I've gotten to a point where I can actually FEEL the energy of trying to hit OCD with logic. I can literally feel the energy draining out of my body as I talk to my myself in a conversation that goes absolutely no where.

Being rational is being logical, so it's not that the logic does not work in OCD, it does not work as a compulsion, but can work to change belief systems.

Exactly big difference between rationalising and rational in this context.

Hey Ashish - This isn't entirely accurate. Logic can look like this, 'I am a 17 year old statistically my chances of getting cancer is low.' Logically this makes sense but is pure reassurance.

@@OCDrecoveryNick that is what we were covering in the point above that is an avoidance compulsion.

Both accepting worst case scenario and mindfulness help for me the meditation and sitting with the feelings and thoughts without trying to resist them helps with emotional deregulation physical symptoms of ocd high blood pressure ect

Wow amazing video. And I always think logic will work and try again and again and again 😅 then I realize it doesn’t work even if you believe the logic OCD will say okay but it’s still possible and we will latch on to that 😅

I’ve gotten to the point where I know logic doesn’t work, but I can’t help but be angry that accepting the worst case outcome is the treatment.
I tear up at the thought. Nobody should have to do this.

Hey Erick - Yes it's certainly not easy, I thought the same too. What I realized over time is by accepting my worst-case scenarios, and I know this sounds crazy, so many other areas of my life have benefited.

This is exactly where I’m at Erick! I get angry at having to accept something I’m 99.9% sure didn’t happen. But as you know 99.9% isn’t enough

Isnt some self-reassurance and logic thinking automatic if the fear of fear high when scary thoughts come up?

Is it possible to accept that I could be dead in the very next moment because it feels like I'm not breathing properly and gonna choke and meet death(sensorimotor and health OCD )
Like it feels impossible to be ever able to accept death when ur fearful of it lingering there each and every moment

We can do translator calls! But I also work with many people who speak portuguese as their primary language, I can slow my speech down a lot as well.

Thank you for touching on the “Just don’t ruminate” fallacy. The people that champion this are people that have never had OCD and it’s infuriating to see it perpetuated on different channels…

Through this OCD-Episode I' ve found many logic reasons why I've proofed my OCD is wrong but it does not go away.
So it's disproved and logic is on my side but this fact does not stop the OCD 😕
    So what to do?
And may I ask what this "acceptance" should mean for example in POCD or health-OCD when you are scared of HIV or Harm-OCD when you are scared to kill a family member with a knife etc. ? I mean some of these OCD-things are an offence and are punished, so you simply cannot accept them.

Watch the videos we’ve done on core fears, gets under that. Also in our 1-1 sessions we specifically tailor this to your fears as these can be tricky to get under ourselves.
