Right!!! What a F'r for saying it's not the Shit-Board holder fault! Law Suite coming and the AMA should eliminate the Problem (idiot) and fine the team $1M for jo!
Racing incident BS, Shimoda can use all of the track the pit board should not have been where it was. All fault is on the guy holding the board and that guy and his team should be penalised
I'm not sure I can buy the "just a racing incident" excuse. If the guy with the pit board was racing, that would be one thing, but he's just some jagoff mechanic who may have ended the title chances for the current point leader.
Mechanic was 100% in the wrong and at fault, pure negligence. Joe was ON THE TRACK! How could it be anyone else's fault but the mechanic? There should be some consequences for that team, don't know what would be right but there should be something, like a 2 race ban or something semi severe.
What in the hell do you mean the mechanic was not in the wrong? Jo was on the track exactly where he belonged. Going to the very edge of the track near the tuff blocks is totally allowed and should be expected by everyone. The mechanic had his board sticking out too far causing Jo to hit it. It's not like Jo crashed off of the track and then hit the pit board. It was just qualifying, keep your damn pit board out of the way! We will never know but this mechanic may have cost Jo the championship. With Deegan not up to normal speed yet who knows?
Right!!! What a F'r for someone saying it's not the Shit-Board holders fault! Law Suite coming and the AMA should eliminate the Problem (idiot) and fine the team $1M for jo!

Right!!! What a F'r for someone saying it's not the Shit-Board holders fault! Law Suite coming and the AMA should eliminate the Problem (idiot) and fine the team $1M for jo!
The vid quality was bad that I saw, and I could not see the board sideways. That makes sense. Good post. Glad to see you "think" past the lynch mob. :)
I think the AMA could fix this with a better spot for the mechanics area. Maybe elevate that area? Or put it in a spot that the bikes don't drift in to. Pit boards could be soft material? No rider should be injured by a rival team mechanic.
If the rider was INSIDE The track and NOT hitting the tough blocks, then it's HIS track to be on!!! Pit boards should NEVER be allowed inside the track limits!! Everyone has a responsibility to fix this BS and not let it happen again!! Shimoda could have just lost a chance at a title because of this and it was NOT his fault.
Coty's mechanic. AMA needs to change this. It's a free-for-all with pit boards all over the place. "PUSH"..."BREATHE"..."DRIVE"..."FORWARD" If you ask the rider after the race what a message said, he usually replies he didn't see it.
what an idiot. they should penalize for that somebody could have got way more hurt. plus the pit boards are useless they just tell you your lap time. props to shimoda for still racing wth 2 broken fingers
Right!!! What a F'r for someone saying it's not the Shit-Board holders fault! Law Suite coming and the AMA should eliminate the Problem (idiot) and fine the team $1M for jo!
Ur opinion a pure ass dude. No way I. Heck is it on shimoda or any rider. That is 100% on the mechanic. Another daft UA-camr, good to know ignore this channel in the future.
Idiotic thing to say that nobody was at fault, really. The racers are allowed to race every inch of marked track and should be able to do so without fear of some Idiot hitting you with a board breaking your fingers because as you said he was to close to the tough blocks. So basically your passively blaming Shimota and acting like its a completely normal occurrence to leave your pit board hanging out in an active race track. Pathetic. Also i went back and the pit boards used by Coty Schocks team didn't have yellow on them and he wasn't near Shimota at the time so no reason for his board to be out. But the other team named does have yellow on their boards and bikes and they had a rider close to Joe. But what do i know im not a simp that blames the victim with broken fingers for racing all of the track . Ill see myself out.
Great! Now mechanics can win championships with pit boards, unless they penalize it heavily. ..how normal is it that the pit board is held horizontally, like it seemed in this case??.. which creates maximum impact! I doubt you could get injured by a propper vertically held pit board 💡
Racing incident!? I have long had an issue with how far on the track the pit boards are projected! This is sometimes used as strategies to disrupt a rider or block their view. This is not the first time a rider has been hit by a pit board. The mechanic section needs adjusted so it doesn't interfere with the rider using All of the races track.
That looks pretty bad, I don't see Jo running A2 that is going to feel much worse on day 2 or 3 once things settle in. Where was shock on the track at the time was there any need for the board to be out at all?
You can't see him in the frame but in saying that it's a close angel we need a wider view. But from what we see the question needs to be asked what was the pit board even doing out in the first place.
