Fun fact about Takuya - Yagami's actor: He always supported Judgement getting PC Releases and argued with his studio to get it out there. He was essentially on our side
Too bad we won't get a 3 because yagami 's talent agency doesn't want RGG to use him anymore or so i read they couldn't reach a compromise to the pay or whatever
As far as I've heard, in the 2007 Ryu Ga Gotoku movie, Majima has the eyepatch on the wrong eye because the actor himself has issues seeing with his right eye, so he had to switch the eyepatch there.
Though late, Yakuza 5 has a missable dialogue option: When Haruka and Akiyama were discussing what to eat for dinner, Akiyama lists of a bunch of foods to eat, and Haruka then mentioms she wants to eat crab as she has never tried one. But if before this dialogue, as Haruka you eat at the crab restaurant, this part of the dialogue disappears.
If they plan on making "Like A Dragon Gaiden" a sub series of smaller scale games then I think it would be a great idea to adapt Ryujis story from RGGO into a Gaiden game
There's so much potential for a series that changes protagonist every entry. We could get a kuze game, a kazama game, a yuta game. The sky's the limit.
@@vboi5697 Tanimura was only referenced in yakuza 5 during the Amon fight, where they wonder where he is. Seems like he's still alive at least, because they conclude that he's probably playing mahjong
One detail you didn't mention that contribute to the "Rubber Bullet" meme is that not only Saejima was tricked by that but Arai also got tricked in the same way making believe he killed Munakata
Another hint that Kashiwagi is still alive is in 8 wherein Daigo's summon he (in Ichiban's imagination) uses his necromancy powers summon the spirits of Sohei Dojima, Osamu Kashiwagi, Shintaro Kazama and Futoshi Shimano who proceed to gun down the enemies. In this summon Kashiwagi's feet are the only ones unobscured by purple mist just like Daigo's and against Japanese myth that ghosts don't have feet.
9:42 I started playing yakuza games because of the bakamitai meme. One day I randomly installed the game because I liked the song so much. I didn't even know what the games were about. While playing 0, whenever I passed a kareoke bar, I just had to sing bakamitai or judgment. So basically I started playing the yakuza games because of the kareoke.
Same. I found myself listening to bakamitai pretty much daily a few months ago and knew very little about the games. I knew they were on gamepass so I decided to try out Yakuza 0. Now it's four months later and I've finished everything except the judgment games.

the yakuza 6 ghost pictures are gonna give me nightmares ffs especially the nishiki one. idk why but it seems i have a fucking intense phobia in regards to THAT. altough i am in love with paranormal im absolutely scared of it all, especially the photos and video tapes type of shit, thats just the worst for me and idk why.
Just like "syntax error" there's something called "hotel kamurocho" that even tho it's outside of the map and you can't even walk near it, you can clearly see it (it's around the theatre alley, I think it's called that), it appeared from Yakuza 3 up till lost judgement
Something tells me that Kiryu’s parents, who were killed by Kazama, are deep within the Seiryu Clan. Think about it, Kiryu is born in Yokohama, making one of his parents, likely the father, a yakuza of the Seiryu. Probably something related to Arakawa to an extent. What do you guys think?
I know it's a bit late, but i have a few extra bits for the iceberg: -Takaya Kuroda & Goodfellas: Takaya Kuroda, Kiryu's VA has a rock band called "Takaya Kuroda & Goodfellas". There's even live recordings of him singing Yakuza Songs. And now that i'm talking about Takaya Kuroda -Kuroda's past in yaoi: Kuroda started in the dubbing business making yaoi (for the people that doesn't know gay-themed) drama cds. There's even an OVA called Finder which he voices a yakuza called Ryuichi Asami. This is referenced in a submission in Yakuza Kiwami 2 -Ryuka: in "Hyperdevotion Noire" an Spin-off of the Neptunia Series there's a character called Ryuka which is a parody of the Yakuza Series. Her costume uses the same colors as Kiryu, her Exe-Drive involves hitting with baseball bats or throwing bicycles to the enemies and there's even a CG with her as a Hostess
Don't get me wrong, I can't fault someone for misremembering something as inconsequential as the name of side missions in Yakuza games but did you REALLY need to misremember it as submission specifically while talking about yaoi?
