You should make that green guard so it can lay down until you go to use the winch. Great recovery video, Layton crew.
I hope he didn’t have any dogs in the back when it happened. That must have been scary. I can’t believe that other customers relative called the police saying you stole the vehicle. You should make the video! Great views I bet. 😂👍🏻🇬🇧Go on Robby. 🤫😂
Maverik needs to become a sponsor for you and Matt's channels! :D
2 sets of hevy duty tire chains work wonders on ice. Seems that nobody knows how to use them anymore.
I am surprised you do not pack chains on your rigs when winter hits.
I know that would be my go to in those situations.
You should make the grate removable or fold down so you don't get sick when driving .
Nice job guys.
One truck they thought you stolen the truck what next you scratch the paint on this truck you should tell customer their a chance with any recovery may damage could happen
This was too easy of a recovery for you guys 😂
I love these videos
Great recovery guys! Hillbilly, got to say how beautiful your teeth turned out. Crazy how nice teeth can improve your self esteem and health! Thank you so much Robbie for making that happen for Hillbilly. You’ll forever be my hero for doing that. 🌺
I hope the dogs are OK that we're in the back of that Ranger?
You need some screw in studs for the skid steer's tracks. They're like studs for tires with carbide tips, but they use them for snow mobiles and earth moving tires to get traction on ice and snow. Measure the lugs on the tracks and get the size that matches.
Yes some Bestgrip's, maybe 1500 model number. On tracks it doesn't take many studs for effect, as long as there's some in ground contact at all time it has a big effect.
Glad that worked out for you guys. Looked like it went about as easy as it could have with the where it was located. Mostly glad no one was hurt.
Mostly ?
Very nice! That ice was stupid scary. Great recovery, hope the kiddo's get to feeling better. Thank you so much for sharing
Hey Hillbilly talk Robbie into modifying that grate on the front of the skid steer winch to make it fold down out of your site. Then swing back up once you're on the job. I know you guys got a million and one projects going on but that might help.Great video as usual.
Great recovery guys....narration by Bobby prime !!..... very informative !! Thanks guys and HAPPY NEW YEAR to all !
What a Great year with Robbie and crew.Thank you All for your hard works and the fun times too. Happy New Year to everyone !
You guys are hilarious! I enjoy your content. Between you, Matt (Matt's Offroad Recovery)and Paul (Fabrats) you guys make me want to move to Utah!
Yay I'm happy you're finally out again doing a recovery thanks Rob
I think it's worth it to get screw in studs for tires and put bunch of them in the skid steer tracks. Would probably help in ice like that. You can get ones for trucks that are bigger and stronger than for regular cars
Awesome Job once again you and your Team are Great at what you do !!! Keep up the Awesome work Love the Channel!!!!
The Layton team to the rescue! And as usual, you guys pulled it off with style and success! Sometimes it's easy to forget you folks do have a wrecker and recovery service as well as the body shop work, and it's fun to see those recoveries also!
'Cat' Dogs ? I can see how the guy accused you of stealing
that magnificent truck off of the side of a mountain. It was
after all, an extremely valuable piece of equipment. Nooooo wait.
It was a wreck ,,,,,,,, He just didn't want to pay his bill, I think.
and, the average bear just ain't that sharp.
Well that's interesting! Have a good weekend and a happy new year celebration for 2024 ,God bless amen.
I am so annoyed to hear that someone decided it was alright to call the Sheriff on you. What a pathetic sad ****. Hi from the real Wales, U.K.
Tut tut... Robby stealing bent and messed up trucks. Just shows you think someone is a decent guy and he turns out to be a thief of messed up trucks that takes hours of his time and his employees time to get off of a mountain side
Glad to hear that you have rehabilitated your criminal ways and stopped stealing cars off the side of the mountain! Maybe you could make that front grill on the skid steer removable. That way, it could be off when Hillbilly is driving it so he could see and put back on when using the winch, for safety.
Thats it ??? 17 minutes??? What come on guy's i expected you to go back to the shop and take us along. What gives man lol??? That was the shortest video in along time.
It seems a bit silly not to use Fred as Auxiliary winch vehicle in this situation, a separation would have been unpleasant.
Probably in your area it isn't used. But on icy roads you can use sand, to get grip. Just need to spread it.
In northern Europe we use that in winter time, it can be very icy, like ice hockey icy or black ice
But did they get a lion?
Awesome Recovery! The best part everybody came out with was unhurt. Thank you for sharing this. I really enjoyed it!