Mechanic is at fault. NFW should the board be anywhere near the riders without being in control of the board such that you can see and avoid oncoming riders. If more separation is needed to avoid this in the future then so be it. This incident should not have been possible. It's ridiculous that it was allowed to happen and totally unfair to Jo.
100% mechanic in the wrong. Joe was close to the tough blocks but still on track. You can’t lean out onto the track and hit a rider. You’re kidding if you think the mechanics can quickly just lean out of the way a little bit. Ridiculous thing to happen. If riders are struggling to see their pit boards then AMA or teams need a new system. It’s not 1970. How about a digital board where the bar pad is. AMA can control the size and what information is given. Let’s say 100 characters and updated once a lap? Fkn simple fix.
100% mechanics fault!! Total negligence on their part. How can you not see the rider coming, and imo was it to be a prick or a total F him? I'm not moving the board. I'm sorry you will not convince me that they didn't have time to at LEAST pull the board in a little.
100% the mechanics fault. I doubt it was on purpose, but it was 100% his fault. The mechanics are responsible for their pit boards and not hitting the riders who are on the track. The guy just ruined Jo Shimoda's championship hopes and there needs to be consequences for that.
Yeah, racing incident. But those racing incidents shouldn’t happen. Situations like these should come with a hefty fine to the team responsible or they have to find a way to completely eliminate this from happening again
Wtf? I didn't even know this happened tell now. That mechanic should face at least 2 race suspension. No reason that happens. No I disagree mechanic 100% in the wrong
I like the show and what you’re doing, but that’s a wild take. It’s 100% the mechanic’s responsibility to keep their boards out of the way of the riders. No excuses, no special circumstances - 100% mechanic’s responsibility and fault here.
Change the rules and make sure the boards are not over the wall so this doesn't happen again. These guys are worth big money, and if it wasn't for them, you wouldn't have a sport.
In my opinion they shouldn’t have the mechanic blocks that close. Back them up a little so the riders can use the full track because if you look back at qualifying, they are right there damn near in the track.

100% mechanics fault! There are clear track markers laying out what the track is and as a mechanic if you choose to hang your board over the edge of the track it’s up to you to get it out of the way of your and other riders in time. Though I don’t think it was intentional or on purpose doesn’t mean it wasn’t his fault. That being said, mechanics areas should be on the inside of corners for pure safety and the ease of a foam surrounding on the pit board may not have prevented all damage but reduced it significantly and should be mandatory from A2
Should be a penalty / fine for the mechanic team & rider. No one sees those stupid pit boards half the time. Come on AMA let them run radios like other. motor sports. I hope Joe gets better soon and has a good rest of the year.
No you are totally incorrect .PRIORITY is mandatory to all the riders .It an incident you say .Lucky ferrandis isn't landing on Sexton ,A pit board you say a racing incident ,You mean a season destroying and a possible carreer destroying incident.CANT believe its not the government full on liers or is it because of Feld and Coombes. The guy was hanging on to his ride this was it this year put up or move on.Cant believe truly you can deem it ahh don't worry im alright
This is a prime example why in-ear communication between rider, mechanic and race control should be allowed / the primary means of talking to a rider. No more mechanic boards. This would also help immensely for letting riders know about cautions; red cross flags; red flags; etc. A way to improve everyone's safety. Move forward, AMA!
It was tried in the 80's, when bike speeds were slower on the 2-strokes. Now imagine you are trying to pass a guy, and his mechanic tells his rider you "He is coming on your left!". You move left to block,--and crash both of you. Passing will become much more dangerous.

The communications can be regulated and monitored so things like that don't happen. I agree look how long the 250 lcq went before they figured out it was under a red flag. One way coms. Monitored and regulated
Yeah mechanics fault, how close was Shock to the back of Joe wasn't even in same frame so to even have it out there was ridiculous to begin with. Mechanic obviously wasn't specially aware of the situation and 100% fault lies on him. The track builders also maybe need to move the tough blocks in a foot to prevent this from happening again create the separation if mechanics can't get there shit sorted. Riders belong on the track that's their space mechanics shouldn't be or put themselves in a position where they can interfere with another rider, period. Its a bad look that it was a Yamaha pit board and conspiracy theorist will have a field day with it, but in short it should never have happened.
