The fact that he does not SPRINT through it is brilliant (and rare) in and of itself.
After all, it's about pleasing the listener with the beauty of the music rather than showing off what a brilliant technician the performer is.
    He clearly gets it.
    Very, very, very nice.

An inspirational performance! Bach is my favourite composer, and as a budding classical guitarist with hopes of one day being able to bring his beautiful music to life on my instrument, it’s performances like this that inspire me to pick up my guitar and practice! Bravo, well done.

Interesting to watch this performance, with different fingerings than I've seen before. That is encouraging that there are a number of ways to tackle this work.

Great to hear a performance of this prelude which actually has a preludial quality, and some sense of it as a lute piece rather than the standard toccata-like Heifetz-inspired approach.

man, i would do anything to have the sound of these arppegios (0:40) on my violin, arguably is one of the things guitar does better than the violin, such a beautiful interpretation!

Does anyone know what type of strings he is using? The treble strings seem thick compared to normal CG strings. You can get a good view of them at 2:56. They don’t sound thin/plastic when compared got he bass strings as CG strings often do.

Nice performance, solid sound. One thing aside from musical realm (at least off the performance): you have tree microphones there and the sound is quite "thin". Dont know who did it, but it could value your thumb sound lot more, take out some mid range frequency, around 2k ~6k hz, there a lot of unwanted sounds there.
    Best regards!

    • @NeverTalkToCops1
      @NeverTalkToCops1 4 роки тому +1

The sound is not thin, not thin at all. Nothing to do with how many microphones he's using.

    • @jaguizinho

@@NeverTalkToCops1 Its not about how many mics he's using, its about what to do in the post production with them.

Once and for all, technical execution and impassioned performance are not mutually exclusive! Nor is it necessary to rubato the ever-loving-snot out of a piece (especially a Baroque piece) to make it expressive. This performer provides many forms of expression appropriate to the music, but they require more careful attention to appreciate. Failure to listen carefully is not the fault of the performer, but of the listener.
However, if I could offer one constructive note, it would be to rethink the approach to using slurs throughout the work. In many cases, the slur (applied coincidentally, as a result of the specific arrangement) inadvertently highlights a weak beat or subdivision within a beat and/or diminishes what should be a stronger rhythmic event. This frequently leads to an unclear and sometimes un-musical phrase. One solution is to eliminate slur altogether; Another is replacing some of the slurs with RH articulations and vice-versa; In many cases, though, it is necessary to completely re-finger entire passages to make possible a more thematic application of slurs to highlight strong beats and diminish the weak. (For example, in a sequence, the exposition of the material uses slurs to highlight the underlying rhythmic structure, and then the sequenced phrase carries slurs in the same relative position in each iteration.)

    Technically brilliant. Emotionally flat.
I think he need to switch between ponticello and dolche a bit, certainly on the arpeggiated passages which can lend to needing a lovely sul tasto effect.
He is very good but not enjoyable to listen to.
