that look easy. Secondly, I'm curious as to why you didn't use a 7 inch rim instead of the 8 to try and minimize the amount of rim protrusion? I'm thinking about doing my own Ruckus build and just trying to understand what I'm seeing in all these custom Ruckus videos.
after the wheel is mounted on the hub, the protrusion of it is not as much as you would think. also, when mounting the wheel, I'm not sure of the clearances. sometimes , as in my other build there was only about a 1/16" clearance from tire to oil filler orifice. the wider wheel allows the tire to flatten more when mounted giving the wheel more clearance.

I didn't have to calculate the dimensions. Depending on the profile that you're looking for, there's only a handful of tires to choose from. I went with a tire that I had already used before. There is another tire that has a lower profile, but it's a pain to seat it correctly.

Having tyres of incorrect size like this fitted to rims too wide for the tyre is a very dangerous practice. Even worse is the fact that so many scooters with these sort of tyre/rim combos have exposed rim edges at the side leading to situations where on damaged roads or road edges edges a person might suddenly be running on the rim edge not the tyre. It might look cool to those who have them but the tyre was not designed for safe use in this manner. The sidewalls do not have the damage resistance not rubber grip quality that is built over the normal tread area.The most common use of this I have seen is on the Ruckus and I admire the bike and the passion of those who ride and modify them, but better to convince manufacturers to design tyres for your need than force them this far out of intended design/use shape.
+Kassie Dreaneai well they don't make round profile tires 255mm wide. So we stretch them to fit. Find us some round profile, 225 55 10s and we will be happy to use them..lol

As I said earlier the scooters look good and a lot of time, money and effort goes into modifying them. But this particular tyre stretching modification will not be backed by the tyre dealer and gives any insurance company a reason to wipe any insurance claim in the event no matter how rare or unlikely you expect it might be of an accident. The sidewalls are thinner than the tread area and exposed to puncture risk and the exposed rim edges may make ground contact in the event of the tyre dropping off a flat surface like broken road edges or potholes. (we have some big ones here). Surely with so many people in a number of countries owning and modifying the Ruckus and I suspect a few clubs must exist, then some sort of tyre dealership contact should be made to get them to make tyres to meet your needs. Clubs could almost certainly collectively assure the manufacturers of a number of sales to justify making suitable tyres. (I have known of some manufacturers listening to clubs requests.) Anyhow.... happy rucking all.

Stanton Taylor use a couple of tire mounting tools from harbor freight. lots of soapy water. It's just like manually mounting a car tire.

I drilled and re-threaded the hub for larger studs and used M12x1.5 lug nuts.

The design for this ruckus came from several builders. I looked up his videos after you posted this, however I didn't use any ideas from his build.
