I have lived in Indonesia for 25 years and this is the first time I have heard this explanation, because all this time we have always been told that the main god in Prambanan is Shiva.
Actually it looks similar to the concept of Sanghyang Taya from agama Tirta/agama Kapitayan or we called it dynamism and animism... It's the legacy of Aji Saka/Ajiwaka/Ajivaka from Bumi Majeti/Kali Serayu... Our ancestor from Jambudwipa according to purwacarita... The term Kapitayan is Old Javanese in origin, constructed from the base word Taya/Teu Aya (unimaginable', 'unseen', or 'absolute'). Thus, it means that Taya cannot be thought or imagined, or cannot be approached by pancaindra (the five senses)... Kapitayan is teaching that worships a main deity or God called Sanghyang Taya (ꦱꦁꦲꦾꦁꦠꦪ, meaning 'unimaginable entity'; also called Suwung (ꦱꦸꦮꦸꦁ), Awang (ꦲꦮꦁ), or Uwung (ꦲꦸꦮꦸꦁ)). Sanghyang Taya is defined as tan keno kinaya ngapa (ꦠꦤ꧀ꦏꦺꦤꦏꦶꦤꦪꦔꦥ), meaning "cannot be seen, thought about, or imagined". As an abstraction that cannot be described, His existence is unreachable by worldly capacity... The Kapitayan/Aji Saka/Ajiwaka/Ajivaka teachings did not worship the object as absolute power but rather worshiped Hyang, the highest power... Hyang/Hong/Ong/Om/God... Now, sembahyang (worshipping Hyang) has become a synonym for sholat (Islamic prayer) in bahasa Indonesia... But some of our brothers (especially Kejawen) face directly into Mt. Semeru/Mahameru in East Java instead of Ka'bah... Similar to agama Sunda Wiwitan, the final goal is to nga-hyang/ngahiang/mukti/moksa... Addition: The term animism and dynamism and agama Sunda Wiwitan is more acceptable than the term of agama Kapitayan... Because some of our brothers want to separate their ancestors teachings from syncretic teaching...
The hindu philosophy is God is everywhere with or without form. Depending on the devotee, Parabrahman may Shiva, Vishnu or Naraayani (mother goddess, consort of Shiva and sister of Vishnu). If I am a Shaivaite, it is Shiva, Vaishnava is Vishnu and for some others it is Goddess Parvati.
In Hinduism, Para Brahman itself refers as formless trinity of Brahma, Shiva and Vishnu. So, Para Brahman is not different from Shiva. Para Brahman and Shiva(including Vishnu and Brahma) are two sides of same coin.
REALLY? Now we have a FOLLOWING connection in travels/knowledge/way of order. EIther distributions to or from that window at human level is my take away!

It is so true that we Hindu especially in Bali we worship for Para Brahman the form less God. The highest Truth. The One, without beginning or end, all-pervading, free from all blemishes, full and perfect. That's why most of the Temple (Pura) in Bali don't have any statue inside the main Temple. It is commonly said that we worship God in the Acitya state. The form less, untinkable, no gender and out of reach of any emotions and mantra. Thanks you for giving information as it is ❤