Robby u should reach out to Weston chaplain bout doing the floor pan s & body work on his 69 charger , he said something bout needing some help with it in a video on his second channel yesterday , would make a good series 😁😁😁
We did and got no response
Good for you, your channel, and your bottom line that there are so many morons who drive vehicles and in places they should not. Poor tire and wheel choices, inadequate suspension, unprepared for emergencies. Great business model
Nothing worse than the feeling you get as a you start to slide sideways on tracks. Even rubber tracks.
Robby, check out screw in studs for the skidsteer. Double its effectiveness!
Awesome video Robby! I think we need to see last year's recovery video now. 🤘🏽😎
the guy who falsely accused you of stealing a truck you were recovering should face charges for false accusations and wasting police time. what a pathetic thing to do.
Do you ever find your parked hauling trucks still secure when you return from a rescue?
Glad everyone is ok. That off camber icy stuff is no joke. Be safe, glad you do what you do!
Robby , Hillbilly and Colton thank you for the adventure ! Wishing you all a Happy New Year !
Something that will help for traction on ice is wood Ash. It’s amazing when you put it on the ice it starts melting the ice, but it also gives incredible traction.
Great job Layton crew, it's videos like this that makes us know theres still good people in this world who are willing to sacrifice their time and possibly Bodily injury to help people in need of a rescue recovery! Til next time, see you then. ✌️ 😊
Good job guys!! Was a good learning experience!!✌🐢
Great recovery 👍 guys, thankful no one got hurt 🤕. Keep up the amazing work,an be safe everyone. May the kiddos be blessed with good health 🙏.
Might be worth getting a sipe tool and grooving those tracks for winter use. It works well, increases your traction and not super expensive. You could make a video of it.
Hillbilly, catch the Boss and Robby gone, hinge the extruded metal backlash guard so it is in a horizontal position as you travel and locate the Skiddy then pull it back into the vertical position and wala, no more car sickness plus clear views.
HILLYBILLY....... that grate folds down on the CAT. So it won't make you car sick. Hope this helps.
It's either "Over" meaning come back or "OUT" meaning I'm done. Never both together. I took radio operator military training. Alpha Bravo Charlie Echo Delta Foxtrot, Golf etc.
Can we acknowledge that a Ranger rolled down a hill, was drug back up and drove away? Mother lovin' Ford Ranger!!!
Happy new year and God bless to you and your family and crew. Thank you for the great content for the past year
Ya know when you put your finger between your lips and move your finger up and down real fast ... Well that's Hillbilly ... No disrespect but hey ...
Boy them is some good looking hound dogs!!
only $44 to fill up? you Americans have it so easy! that amount of fuel would cost us $163 in NZ.
Wells Utah? don't you mean whales? could be worse I suppose, people in Ten ih sea say ORL instead of OIL.
I hope you get to try out Bomby versus Whiskers on a road like that to see if Matts choice to use pneumatic tyres makes much of a difference... (with a glass of water in each one)
Is it WELLS or is it pronounced WHALES…..like the area it is named after in England?🏴
Hey Robby, love the Chanel- just wondering if the tow truck Rory was building is still happening. Watch religiously but might have missed the update, maybe when you got Fred you explained?
Somehow funny that you guys in the US slip around on snow and ice without real winter tires with spikes...! These all season off road tires are horrible and dangerous, when it comes to real hard ice and frozen snow. Today (as most days in the Norwegian winter time) I drove my LandCruiser up and down very much steeper slopes than these and covered with shiny, hard ice, with the real thing (Good Year Ultragrip Arctic 2 with lots of spikes) and diff lockers - totally controlled, safe and without problems of any kind. But, I know, that´s in Norway and not in the US (were these superb tires for ice and snow are made...)! I would be dead by now, driving on such tires as those on that Ranger...😉
Super recovery under very slippery conditions...dogs would have rather been chasing animals...
Maybe make that cable snapping guard fold down for transport or when not needed.
Wait, it already has that option. Look.... Just move that RED pin.
Time to invest in ice studs for the skidsteer tracks. Screw them in when needed. Remove when not.
Hillbilly explaining how he made it up the hill was exhausting. We get it, you went down the hill and picked a line with better traction…THE END!🤦♂️
Were the dogs ok?
Living in the snow belt, 90% of the vehicles you see in the ditch due to driving too stupidly on ice and snow are pick-up trucks. Pick-ups are terrible in slippery weather, and drivers think they're excellent. Expectation versus reality.
I don't know how far it is before the road turns bad, but I would have driven the rollback up and dumped Hillbilly as close as possible, then take the rollback down to park and come back up in Fred and still been waiting for the CAT. But I don't know the road so...
Ok boys point wherever you want. 😅. Great video. You know Fred has a powerful cable too. Maybe fix Fred brakes and do some real winching. Love your videos ❤😊.
