Thank you so much for this absolutely stellar performance. I spent an evening with Alvin Lee while he was performing in Austin in 95 and he treated me like an old friend, although we met on a smoke break. I get weepy when I hear this solo. Thank you for such a respectful performance. He even gave me the guitar pic he used that night.
One the best guitar solos of all time. Rivals Carlos Santana's skill. Alvin Lee was amazing. Being able to replicate that is quite an accomplishment. We'll done, Sir!
I've told people for years that this is one of the most beautiful examples of lead/solo guitar I've ever heard. You've done a remarkable job here. Thank you so much.
Impressive. This is the first time I have seen this done correctly. (Well, OK, Alvin Lee did it right.) Not just the notes are correct, but so are the fretting positions and every nuance. You rock!
My hat off to you Sir. Thank you. This solo has been living in my heart since the 1st time I heard it as a boy, I"m 51 now. Still ranks #1 from me. I hope to learn it too now - thanks to you (nice SG) I got an Epiphone SG that will do it! Thanks Again - Kent
Of the 25 people that downvoted this, first, it's obvious that you're jealous second, this is at the moment, is free, third, I've known a few people that have figured out certain solos (I won't name them) but these people good or bad will rarely share their knowledge if ever. I can't imagine a guitarist more generous than this person. Thank you once again.
Tommy ! Dude your ability is off the chain! I knew when you nailed that 38 special caught up in you where you nailed that chromatic into a fast lick and out again with another chromatic you were a force to be reckoned with! This cover comes as no surprise! Guess you like the home life with your wife and not into playing on the road with any band! There's a thousands of them out there I'm sure love to have you as their lead guitarist! Thanks again for total intimidation! Ha Ha
Oh man, ya nailed it.....excellent, thanks for doing this. One of my favorites right out of my time. I was just home from a government sponsored free vacation in lovely South East Asia. Alvin could really tear it up and so do YOU!
Best song ever taught by one of the best Internet teachers.get Tom’s Lessons.! This song is timeless my mom was a 60s 70s hippie I went to bed with this song playing on the turntable eight tracks then cassettes. Today I got frustrated over all the politics of our country and this world January/7/ 2022 I’m now 62. All I could do was think of this song I cranked it over and over again then I thought I’m gonna learn this on guitar. I was happy to find out, I had purchased a membership to all of tom‘s lessons😃 and found this lesson there I’m learning the song thanks tom
What a bad ass solo, sounds just like Alvin. Big Time Kudos my friend, big kudos. The artists of yesteryear were/are truly amazing. Back in 1960's to early 70's my 3 older brothers listened to this music and were always laughing now I know why. Magical.
Me & my friends used to butcher this song, back in the late 70s thinking we were killing it!!! Finally in the early nineties me & Carlos figured it out, we used a hollow body greatch ( not spelled right, I know,) and a 79 Gibson custom. And finally got it almost this close ., this is great !!! Love it 👍🏻
Wow! That's was the best. You just gave me the best rendition of that guitar for Alvin Lee. You nailed it! There are so many guitarist that just play around it. Man,with my ears I heard it true. Thank you.
The most impressive part of this for me is the beautiful tone and vibrato. You captured every phrase every nuance. It's quite a talent. I'm really working on this now. Bought your transcript 2 years back but got side tracked.
Wow - so amazing to see you recreate that fantastic TYA masterpiece, showcasing the incredible Alvin Lee's guitar wizardry. Seeing your fingerwork makes me appreciate how skilful a player Alvin was. Bravo, you matched Alvin and made it look effortless - and it sounded superb!
OK, you got me, you nailed it, very impressive. I'll buy the lesson. First, though I am going to learn the Terry Kath 25 or 6 to 4 solo, I found a very good site for that solo, then I will learn this from you. Terry Kath and Alvin lee are, to me, very similar guitarists, speed married to taste. I am not impressed by speed unless its not just showing off, it has to be musical. Alvin Lee and Terry Kath were the fastest really great musicians who played rock guitar. Anyhow, in my opinion. They really had a musical statement to make and the fact that they had the gift of virtuosic control over their instrument did not take away from their melodic gift, it enhanced it.
Always loved this song, can tell you do as well. Have been watching this for about an hour now. Think I would be content if this the only song I could ever play. Thank You !
This is the only video I've seen where a guy plays it note for note up to speed with the proper bends. There's a reason it's the only video. Excellent job, I'm trying to learn this now and even with technology to slow it down its still hard.
Thanks. It did prove to be quite challenging to play. On hearing it over the years I figured it was easy just typical guitar licks. But I was wrong. Instead I found he hops across the strings quite a bit and plays faster than it sounds.
Nice work on one of my fav songs. Didn't miss a lick! Perfect. Who would give this a thumbs down. I suppose its like coaching a kids sports team, there's always one asshole parent who thinks their kids the best.
I love so much this song musically and for its social content, especially against every war. This happens since the year 1972, when I heard, for the first time, into a record machine. It has great guitar but also difficult solos, original and in this cover. It's the first time also for me i listen to this solos played in a very perfect way.
Hey Tommy! Tony aka Anthony Starguitar! I thank you again sir for posting the 38 special caught up in you video for me! I think the fact your a Baby-Boomer like myself makes covering these songs we grew up with that much more enjoyable to cover! But anyone who could go from a chromatic riff into a fast lick then back out of the lick chromatically right on time I knew was a major talent! Referring to the ending lead on Caught up in you! Still waiting for Blue Oyster Cult Godzilla!? Ha Ha!
Holy Crap...! You did a GREAT job on that... I've been wanting to figure that solo out for longer than I really want to admit... gonna have'ta head over to the site and pick up the lesson for this right now... excellent, excellent job on that... ;-)
Alvin Lee one of the great 🎸 players of all time. This song is prophetic for the days we are in now ‼️
That's one of the most amazing musical things I've ever seen. and I've been playing for 40 years and I've seen a few things.
+jeff summerton thanks for the comment... much appreciated!
Watching this over and over, can't hardly believe what I'm seeing and hearing.
Would be content, if this is the only song I ever played. ha !
I agree. He's got an impeccable groove going on...
Same here, this guy smokes.
Absolutely amazing love it