So it's a temple to the Brahman. The one true God/Energy/Source. What a trip! I never would have thought. So interesting! So cool to see modern Hindus still worshipping at the same place as they did thousands of years ago. It's also really cool to see them worshipping at the site of the Brahman instead of at the site of the allegorical representative or aspect of the Brahman in Shiva. Great work as always Praveen!!
Penjelasanya begitu detail dan mudah dipahami, terimakasih untuk informasinya kini saya lebih mengerti tentang sejarah candi prambanan dari negeri saya :)
Hello, archaeologist here. First of all, thank you for showing big interest in our cultural heritage. I would like to add some (not very popular) information regarding this temple, if you like :) This temple complex were formally called as "Shivagrha" (House of Shiva), as it was mentioned in the Shivagrha inscription, now in Indonesian National Museum (it's googleable). The neighboring Buddhist temple (now called as Sewu Temple), was originally called as Manjusrigrha. We called it Prambanan because it was found in ruins (not bcs of war, but abandoned after volcanic activities that shifted Javanese civilization eastward, that's another story) and simply located in a village named Prambanan. There are some theories regarding the etimology of that name, but the Para Brahman root is one possibility. Just like Prambanan, a lot of Javanese temples were rediscovered in ruined state, and with most of the local population lost connection to them (albeit most were preserving their Javanese culture), most of the original names for the temples were lost, except for those lucky enough to be mentioned in any inscriptions, like Shivagrha (Prambanan) does. Usually for the no-name temples we would identify it with either: 1. The name of the village nearby, or 2. The (contemporary) local name of it. For example, the neighboring Sewu Temple were called as such because it has so many shrines people assuming it to be a thousand (in Javanese: Sewu) of them.
Incredibly smart. Am impressed with your discoveries. May Government of India pay attention to your work and support you with whatever you want so as to enlighten us on the lost knowledge our ancient civilization has to offer.
@@jamesaron1967Hmm.. the mind of the body is in illusion that this body + mind / thoughts is me . When this illusion fades with seeking ( spiritual seeking) then probably we will realise who we really are , maybe the realised sages experienced it ‘ Aham brahmasmi ‘ and hence introduced it into texts . Maybe this realisation itself is ‘Moksha ‘ from cyclic life called samsara . Some one else used the word ‘ tatva asmi’ ‘ i am that ‘ to explain his realisation of the ultimate truth. But experience is same difference is in expression in words.

The name Prambanan, derived from the name of the village where this temple stands, is thought to be a change in the name of the Javanese dialect of the Hindu theological term Para Brahman which means "Great Brahman", namely Barhman or the highest and greatest eternal reality that cannot be described, which is often equated with the concept of God. in Hinduism. Another opinion is that Para Brahmans may refer to the heyday of this temple which was once filled with Brahmans. Another opinion suggests that the name "Prambanan" comes from the root word mban in Javanese which means to bear or assume duties, referring to the Hindu gods who carry out the task of organizing and maintaining harmony in the universe. Another name for Prambanan can mean 5 (five) mountains, which in Khmer/Cambodian language 5 (five) is Pram and banam is mountain (ប្រាំភ្នំ). It depicts the 5 mountain peaks of the Himalayas in India. Remembering at the same time in the Khmer chronicle that the Javanese had colonized the Khmer for 200 years and Jayawarman the 2nd who was in Java was the hero who freed the Khmer from Javanese domination.

Addition:
The term animism and dynamism and agama Sunda Wiwitan is more acceptable than the term of agama Kapitayan... Because some of our brothers want to separate their ancestors teachings from syncretic teaching...
Oh God it's daunting 😢@@ariapinandita9240
@@ariapinandita9240 Sounds like the word "Turiya" from Mandukya Upanishad.
Fantastic naration and mind blowing research on this temple, Thanks for the valued information

Thank you so much 😀
Surprise, surprise. Para Brahman, a rose is a rose by any other name. Thank you Praveen for making us closer to one another.
Once again you have outdone yourself!!
Excellent link between philosophy, theology and temple!
I’m *so* very grateful that I found this channel. It’s really rare to find English language channels that do “real” (or at least not govt. funded) commentary on the culture, spirituality, art and architecture of…well, basically, anywhere that’s not Europe or North America.
Thank you again ✌🏻
Great Praveen sir Liked it!
Excellent video! I find your deduction on the name Prambanan very logical & highly persuasive.
Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva are itself the manifestations of Para Brahman
its DATTA DIGAMBAR

Finally understood. TQ 🙏🏿 🙏🏿🙏🏿
Left part of the temple is used to place ganesh due to every Pooja need to start with ganesh mantra .
Yes. Its true. In south India in Chitambaram Nataraj temple you can see people are worshipping ' Akash Lingam' the form less Shiva.
A true hindu, who is a seeker of the abundant knowledge of temples and bharat ancient civilisation will always support praveen mohan.
Jai hind
Always learning something new on your channel, many thanks. 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Glad to hear that!
Thanks you for giving information as it is ❤
Thank You for creating this video, it gives us a new knowledge for us Indonesian which we also never know about it👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Respect!!! 🙏🏻

Brilliant! Thank you SO much for this amazing and beautiful analysis and insights Praveen Mohan! .❤❤❤
I became a Hindu from an atheist because of Mr. Praveen Mohan
Congratulations.
He's an Atheist
Same but not because of this guy but because after knowing about Kailasa Temple Ellora and Ancient Rishi's inventions ❤
Praveen Mohan added cherry on top.
Our society and government always tried to show that ancient Hindus are dumb and full of superstitions.
But now I'm free from brainwashing❤😊
Lol how?