That upscaled butcher's knife actually exists in real life and is actually used for cutting up bluefin tuna (maguro), which aren't small to begin with. Also, RUBBER BOOLITS. As for Ichiro Tanaka, "the leather club is two blocks down..."
Inspiring content! From one yakuza fan to another, I gotta tell you how much I look up to you as a creator (and as a representative of the fandom). These type of videos take a huge amount of time and effort, so don't worry about how long it took, I promise you nobody judges you as harshly as you do yourself. I have a couple of ideas that I'd like to make but they can sometimes take months to actually materialize, so I understand what you mean completely during the break segment. Keep doing what you do, Leon, your fans will always tune in and help your videos reach a broader audience, regardless of how long it takes you to upload. Can't wait for LaD:Ishin to come out so we can see you talk about that game in the near future!
Have yet to finish watching but congrats on completing this video project 🥳 1:41:00 I highly suspect this lady is supposed to be a reference to a Japanese Yokai called the Yuki-onna. Particularly, of the "water beggar variation". I say this because you give her hot food (oden) for the substory, the setting of Yakuza Zero is in December 1988 (so during winter) and she somewhat fits Yuki-onna description just slightly modernized to fit the era (she's wearing a white sparkly bodycon dress). I suspect she was draining the Gandhara clerk's vitality but when she was given oden she was "not cold anymore" and so the guy recovered.
Ichiban's "Schizophenia" is literally his wild imagination mixed with his childhood addiction with Dragon Quest, he literally says that a lot of times in LAD but some people like to do those massive reaches about video game logic lmao
there's the forget me not substory, which i think REALLY adds onto the schizophrenia theory. It probably is the overactive imagination though, but it's still kinda weird
Ichiban has something called a fantasy prone personality according to a psychoanalysis of the character I've seen. He doesn't qualify for schizophrenia (due to not having enough symptoms)
The Shizo thing is probably only applied to Ichiban in particular because of one scene early in the game, when he freaks out about how some enemy "transformed" at the start of battle, and everyone else in the party wonders wtf he is talking about. He is canonically seeing this, and he's the only one who's seeing it.
As a semi-new Yakuza fan (started with 0 a little over 2 years ago), videos like this are always a super fun AND entertaining watch, so thank you for putting in all this effort! Keep doing what you do.
This is amazing. I was Kiryu for Halloween and the entire night was me explaining the series and just telling people to play/watch the game. Now i can just share this video. ❤
I haven't watched it all, but I hope he mentions the crazy amount of product placement. Many of the restaurants and food items are known, though few of them skirt by because they're Japanese brands, so fans might not know they exist IRL. When you go to a bar, the drinks are all real bottles of stuff you can buy, and the bartender even describes the drink to you for several sentences. (Very subtle, RGG.) Several Pepsi products are shown in some games, including Mine drinking from a Gatorade water bottle in Y3 (removed in the Remaster) Less known is that some character's clothing is product placement too, notably Akiyma's watch in 5 & Saejima's green parka in every release after Y5 is a brand name. Even billboards & stores in the streets that you can't enter, some of them are real businesses.
im probably late but he mentioned the gatorade bottle, apparently it mightve been an advertisement for the brand or something but didnt have the rights during the remaster
@@harambae117 What, the Quiz Master? Or are you talking about Michiru? It was actually removed on Nagoshi's own request (apparently because he's changed his stance on trans topics due to his close friend transitioning. Idk what a drag queen/okama has to do with trans people, but I don't call the shots). Honestly yeah, the substory is actually pretty harmless. A pretty fun jump away from the main story. Goofy and brief.
Thank you for making this. Yakuza saved me in 2016 when I was hella deep into a depression abyss. I played 0,1,2,6 all in a row after seeing the heartfelt review EyepatchWolf made.
