- Watch as the A-10 demonstration team prepares the blacksnake Thunderbolt II for a practice show Friday, 14 June 2024 at Moses Lake, Washington. The flight is brief, as the pilot detected a potential problem and returned the aircraft. Major Lindsay Johnson is the A-10C Thunderbolt II
Demonstration Team Pilot and Commander. She dismounts the first A-10, briefs the problem, and quickly climbs aboard the spare A-10 which has already been prepared for flight.
Major Johnson is responsible for showcasing
the A-10 Thunderbolt II at over 20 airshows annually
around the country, as well as internationally. She is also
responsible for leadership of a 10-person team that
includes maintenance and public affairs airmen. She and
the team highlight the capabilities of the A-10, as well as
pay tribute to Air Force history by flying formation flights
with the Heritage Flight Foundation.
Major Johnson commissioned through the United States Air
Force Academy in 2014 where she earned a Bachelor of
Science in Behavioral Sciences - Human Factors. She
has since earned a master’s degree in aviation safety from
the Florida Institute of Technology.
Major Johnson has served in Texas, Korea and Arizona. As
a veteran instructor pilot, she has amassed over 1,380
flight hours, including 431 combat flight hours in support
of both Operation Freedom’s Sentinel and the Resolute
Support Mission. Prior to her current position, Major
Johnson was an Instructor Pilot and Flight Commander,
357th Fighter Squadron, Davis-Monthan AFB, Arizona.
The Air Force A-10 demonstration team, in its final show season, has two visits in the Pacific Northwest - Moses Lake and Fairchild AFB, Washington.
Thanks for watching the Airailimages Channel. Subscribed?
Absolutely fantastic. Glad to see a woman pilot. An extraordinary experience for her.
Thanks, Air Rail Images.
You are very welcome. Thanks for watching.
@airailimages Great to see some coverage of what goes on before a flight.
Great A-10 coverage, Fred, she did a good job in both planes and rolls...
Thanks Mick!
Great to hang out with you on the ramp for 2 days. This swap was cool to see and glad everything went well.
Yes! See you again.
Great video coverage as always!! Thank you for sharing!! Those Warthogs are like doing aerobatics with a tractor trailer. They have so much brute power but they aren’t necessarily speed demons. That gal handled both ladies well!!!
Glad you enjoyed it.
Thank you!
You are welcome!
Fantastic
Thanks
Great Video😊
Thanks! 😊
From Davis-Monthan. I retired in 1989 on the OA-10. I was an Avionics Technician.
That nose art rules
Why is this the final show season for the A-10? Is it because the AF is chucking the A-10 for the F-35?
Thanks for the video. She did good flying the backup aircraft. Thanks.
Winding down A-10s; some to be replaced by F-16s. USAF touting F-35 air-to-ground capabilities as well. Idaho ANG supposed to get F-16s around 2026-27.
Wonderful Air show even though the wind was insane! RC pilots made that f-18 pilot look a schoolgirl😂 the f-18 flew maybe three high altitude passes and one after burning pass and that was it
😊
Glad you enjoyed it!