Superb analysis Sir.. God Bless you and your Team .. love the work and efforts ❤
Thanks a ton!
Wow mindblowing analysis ❤
Penjelasanya begitu detail dan mudah dipahami,

Hello, archaeologist here. First of all, thank you for showing big interest in our cultural heritage. I would like to add some (not very popular) information regarding this temple, if you like :)
This temple complex were formally called as "Shivagrha" (House of Shiva), as it was mentioned in the Shivagrha inscription, now in Indonesian National Museum (it's googleable).
Looks like you soon decode the universal truth in ancient Hindu / Sanatan text "Aham Brahmasmi" - That Parabrahman is me - the ultimate reality!
Yes, everything is Parabrahman and Parabrahman is you and me!
SHIVA, SHAMBOO, the first superhuman, is the center of our universe.
Thanks for sharing Praveen ❤❤😇😇😇

Feeling proud from such magistic point of view by ancient builders. Indian Govt should do something to retrieve and reconstruct these like old days
Do you mean the Indonesian Government..? I would welcome that.
Amazing channel! My stepson is cambodian. His grandmother escaped during the genocide. His mother was born during or right after the escape. She has passed, but her last name is a royal or
Famous last name in Cambodia. Because of This channel and the coverage of the Temples, we are hoping to venture to Cambodia and see the Temples there. Soo much knowledge in these temples.
I had an idea that the Lingams possibly produced the electricity to light up the inside of the temples… and i love the ideas presented in the videos of what if the moving of the part of the columns opened other doors or raised the roof or parts of the temple !! Amazing architecture !!
My father was an architect for
The Army Corp of Engineers. We have studied american architecture together and never studied Temples!! I wish i had found this channel
While he was still alive.
Also i feel like the cross shaped temples were built in India and then the British or Europeans copied it for their churches in other places.
Thank you for all you do and are doing! I appreciate this channel

PraveenMohan ji have so much expertise in his subjects, that his knowledge and work should be the part of indian education system. Thanks Sir for educating us on hindu temples. Best Wishes from Melbourne.
Is there a video reference you can provide for this ? :"Javanese had colonized the Khmer for 200 years and Jayawarman the 2nd who was in Java was the hero who freed the Khmer from Javanese domination." The JOMAN are an interesting peope ot me, like poly-nesian ,MANY and maybe a naga word. Tamil? snakes? JOMAN MAY have a story of boating it to PERU! Peru story somewhere on "Mexico undiscovered"s channel.
Yea..yet it all comes down to the vast influence of Sanatan Dharma in Egypt, China, Japan Cambodia, Indonesia.. etc
Translation in language distortion on so many levels until today ..
It's definitely ParaBrahman
@@VibrationsfromMirror 200yrs is such a short time span compared to the latter ... Unfortunately I don't have a video reference.. but if you learn about each religious practices for the most part Santana Dharma had one of the heaviest influences and oldest as far as my info goes..
You can even find on Parveen's video about finding of an older pyramid than Egypt.. and how some Brahmans traveled there and spread knowledge about vedas,Metrics, and Geometry .. on how to build pyramids and also regarding overlooked craftsmanship alot of artwork show symbols of plants not found in Egypt but from India ..( or maybe that part was different source 😓)
Ohh and even Peru has a really old old sculpture of Ganesha that was found in front of their temple.. there is a video somewhere about it..
Sorry I can't help much.. but interesting to theorize that it can be possibility ..🙏
@@jacquia.7340 It would not be surprising to find ancient Brahamanic influence in Egypt and other very old civilizations. It is the oldest religion that is still being widely practiced today.
@@VibrationsfromMirrorthere's a statue in cambodia with the kawi language(old java language). The local cambodian can't read it.