Lived up a road much more steep and icy, frozen snow, packed snow and deep snow. Had traction tires with studs and chains with ice bars. Never went off the road. Whale Rock Road and other roads in Bellvue, CO. Private road maintained by owners that have road marked.
Man, the hound cage brings back a lot of memories!
So now Fred is losing his brakes. I keep telling you -- forget all the crazy plans about long arms, just give Fred some long-deferred maintenance and get him set up for work. Rory doesn't need long arms, and his truck goes into terrain you're not likely to see with Fred.
Really enjoy the odd recoveries that require multiple vehicles.
Damn yo, what are your diesel prices? 40 bucks around Philly is what they charge you just to lift the handle off the pump
I soo could have used your help 2 years ago. Stuck going up spring city canyon. Luckily someone with a fj and a winch was able to help.
Do they make spikes that you can put on the skid steer? Tracks are good in mud and some sand because they spread out the weight, but i would assume that would increase you odds of slipping on ice.
Thats just a guess though. Im from Florida, we only see snow on tv😂
Polarized sunglasses might help with the screen motion sickness. Does Maverick sell Pugs sunglasses? 👽🗿👽
Thank you for another great episode. Hope Lincoln gets better soon.
I had a similar occurrence with "stealing" a vehicle. I was working as a mechanic at a Volkswagen dealership. The service manager sent the clean-up man and me to bring a VW back to the shop for service. I was told that it was behind a bank. I went to the bank and sure enough there was a black VW behind the bank. The "customer" had failed to leave the keys with the car, so, I had to hot wire it to drive it back to the shop. When I got back, they told me that it wasn't the car they expected. I had taken the wrong car, but it was the only VW behind the bank. I then drove the car back to the bank and waiting for me was the local police. The owner of the car had seen me "steal" his car from a window in the bank and called the cops. The police took me to the station and after a few phone calls they released me and the owner, after hearing how this mix-up occurred, did not prefer charges. As it turned out, the service writer, who was recently from Germany, had a translation problem. The VW was behind the bank, but it was in a housing development behind the bank and it was a white one, not black.😅
Colten is awesome!
Are yall namin it Ford Fjord now😂 Ranger Ridge😮 Windsor Holler😂...js Fords and that hill dont seem to like each other
I have been in a track machine on ice and it's not fun. Good Job Hillbilly, I know how that must have felt when that machine started sliding.
The stealing claim was nothing more than a scam because they didn’t want to pay the recovery fees. Especially when they found out it took 6 hours.
I don't think your tracked Cat front end loader qualifies as a "skid steer". Normally, skid steers are equipped with wheels and tires.
Praying for Lincoln and that you all stay healthy. Miss you girl but a woman's job is never done 😊 although we can multi task better then men he he hurry back.
Tire chains, 🤔🧐. You would have to order dually chains. They make them.
I think it was another tow company reported that you steal it, Robby don’t steals trucks he recuses/fix trucks bro
Hillybilly with the winch pack on the skid steer I used you could flip the screen down while transporting…the pins look similar
great job! I think i would have doubled up that soft shackle just in case. but everything worked out.
So. Are you calling that off road fred? Wreaking games. So you have two?
Please, please, please, find a Dyed Diesel supplier. You are paying way too much money for the Caterpillar
Nice Drifting with Tracks! It looks like Hillbilly is 'porkin' up!
Ps . Why don't you carry some salt with you when you're going up some of these iceberg roads??
Get some snow tracks or groove the tracks on the cat. Get ahold of dirtmonkeyforce youtube channel he has videos of them doing it for snow plowing in Minnesota
At least hillbilly wasn't bullying Colton this episode! That crap makes me not want to watch!
Maverick needs to sponsor y'all with all the free advertising y'all do.😊
You could hinge the winch guard halfway up. Have it fold forward and then for the drives you don't have to look through it.
Note to video editor: Please pause the music when peoplw are speaking. Thank you.
lol, too funny, you spent $1,000 plus dollars on a recovery that they thought you stole their piece of scrap metal!
@1:28 You seem to be missing all of your required markings for that CMV.
Yet another example of where a John Deere 672D with chains would handle the job.
I just hope you got an apology from the father with that ford. Im sure it was just a big misunderstanding.
You see this kind of thing on channels a lot. Throw a set of chains in your truck folks. A couple hundred bucks in chains is cheaper than a new truck
ROBBIE. PLEASE SHOW HOW YOU GLUE IN PATCH PANELS. OR BETTER YET, COME TO SOUTH WEST VIRGINIA AND DO MINE ON MY BRONCO AND MAKE A VIDEO ABOUT IT.