Just because this video exists I am already very grateful, thank you very much for making this video, it will be an adventure to watch it until the last second
Watched it all in one go. Didn't mean to, actually, but I couldn't get myself to stop and continue watching later :D Although I at least briefly heard about majority of this stuff, I really enjoyed revisiting it and of course learning something new. I also have a couple of things to add from myself: 1) In Takashi Miike's Yakuza movie there's one cop that's being portrayed by Show Aikawa, who later became a likeness model and a voice actor for Takasugi in Yakuza 5. Also Kurohyo TV series features Hideo Nakano (Shibusawa) on some role. 2) About Hiroyuki Miyasako (Nagumo) participating in real-life yakuza hosted party. Among other comedians who were involved in it there also was Yoshinari Fukushima, a likeness model for Kamurocho's Mr. Moneybags in Yakuza 0. 3) This one is regarding a certain Haruka's substory In Yakuza 5, where she auditions for a collaboration with Watami restaurant chain. First, both of Watami executives in this substory have likeness and names of respective real-life executives from this company (along with Sushi Zanmai and Kushikatsu Daruma presidents in Y5 and Ikinari Steak president in Judgment). Second, real-life Watami actually had a collaboration with RGG at that time, with Haruka appearing on many of their promo posters and stuff. Third (and this is pretty grim), Watami is notorious for its labor conditions. Their president said to have been constantly pushing the employees to overwork even if they die. One particular case involved a personal letter to one worker with a suggestion to consider suicide. Unfortunately, at least one of their employees took their own life because of it. Google "watami black company", if you want to read more about this shit. With that being said, thank you very much for the video! I've been occasionally checking your channel waiting for its release for quite a while, and it's been a treat to finally watch it. You've put an immense work into it, and I'm delighted to see that Yakuza community has such passionate and dedicated content creators. Keep up the great work!
In live action Kurohyou, Nakano plays Takenaka, the cop who initially apprehended and then looked after Tatsuya, and then later helped uncover the truth behind Tatsuya's involvement in Dragon Heat.
Great video. Also, for Yakuza: Like a Dragon, I believe there's a Sleeping Dogs reference only in the English dub. It's when Kasuga confronts Tendo in the Millennium Tower about the recording, saying how Ryo Aoki "couldn't let sleeping dogs lie." Aoki's English VA is Will Yun Lee, who's well known for voicing Wei Shen, the protagonist of Sleeping Dogs.
I mentioned this on someone else's yakuza iceberg but in no more heros 3, Miike is mentioned and makes a cameo. What's interesting is Travis and Bishop mention the yakuza movie, and in Persona 5 Strikers, Makoto mentions a movie called like a yakuza. (Also persona and yakuza share names and a yakuza costume pack is in persona 5 dancing, and morgana and kiryu are playable in monkey ball hd) I joked saying that yakuza is a movie in the persona and nmh franchise and said nmh and persona sharing a universe would be insane.
Great video! Can't imagine the effort you've put into this. For the Yakuza 6 Alpha demo tho, I'm pretty sure it wasn't just a Japan exclusive. It was available in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan at least and they even have proper Chinese translation for the demo.
The online literally has so many answers to cliffhangers from the game it's a shame it never got an english translation for western fans. There is a channel called Hisanas I think, which posted a couple chapters translated. It literally has the answers to if Nishiki did or not order Reina's death, what happened to the scammy-scum doctor from Kiwami, LITERALLY the whole Ryuji campaign etc etc.
I'm only just getting into Yakuza, and this video really opened my eyes of all this series has to offer. The intermission but also made my day, few UA-camrs are as real as you are.
It’s funny how if you get caught with drugs in Japan(even if it’s not actually drugs)you’re the worst evil person ever over there But if you get caught with actual CP, “Ehhh slap on the wrist, 6 months, you get to keep your career.”
The fact that so many people started playing Yakuza because of the Dame Da Ne meme hilarious. I'm one of them as well lol. The series quickly became my favorite EVER. We are lucky to have talented and gigachad creators such as Froob, Snowiest Angeman, CyricZ and of course the yakuzaguy7 himself.