Wow! That's an amazing story.
@@LEADSOLO It was surreal to say the least. I mean, we didn't remain in touch or anything, it was just a great night drinking and talking with him.
One the best guitar solos of all time. Rivals Carlos Santana's skill. Alvin Lee was amazing. Being able to replicate that is quite an accomplishment. We'll done, Sir!
Alvin would be proud

Alvin Lee´s smiling from heaven... Amazing cover !!!
One of the greatest songs of all time IMHO. I love how the lead in this song compliments the overall song so well without overpowering it...
Impressive. This is the first time I have seen this done correctly. (Well, OK, Alvin Lee did it right.) Not just the notes are correct, but so are the fretting positions and every nuance. You rock!
Yeah but you never saw Alvin do it
GREAT PLAYING,ALVIN WOULD BE SO HUMBLE,AND PROUD OF YOUR PLAYING,HE REALLY WOULD BE.GREAT JOB,LESSON FOR US ALL.😎🎸🎶🔊🎼☮️ BOB

Ditto.
One of the truly great guitar songs in rock history, and you nailed it start to finish. Well done yet again, sir. Impressive to say the least.

The solo at "senators, stop the war" gave me the chills. Killer solos, to my ears, up to Alvin Lee's level.
Oh man, ya nailed it.....excellent, thanks for doing this. One of my favorites right out of my time. I was just home from a government sponsored free vacation in lovely South East Asia. Alvin could really tear it up and so do YOU!

Nice to see people still play one of the best guitars in the world...every one played one back in the day!...
Damn I love this old music. Thank you for keeping it alive. Great work.
I watched it again. You are the best rendition of, " I'd like to save the world," Ten Years After. Your guitar playing was right on.
Carry On!
Excellent playing. Back in the day I loved this guy and song. Peace.
I would say sir that you have mastered the art of the fretboard. Best solo on YT. CAN'T BELIEVE THE NUANCES.
Beautiful. As always, note perfect. Great feel. You are the gold standard!

Killer Song . Excellent Job Bro .
Back in '71 I thought Hendrix played the cleanest and clearest ax, until I heard Alvin Lee.
I love this song. Haven’t heard it in years. I need to learn it.
This is the only video I've seen where a guy plays it note for note up to speed with the proper bends.