There should obviously be a second fence where the mechanics line up, 1 meter in from the track fence, creating a safe barrier zone so the pit boards don't hang in a race track...
this was my first video of yours, I have seen. cant believe you think it was ok for the mechanic to have is board where a rider could hit it. wont be back to your channel sorry not sorry
Why the hell are pit boards allowed out during qualifying anyway. They only need to know how long and what their time is, and that is displayed on a massive screen in the stadium.
Definitely think the mechanic is at fault, but pretty hard to say what penalty there should be. I don't think it should be taken out on the mechanics rider it's not like he did anything, if it was an accident or negligence, of course. I know they should be paying for any medical bills that's for sure lmao. It doesn't look like he had the board out because the rider was coming or had just passed, looked like he was just chilling with it there waiting. If that's the case there's definitely fault there.
Seems like the separator between the mechanics and the track were too close to the edge ef the track itself. Throw in an antiquated messaging system that requires riders to take their eyes off of the track, which is stupid. The AMA really needs to adopt a radio system for the safety personnel, the mechanics, and the riders. This will immensely help the safety measures/flaggers to notify riders of track situations. It's also a system that team spotters and teams can notify their riders of race information.
Easy, common sense fix: make the mechanic area tuff block things taller to get them above the level of riders' handlebars. Sponsors will probably be all for this as it gives them more space for a bigger logo in that area of the track.
Thank you for looking into it!! Absolutely no headset comms, the amount of race manipulation would be horrendous… As far as the board…the technology is there, should be on a set screen, it would be to easy to solve…same size and spec as the current, just placed in a spot that doesn’t move. It works for the leader board in practice.
Why couldn't they mount a cellphone sized screen to the bars and text the info.the riders could glance down and get info?i know not great for mud races.but it's an idea.
This could actually cost Jo or anyone a championship. Accident or not the pit board should never be able to contact a rider. Simply adding more tough blocks so they can't reach that far would be an easy solution.
No! Stages are REALLY HARD - Joe hit stage, Joe in hospital. Just don't want heavy hard objects anywhere near the track. REALLY not Joe's fault! Not trying to say Joe would hit said stage - just could be any racer go off track anywhere
My take on this, i dont care if its a racing incident, complete accident or anything, a rider should never have this happen period and even if it was his own mechanic i think the mechanic should receive a fine for it. I don't at all think there was any ill intent at all and it was a unlucky accident, but i dont care i think there should be a fine of some sort involved. Again that's just my opinion as i know others (privateers i know) have had it happen before, thankfully no injuries those times, but the fact that it does happen is unacceptable.
To all the kids who never raced Motocross but still think you know all the answers. You won't see a pit board if it is off the track. I do see that the track designs for SX, (all jumps and a fast straight), and the 30% faster speeds of the 4-stroke do cause problems. So I say we blame the FIM and the EPA, (If you know the sports history), as they are actually the cause for every new problem.
It's the riders track not the mechanics or their pit boards. It's time to get rid of pit boards and use com's just like most, if not all motorsports use. ✌️
That board definitely had the yellow numbers 38 on it which is deegan's mechanic not cody shocks as Yamaha would like you to believe, this was absolutely sabotage as Hayden does not have the fitness or the speed currently to compete with Juju and Joe and Smithy complete Yamaha fabrication, corruption at the highest level. The team Yamaha should be penalised with a two race suspension for all riders in the 250 category, this was completely avoidable but it sure looks like it was done purposely farking disgraceful blue crew suck
The pit boards should have to be all the way back over when not being used. Mechanics fault. When your racing and riding you use ever inch of the track to find smoother lines. Jo is killing it though and hope he heels up quick. #30
If this was a racing incident, then what is next? clotheslining a rider when they come by? I know you wanna get your pit board out so your rider can see it but as soon as he goes by or if multiple riders are coming by you do it safely, you can hold it above your head. You don’t have to stick it all the way out like that. And if I was not the mechanic that did it and was getting blamed, I definitely let people know it wasn’t me.
no race radio!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@@mekg2439why not?? It would add to the sport, it would get the mechanics away from the track and just like F1 it would give fans another way to enjoy the sport by getting to listen in to race chatter over the radio. I don’t see how this would be bad for the sport in any way.
@@Truth_Spoken do you know this from experience?? I’ve personally experienced racing where we have in helmet coms with a co pilot and other people and can say from experience that it doesn’t distract at all, in fact it helps in many ways. Do you have personal experience with in helmet coms?