Straight up the Baka Mitai meme is how I got into the series back in 2020, played every English game except Dead Souls (no ps3 or PC to emulate), even the ps2 games. It's probably my favorite franchise now
Amazing video, watched it from beginning to end! For the record, I would watch the crap out of an RGGO lore video that covers the story. I've been playing it a lot and while I enjoy it purely on the meme factor of making the wackiest teams, I've always been interested in what the plot was actually about and who all the new characters are.
revisited this video and there's something i can't believe i hadn't thought of sooner regarding richardson's unique way of speaking (especially the "ruff!") the way he pronounces certain things reminds me a little of what you might hear in some parts of the american midwest--if you've met someone from, say, wisconsin or minnesota, for example, you might hear them pronounce "roof" the very same way richardson does granted, richardson is voiced by charles glover, who was apparently born in new mexico (southwestern US). and i honestly know less about new mexico/southwestern US accents than i do about others... maybe others who are from the region/know people from the region can give their input here?
56:30 Now that u mention it, that happens a lot. It's like a requirement for a RGG protag to get scapegoated. The only guy I know that doesn't fit that was Tanimura
Daigo's voice acting by Satoshi Tokushige kind of became a meme among Japanese fans, because of how laughably poor it was back in his early days (especially in 2 and end battle in 4). It's understandable because Mr. Tokushige isn't a proper voice actor but more of a movie/TV star, and his VA skill got tremendously improved in later entries.
I must say, your videos have improved dramatically in term of quality and presentation over the years. Been following your work ever since I fell into the hole with Y0, and I can't get enough. Your work is definitely appreicated. Take care!
I think why komaki changed his name was because of that other school that is in sotenbori that appear in substories in Yakuza 2, forgot their name but they were rivals with the komaki school
I have been watching this channel for a few years now and just realised I was never subbed????? I am truly sorry but yay finally the iceberg video has been DROPPED!
Hey, nice video! Here are some things I think would be worth mentioning: - Kazuma Kiryu skin in Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise (the reason I bought the game). - Zhao from Yakuza 7 making an appearance in Lost Judgment. - Nagoshi has his own card in Yakuza Online. - Nugget, the Chicken from Yakuza 0 travels through time and you can interact with him inside Kenshiro's hideout in Fist of the North Star. - Streets of Kamurocho, the old school Streets of Rage-type game. - Kiryu in Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania. - Kiryu in the upcoming Capcom vs Sega 2 game.
I think a fun topic would've been "Nagoshi's research," talking about how during the development of Yakuza 1 Nagoshi and his team spent a lot of time out on the town at night in order to "research the nightlife"
Amazing video, Leon! I was so happy to see this video in my notifications. Thank you for all the effort and time you put into this. I learned so much from it.
Amazing video! I think after this you should start making Yakuza game theory-style videos. I’m sure there’s a lot of awesome fan theories you could cover, even if theyre pretty bad conspiracies.
I downloaded the Yakuza 6 demo back then and played the game start to finish by turning off my PS4's internet connection, with seemingly no restrictions on what I could do.
25:01 You called it! I mean it's not Crews, but I'd say he and Danny Trejo are about the same status by celebrity standards. Also, I'd be stoked if Crews were also in it. Those two need to do something together, and RGG kinda makes sense for that project lol
amazing vid. if there's one thing i could've suggested in the brain storming section (i was too late) it'd be the possibility that heat is an actual observable phenomenon in the yakuza series as different characters comment on how they can see or feel the power emanating off of certain protagonists
Yeah heat is alluded to or straight up mentioned in certain side content and substories, specifically in the Kiwamis and Judgment games Tangentially related, it’s why I think Devilleon’s opinion of tying in all the action combat protagonists into the Ichiban schizophrenia/imagination stuff at 1:15:10 is ridiculous, because while Saejima’s heat earthquake punch or Majima’s shadow clones are superhumanly unrealistic, THIS IS THE SAME SERIES where major characters like Kiryu, Saejima and Majima all punch through marble/concrete and fight other people who do similar, dodge bullets in QTEs/dynamic intros, and straight up fight giant unnatural animals or mystical godly figures like, for example, the Amon Clan lol Heat being a real thing in a franchise where supernatural beings like ghosts and probably aliens exist, just seems quite likely LMAO
@@DeanRGG Definitely it but as for ichiban's hallucinations, the only thing he imagines are the appearance of bosses, direct aftermath of kiryu fight and to an extent, the heat actions he and his allies perform. Like they still performed those heat actions but ichiban exaggerated them by putting them in another place or something.
@@angelusvastator1297 I believe you’re correct or at least I’d like that to all be the case But SOME of those heat actions just can’t be happening LOL like the real heat actions must be so far removed from Ichiban’s imagination, such as the Idol or Construction or most of all the Chef heat actions haha
Watched the entire vid within a couple of days, incredibly informative and entertaining. Amazing job, Leon! Thank you for your efforts, would be happy to see more similar content in the future.
Amazing video definitely worth the wait *Judgment spoilers *Also the part about how Kuroiwa wasn't the one removing the eyes was something I never noticed. It makes you realize that he was the hero all along as he was trying to kill Shono
New to Yakuza but I remember when I first started working for Gamestop I would eye the game cases and yearn for the opportunity to play this series. I now have all the consoles but at that time I was only on xbox. This is one of my favorite icebergs ever. I went out and bought fist of the north star today because of you
Awesome work man! I appreciate the effort that goes into longer videos like this and was surprised at how much stuff I still didn’t actually know about Yakuza.
I think Ichiro Tanaka is secretly Hangman or Red Man since that’d explain why he pops up in the coliseum in YK2, Also incredible video u did a fantastic job 👍🏿
Thank you for doing this for making us know more hidden facts of Yakuza, Leon! there's also a thing that's probably more well known in Taiwan community : one of the hostess in Yakuza 6, Sora, is from Taiwan, and one of her dialogue is asking Kiryu what his impression is to the country Taiwan, it isn't merely the chinese subbed but also what the original voice clip implies. This triggers the China player and later on SEGA fixed both the chinese sub and voice clip of this in Y6 update. I did found a video discussing this : ua-cam.com/video/5VevkOsXRfU/v-deo.html&ab_channel=CensoredGaming
Great video! It is amazing how many interesting stuff is in these games. However, I am surprised you didn't mention anything about the heat aura being real, not only as a gameplay feature, since several people throughout the entire series acknowledge its existence.
@@Mountain_Chicken1 Well the first one that comes to my mind is the one in Kiwami 2, in the homeless shelter (if i remember correctly) there is a guy who teaches you moves, his name is Cyclops Oba and he mentions that you shouldn't use the "blue flame moves" when training with him.
Fantastic stuff, a pleasure to watch through and through. As a thank you, I give you my "Kuroiwa killed Tanimura" theory: Near the beginning of chapter 12 in Judgment, Ayabe describes to Yagami a story he's heard. The story is a reference to the ending of Yakuza 4, and considering the context and the way it is presented, it seems like the writers wanted the player to suspect that Kuroiwa might have killed Tanimura.
saw the first time you mentioned this on one of your streams and im glad this video is finally here your a true legend for making this video! and thank you
I came across your channel about four years ago. Watched some gameplay of the Yakuza series and when it came out on Xbox one. I’ve played Yakuza 0-Like A Dragon. All these years later thanks to this iceberg video, I finally decided to subscribe to your channel. I love watching the original games back on the PS2 and PS3
The Syntax Error bar is also interesting because the sign is slightly different with each appearance, meaning they aren't just reusing an asset, but they're going out of their way to recreate and include it every time. Maybe they are planning on doing something big with this location in a future game. And once they do we'll all be like "Holy shit this has been right under our noses the entire time!"
What a great video One of the few long style videos I watched in its entirety Me, a self-proclaimed fan who 'knows everything about yakuza", was actually shocked by some facts like nagoshi being in the kurohyou tv series ( and there being a series in general lol) Keep going balls out, I love your vids!