Not a Racing Incident. I guess I should go be a photographer and break 5 fingers next round with my lens. The mechanic seriously could of changed the entire series. Jo didn't break his fingers. His fingers were broken by a pit board in practice that should not be on the track. Was the mechanics rider even near the section or was this knuckle head clueless.
Sorry dude. The mechanic is 100% in the wrong! He stuck his pit board over the wall, well into the racing line on the track and hit a rider. Apparently had a damn solid grip on it too…
If your pit board is in the track you are 100% responsible, the riders are 100% racing on their track

I thought I noticed the pit boards a little close to the riders coming by....
Do you think in the setup they had a rider could even see a pit board, things were happening very fast.
There should obviously be a second fence where the mechanics line up, 1 meter in from the track fence, creating a safe barrier zone so the pit boards don't hang in a race track...
this was my first video of yours, I have seen.
cant believe you think it was ok for the mechanic to have is board where a rider could hit it.
wont be back to your channel
sorry not sorry
Why the hell are pit boards allowed out during qualifying anyway. They only need to know how long and what their time is, and that is displayed on a massive screen in the stadium.
So, If Coty Schock was not doing well this year so far, it would not have happened? :)
And wtf are those boards made from?
No finger pointing jo still killed it lol
Definitely think the mechanic is at fault, but pretty hard to say what penalty there should be. I don't think it should be taken out on the mechanics rider it's not like he did anything, if it was an accident or negligence, of course. I know they should be paying for any medical bills that's for sure lmao. It doesn't look like he had the board out because the rider was coming or had just passed, looked like he was just chilling with it there waiting. If that's the case there's definitely fault there.
So i can just happen to leave my board sticking out there when the guy behind my guy is coming. Oops just sticking out. Racing incident.
Have Race Comms that only works in a specific area near the mechanic area then turns off. Unprofessional response from the mechanic.
I’ve raced with a broken finger and it didn’t heal until I broke my wrist and was forced to sit
Thank you for looking into it!!
Absolutely no headset comms, the amount of race manipulation would be horrendous…
As far as the board…the technology is there, should be on a set screen, it would be to easy to solve…same size and spec as the current, just placed in a spot that doesn’t move.
It works for the leader board in practice.
I always root for Deegan but am sad Joe was riding injured after such a good start to his season last weekend. Greg🇬🇧
It was timed practice, not racing Cody was nowhere in sight for that board to be there.
Why couldn't they mount a cellphone sized screen to the bars and text the info.the riders could glance down and get info?i know not great for mud races.but it's an idea.
Dumbest thing I ever heard
This could actually cost Jo or anyone a championship.
Accident or not the pit board should never be able to contact a rider.
Simply adding more tough blocks so they can't reach that far would be an easy solution.
The mechanics need to hold their boards up higher. They should be on a platform a couple ft high. Kinda like a stage I guess.
No! Stages are REALLY HARD - Joe hit stage, Joe in hospital. Just don't want heavy hard objects anywhere near the track. REALLY not Joe's fault! Not trying to say Joe would hit said stage - just could be any racer go off track anywhere
@nettydrone9100 of course they would have tough blocks around it in case someone hit it.
Move the mechanics barriers back from track, put tuff blocks up against the barriers. This will prevent this from happening again.
Go Yoder!
Since this is unheard of and not a reoccurring problem nothing will be done and it is a freak accident .
Race radio solves all of this
no race radio!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@@mekg2439why not?? It would add to the sport, it would get the mechanics away from the track and just like F1 it would give fans another way to enjoy the sport by getting to listen in to race chatter over the radio.
I don’t see how this would be bad for the sport in any way.
No way, too distracting for the riders.
@@Truth_Spoken do you know this from experience?? I’ve personally experienced racing where we have in helmet coms with a co pilot and other people and can say from experience that it doesn’t distract at all, in fact it helps in many ways. Do you have personal experience with in helmet coms?
Subscribed to your s*** good report 🏁
It's because Deegan is a punk ass, so is his father so it wouldn't surprise anyone that it was Deegan's mechanic.
We just have to make light pit board in polystyrene.
Sorry dude. The mechanic is 100% in the wrong! He stuck his pit board over the wall, well into the racing line on the track and hit a rider. Apparently had a damn solid grip on it too…
You from mass? I saw 978. Wasn't sure.
Give the riders radios to there mechanic and then the pit board will only be needed if the radio goes out.