Can’t wait to see Devilleon do more analytical videos like this in the future! These are rightfully his best videos easily As a fellow self-proclaimed “Surely I must know everything by now” fan, learning Nagoshi was in the TV adaptation AND that it had 2 seasons was quite a surprise! I wish it was easily available to watch, other comments here pointed out that even Shibusawa’s actor was in the show! I assume that predates Yakuza 0 by a few years
If people want to play with the original (and far superior) faces and voices of the replaced actors in Yak 4 (Tanimura) and Judgment (Hamura) you can install restoration mods for both of those games if youre playing on pc. For Judgment I also recommend installing the "faster style switch" mod for faster combat and more combo options.
Amazing video Mr. Leon, congratulations! And btw, Dead Souls i set on a alternate timeline where Ryuji survived his wounds, but lost part of his right arm due to blood loss, and than he kept laying low for the next couple years due to being chased by the Omi until the events of Dead Souls. Probably someone explained this on the comment section, but this is it. Oh, and sorry for any possible grammar errors
Very nice iceberg! Happy You included the part about Kuroiwa not gouging out the eyes, feels like a lot of people missed that part and it really paints Shono in even worse light~

I knew this comment would be here 🎉
The idea of a sunflower orphanage mini-triad comprised of angry 12 year olds is honestly substory material
I would love to see Tanimura's story get a proper conclusion, and learn why he wasn't in Y5 and Y6 from an in-universe perspective.
@@vboi5697 Tanimura was only referenced in yakuza 5 during the Amon fight, where they wonder where he is. Seems like he's still alive at least, because they conclude that he's probably playing mahjong

I think the twist on it's own isn't bad, it's the fact that it's so heavily used that makes the rubber bullets worse.

I know it's a bit late, but i have a few extra bits for the iceberg:
-Takaya Kuroda & Goodfellas: Takaya Kuroda, Kiryu's VA has a rock band called "Takaya Kuroda & Goodfellas". There's even live recordings of him singing Yakuza Songs. And now that i'm talking about Takaya Kuroda
-Kuroda's past in yaoi: Kuroda started in the dubbing business making yaoi (for the people that doesn't know gay-themed) drama cds. There's even an OVA called Finder which he voices a yakuza called Ryuichi Asami. This is referenced in a submission in Yakuza Kiwami 2
-Ryuka: in "Hyperdevotion Noire" an Spin-off of the Neptunia Series there's a character called Ryuka which is a parody of the Yakuza Series.

1:41:00 I highly suspect this lady is supposed to be a reference to a Japanese Yokai called the Yuki-onna.

Did you sugarcoat it?
I haven't watched it all, but I hope he mentions the crazy amount of product placement.
Many of the restaurants and food items are known, though few of them skirt by because they're Japanese brands, so fans might not know they exist IRL. When you go to a bar, the drinks are all real bottles of stuff you can buy, and the bartender even describes the drink to you for several sentences. (Very subtle, RGG.) Several Pepsi products are shown in some games, including Mine drinking from a Gatorade water bottle in Y3 (removed in the Remaster)
Less known is that some character's clothing is product placement too, notably Akiyma's watch in 5 & Saejima's green parka in every release after Y5 is a brand name. Even billboards & stores in the streets that you can't enter, some of them are real businesses.
im probably late but he mentioned the gatorade bottle, apparently it mightve been an advertisement for the brand or something but didnt have the rights during the remaster

Thank you!
Watched it all in one go. Didn't mean to, actually, but I couldn't get myself to stop and continue watching later :D
Although I at least briefly heard about majority of this stuff, I really enjoyed revisiting it and of course learning something new.
I also have a couple of things to add from myself:
1) In Takashi Miike's Yakuza movie there's one cop that's being portrayed by Show Aikawa, who later became a likeness model and a voice actor for Takasugi in Yakuza 5.
(Also persona and yakuza share names and a yakuza costume pack is in persona 5 dancing, and morgana and kiryu are playable in monkey ball hd)
I joked saying that yakuza is a movie in the persona and nmh franchise and said nmh and persona sharing a universe would be insane.
Great video! Can't imagine the effort you've put into this. For the Yakuza 6 Alpha demo tho, I'm pretty sure it wasn't just a Japan exclusive. It was available in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan at least and they even have proper Chinese translation for the demo.
Thank you for the correction!
Leon diving deep into that Yakuza lore. I love it.
This is gonna be good
The online literally has so many answers to cliffhangers from the game it's a shame it never got an english translation for western fans.
It’s funny how if you get caught with drugs in Japan(even if it’s not actually drugs)you’re the worst evil person ever over there
But if you get caught with actual CP, “Ehhh slap on the wrist, 6 months, you get to keep your career.”
It's probably my favorite franchise now
Great video! This was very well made. Would love to see more videos like it
Amazing video, watched it from beginning to end! For the record, I would watch the crap out of an RGGO lore video that covers the story. I've been playing it a lot and while I enjoy it purely on the meme factor of making the wackiest teams, I've always been interested in what the plot was actually about and who all the new characters are.
revisited this video and there's something i can't believe i hadn't thought of sooner regarding richardson's unique way of speaking (especially the "ruff!")
the way he pronounces certain things reminds me a little of what you might hear in some parts of the american midwest--if you've met someone from, say, wisconsin or minnesota, for example, you might hear them pronounce "roof" the very same way richardson does
granted, richardson is voiced by charles glover, who was apparently born in new mexico (southwestern US). and i honestly know less about new mexico/southwestern US accents than i do about others... maybe others who are from the region/know people from the region can give their input here?
56:30 Now that u mention it, that happens a lot. It's like a requirement for a RGG protag to get scapegoated. The only guy I know that doesn't fit that was Tanimura
Man, can't wait for the update to this video since IW wraps up so many of the things you mention.
This is incredible dude, thank you so much for this, you are the best.
32:24 Fun fact for all my Kamen Rider fans out there, Shōnan no Kaze also did the opening themes for Kamen Rider Gaim and Kamen Rider Geats.
Take care!
Thank you so much, Yuro!
Here are some things I think would be worth mentioning:
- Kazuma Kiryu skin in Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise (the reason I bought the game).
Good job for making this video, I do hope yakuza series will have a long live and many more players will come to the series.
Great video, I'm still in awe that such a dig bick OG such as yourself missed out on the kenzan and ishin amon fights
Holy shit this video is a treat to watch and the editing style is amazing
Amazing video! I think after this you should start making Yakuza game theory-style videos. I’m sure there’s a lot of awesome fan theories you could cover, even if theyre pretty bad conspiracies.
Will consider it!
@@devilleon7 awesome! A good one I’ve heard around is that Nishiki is actually Kashiwagi’s son, probably not true but interesting nonetheless.
I downloaded the Yakuza 6 demo back then and played the game start to finish by turning off my PS4's internet connection, with seemingly no restrictions on what I could do.
Thats pretty hilarious.
Yeah heat is alluded to or straight up mentioned in certain side content and substories, specifically in the Kiwamis and Judgment games
Tangentially related, it’s why I think Devilleon’s opinion of tying in all the action combat protagonists into the Ichiban schizophrenia/imagination stuff at 1:15:10 is ridiculous, because while Saejima’s heat earthquake punch or Majima’s shadow clones are superhumanly unrealistic,
THIS IS THE SAME SERIES where major characters like Kiryu, Saejima and Majima all punch through marble/concrete and fight other people who do similar, dodge bullets in QTEs/dynamic intros, and straight up fight giant unnatural animals or mystical godly figures like, for example, the Amon Clan lol
Heat being a real thing in a franchise where supernatural beings like ghosts and probably aliens exist, just seems quite likely LMAO
@@angelusvastator1297 I believe you’re correct or at least I’d like that to all be the case
But SOME of those heat actions just can’t be happening LOL like the real heat actions must be so far removed from Ichiban’s imagination, such as the Idol or Construction or most of all the Chef heat actions haha
1:09:06 I'd trust Leon to watch my back. What a big bro UA-camr. Love you dude!
man the wait is finally over
I would like to congratulate you on finishing one of the Biggest projects so far
Worked on this while streaming all the time. Actual legend Mr. Leon7 keep up the great content
Also great narration made it better
Watched the entire vid within a couple of days, incredibly informative and entertaining. Amazing job, Leon! Thank you for your efforts, would be happy to see more similar content in the future.
Amazing video definitely worth the wait
*Judgment spoilers *Also the part about how Kuroiwa wasn't the one removing the eyes was something I never noticed. It makes you realize that he was the hero all along as he was trying to kill Shono
YYYYYYOOOOOOOOO FINALLY! I asked so many times for it and its finally here ty so much for your work! :D
Hell yeah! The main Iceberg I've been waiting for!
New to Yakuza but I remember when I first started working for Gamestop I would eye the game cases and yearn for the opportunity to play this series. I now have all the consoles but at that time I was only on xbox. This is one of my favorite icebergs ever. I went out and bought fist of the north star today because of you
Thank you so much! I hope you enjoy FOTNS
Thank you so much for making this. Learned a lot about this fantastic series!
This was well presented and despite it being over two hours, it didn't drag. Great work man! 👍🏾
I am so Happy right now! Great Job!!
Could you give examples?
@@Mountain_Chicken1 Well the first one that comes to my mind is the one in Kiwami 2, in the homeless shelter (if i remember correctly) there is a guy who teaches you moves, his name is Cyclops Oba and he mentions that you shouldn't use the
"blue flame moves" when training with him.
Fantastic stuff, a pleasure to watch through and through. As a thank you, I give you my "Kuroiwa killed Tanimura" theory: Near the beginning of chapter 12 in Judgment, Ayabe describes to Yagami a story he's heard. The story is a reference to the ending of Yakuza 4, and considering the context and the way it is presented, it seems like the writers wanted the player to suspect that Kuroiwa might have killed Tanimura.
oh hell nawww 😭😭😭
I'm glad that I'm not the only one who noticed this.
saw the first time you mentioned this on one of your streams and im glad this video is finally here your a true legend for making this video!
and thank you
I came across your channel about four years ago. Watched some gameplay of the Yakuza series and when it came out on Xbox one. I’ve played Yakuza 0-Like A Dragon. All these years later thanks to this iceberg video, I finally decided to subscribe to your channel.
I love watching the original games back on the PS2 and PS3
Finally!! Been waitin for months for this!
Can say I'm really satisfied!! Great job Kyodai!
Awesome! So worth the wait! You the man!
10 years in this video made it actually pretty awesome, keep up the good work leon
Was waiting for this, thanks so much man :D
This’ll slap as hard as Shinada’s debt
Whooohoooo, it's here! So glad I get to sit and enjoy this. I'm getting food ready. This is a movie experience.
Good job sir! This was my first iceberg. This was so good
You're a real one for this, would definitley love to see you do more edited videos like this, much love 🙏
Thank you! I will try to bring more
In terms of gaining popularity I think I huge one that was not mentioned was also the amount of yakuza games on Game Pass
Freaking incredible youve outdone yourself leon. I watched another iceberg on Yakuza and you by far did alot better more detailed and the love shows.
Holy shit, you actually did it!
As an another iceberg fan myself, this some good shit.
My memory could be bad but I’m pretty sure I remember the hangman being in one of the fight rings somewhere between 0-kiwami 2
What a great video
One of the few long style videos I watched in its entirety
Me, a self-proclaimed fan who 'knows everything about yakuza", was actually shocked by some facts like nagoshi being in the kurohyou tv series ( and there being a series in general lol)
Keep going balls out, I love your vids!
Can’t wait to see Devilleon do more analytical videos like this in the future! These are rightfully his best videos easily
As a fellow self-proclaimed “Surely I must know everything by now” fan, learning Nagoshi was in the TV adaptation AND that it had 2 seasons was quite a surprise!
YakuzerMan coming to us with a banger. Great job Leon
Holy hell! Finally! Great seeing this in action after alot of teases on stream. This is one worthy wait!
Such a great vid, love to see the series getting great content like this.
Only got to the "Dead Souls Happened" topic now 💀
Very nice iceberg! Happy You included the part about Kuroiwa not gouging out the eyes, feels like a lot of people missed that part and it really paints Shono in even worse light~
